I was a bit nervous about the whole experience given my lack of swimming skills. We arrived at the dock and were greeted by Clare who gave us a waiver to fill out and then went over the instructions, she also attached life vests on our paddles since I was concerned about the water. The water was very calm which instantly made me feel more comfortable, Clare gave us very simple instructions and had such an easy going attitude that I volunteered to go out first! She also explained that the water was quite shallow and even though I'm only 5 feet tall, I would be fine if I fell in. It was a small group of 3 so she was able to provide guidance to everyone. We had a great time gliding on the water and looking around the tall grass surrounding us. We stopped for a bit on the beach and Clare took pictures of us which was nice since we left our phones in the car. Everyone had a great time, if you're considering trying stand up paddleboarding then you should definitely try this place. We also met Joe at the end of the lesson and he was super nice. I can't stress enough how awesome Clare was! Overall we had a great time and with the affordable prices look forward to our next visit!

Reserving was a hassle, and my friend said that the guy booking was not the most pleasant and cooperative. Location is great, in a marina with plenty of parking and a waterway that leads to the ocean. I wish the area we could explore was larger though. They gave us boards (which were quite wide and sturdy) and paddles, but neither were configured to the individual, everyone got the same of everything. Life jackets were not even given to us, I just saw them hanging on the side of the dock and grabbed one because I like to be extra safe on the water. That to me was a red flag that safety wasn't a high concern to this company. We were told some rules to follow as there were some jetty formations to avoid, and we were on our way. Quite relaxing on the waterway, and it was nice to be able to stop at a small beach right before the ocean. A guided group was going on at the same time, 2 of them went in the water the same time us. However when the other 2 of the group arrived, they made the first 2 people wait in the water - a little odd to me that they wouldn't wait for everyone to arrive before beginning. Both the owner and assistant were pleasant and helpful, but compared to other companies this was just ok. A great deal with the groupon though.

They gave great information upon booking the reservation on the phone. Parking was very easy but depending what time you go I'd go sooner for parking! The women who checked us in was very sweet. She explained everything to us. She told us where to go and how to stay safe. The man who got us on the boards was equally as nice. He gave us a quick course on how to use the boards. The boards were much easy than I thought. I felt secure and got the hang of it pretty quickly. We paddled to an amazing area with a waterfall and past some beautiful houses and shoreline. I loved that you could kneel , lay , stand and just float in the water. It was definitely a fun day and I can't wait to do it again.

The other folks out on the water are always so nice as well helping one another out with pictures...it's a great clientele. Do yourself a favor and go out and enjoy all that is summertime!

Parking wasn't an issue for us which was great. The paddle boards were amazing quality, great stability and very comfortable to stand/sit on. I loved that we were able to bring a small lunch bag on with us without it falling off the board. She had a map for us on hand so we knew where we were going since it was our first time in this area. We paddled through the canal which was much calmer and a lot to see. We came out by Bayard and just floated around before heading back. No issue. It was pretty straight forward to go there and back. She has merch back at the trailer which looked very cute. I would definitely rent again ! Great day.

I would highly recommend Moku Loa Paddle Tribe to anyone with Paddleboarding needs!…read more I had my first ever paddleboard lesson with them last week. I was nervous about losing my balance especially due to a recent concussion. The instructor really put me at ease and walked me through everything. With her guidance, I was able to learn how to correctly stand up, hold my paddle, balance, and maneuver the board. As an elementary teacher myself, I really admired my instructor's knowledge, patience, and ability to predict my needs before they even came up. I enjoyed it so much I came back for a second lesson with my husband! He caught up to my abilities extremely quickly! And this time, I was really able to take in the scenery and the beautiful area Moku Loa is based out of. The Oakdale Yacht Club itself feels like a vacation resort, but on the paddleboard you really get a chance to immerse yourself in the tranquil landscape. Seriously, the shoreline is absolutely gorgeous, not to mention the different wildlife we saw while paddling. Eventually, I made it to the Connetquot River and was able to take a quick swim before paddling back in! Just an amazing and fun day here on Long Island! Again, I would definitely recommend Moku Loa Paddle Tribe to anyone with Paddleboarding needs. And also for those of us who could just use a tranquil and refreshing break :)

Seeking to ease her into a passion for paddling , I sought out a group experience on calm waters. Safe was the operative word. I saw a social media posting for a guided tour of the Connetquot charging a small fee for dropping in your own vessel. They run this tour weekend days. Until November. There was a group of about 17, some with their own kayaks or SUPs, others rented from the business. Rob provided great direction, was informative , and a genial host. Lisa and I probably had time during the 2 hours to have small conversations with everyone in the group. The canals and river were so easy to navigate, scenic, tranquil, even with some light powerboat traffic. Not an abundance of wildlife but we had a great close encounter with a great blue heron. We are probably comfortable doing this without guidance now, but might choose to join up again for the group experience! Check it out while the weather is fine and the waters are warm! P.S. - I fell out of the boat before we even launched. Looked the fool in front of all but that just started the day off with laughter.
