Skybeam is by far the worst ISP I have ever had/dealt with and possibly the worst service you can get in all of the area they service. I had them at my house for about 2 years and my in laws had them at their house as well. After completely inconsistent service and daily outages at both locations and endless tech support calls with them they finally told me that they were tired of my complaining about their service and told me to cancel my contract. Also during the installation at my house the tech shattered a glass pane around my front door because they drilled into it, and didn't bother to tell me. I didn't notice for a few days so they told me that I wasn't able to prove it was them. You couldn't see it from the outside so I have just left it. I have been away from Skybeam for a year or two now but I was doing some computer work for a friend the other day and they told me that Skybeam now charges them $20+ a month extra for data overages. This is not in their contract and it doesn't say anywhere on the Skybeam site that they have a data cap on their service. Essentially they lie to the consumer about what their bill will be and just hope that they don't question it. They have 3 kids and do a bit of netflix streaming.... Seems like pretty normal usage by todays standards so if you sign up with them I would add an extra $20 bucks to what they quote you for overages that you will be charged. So here is the deal... Their speeds are slower than everyone else in the area, They have constant outages and inconsistent service, They have low data caps and will most likely charge you extra per month, and if you bug their customer service they become downright rude to you. Skip em and go with the proven Comcast or Century Link. I guarantee you will get better service. read more

It is now Rise Broadband and our internet is either down or so slow that it is unusable about 25% of the time. They are very friendly and nice but I cannot get them to actually fix it. I wish there was an alternative. read more

If you have any choice in which ISP you go with, make sure it's not Skybeam. They absolutely are the worst internet service provider I have ever had. I live in a remote area so the only reason we are with them is because we literally have no other choice. I pay for their top of the line service and get about a tenth of the bandwidth they offer on average, and the best part is they start to throttle my speeds once I hit a certain threshold of amount downloaded per month (which almost always happens) even though they don't say anything about rate limiting when you sign up. Signing up people for internet service when you know your capacity is not adequate is bad business. I'm sure it's more profitable, but for customers, it certainly is not a positive....streaming and other internet activity is nearly impossible at normal times. Under no circumstances would I recommend you use Rise Broadband (previously Skybeam). Their service towers are overloaded yet they still want to add more customers. They would not respond to outages and only said they didn't know if or when the problem would be corrected. I canceled my service and was assured I would be notified when their tech was coming out to remove the dish. Of course that didn't happen either, he came out and removed the dish but left the large steel mounting pipe bracket 20' up on the side of my home. I called to have it removed and they responded by saying there was nothing they could do. I'm not sure how anyone could run a business in this manner. these guys suck. They make you pay for install before they will even come out. In my case they could not do the install. So when I asked for my install money to be refunded to my CC. They said I would get a check in 4 to 6 wks. Really!!!!! I have to pay upfront but to avoid them paying the CC company their $2.00 fee to refund my money, they make me wait over a month. First off, I believe this is Rise Broadband but hasn't bothered to change thier name on here. Dont even think about signing up with these people. They have terrible service and even worse customer service. Internet speeds of less than 1mb (old dial up speeds), dropping connections, unable to stream any services. And cancelling is a nightmare, they expect you to pay an additional month for the horrible service and then they come take the antenna from the roof without notification and trespass without authorization, risking letting my dogs out of the yard! It informed me that someone in my neighborhood had informed the sender (ID is not on the postcard), has informed them that other internet servers in my area are overcharging for services. Several years ago, signed in with local internet and VOIP provider, Eccentrix, in central Texas and service was great. Then Skybeam bought up Eccentrix and service went down and "help" was in remote locations and was ineffective. Long hold to talk to a representative who either cannot or will not actually fix the problem. Promises to call back are false. Promises to fix the problem are false. Skybeam is attempting to become as large and impersonal and have the same dismally low service level as the "big boys" like AT&T with the "don't care" attitude. Stay far far away.....They are nothing but a headache.....I have had nothing but problems day in and day out losing internet.....and now since the new year of 2017 I have gone into my account to change my preference from auto pay to paper statements countless times and the same with updating my new e-mail countless times only to find out that they have a computer glitch that won't keep my info up to date which means they don't send me my paper statement so I have had 4 late fee charges from them.....the first 2 they took off my bill and now won't take off anymore late fees even after one of their representatives told me she would.....ALL 4 of these late fees are the result from their computer glitch.....they have no record of the lady that said she would take off the late fee this last time....when I try and explain that it is their fault they act stupid read more

I cancelled service, but got a monthly charge anyway. I have been trying to reach a real person in Skybeam billing for 2 days now. This is no exaggeration - I listened to the hold music for two hours yesterday, during which I tried to use their call back queue function for both my land line and cell phone. No call came through. I gave up at 5:00PM, thinking billing is now closed for the day. Now, this morning, I'm going on 90 minutes and counting. This time, when I routed the press "2" for the automated callback got a call back sure enough, but the call was just more of the same!! Is there no one there??? 2 hours now . . . Would give a negative rating if i could. Service is sporadic , Customer Service is non existent. If anything goes wrong with your connectivity it takes weeks for someone to come out. I can drive to their headquarters faster than I can get you on the phone. I drove from Denver CO to Laramie Wy and was still on hold when I got there. Right now going on over an hour and 20 minutes on hold New and improved website. Cannot get in to pay my bill or print off my statements. You get to terms and conditions, accept and can not do anything from there. Trying pay your bill over the phone is a joke. How do they stay in business?? This is the worst company and service I have ever dealt with. Yesterday (7/14) a technician was out to resolve an issue where our internet service failed to connect. The technician was finally able to get it resolved, he told me he changed the frequency it was using. When he left I noticed the speed was very slow, we were getting 15mbps and now getting less than 5 mbps. I called today (7/15) to get it resolved, below is the exact conversation, hopefully you have it recorded and can listen to it. I will be cancelling my service if you ever answer your phones. We will be going with Aerux, which I was told by your technician on Monday, they were a MUCH better company with more reliable service. Our internet provider was recently taken over by Skybeam (about 2 months ago). Since this happened our service has gone down twice, once for two days and then again five days. We contacted technical support and no one had a clue. Finally on the fifth day we were put in contact with the previous provider and wha la it was fixed. I have been with SKYBEAM for a couple of years and service has been mediocre. They do have some periods of down time but living in a rural area will have its challengers. The first real problem has arisen in the past week. You pay the next period when you receive your bill, I received my invoice and noticed they had not received my last payment. I went on-line and verified I had made payment but yet they had not received the payment. After speaking with SKYBEAM, then my bank and then back to SKYBEAM... they tell my they changed their PO Box (same zip but a different box). I am not sure what genus made this choice but apparently they did not forward the mail or notify my. My bank does not trust their on-line site to they actually send a paper check. I have spent over three hours on this, have a credit score over 800 and they have treated my like I stole something. So i am suppose to be paying for 20 down and 4 up. Well during the day I get 4 down and 1 up and as soon as 5pm hits im down do about .2 down and .4 up. We have had this issue for about a year and they finally admitted that the problem was they oversold their bandwidth. This is after we had 3 tech visits (THAT WE HAD TO PAY FOR!) We can't begin to tell you how dissappointed we are with Skybeam. We are a small business that run out of a small home office out in the country. We recently had been losing our internet access intermittently for about 3 or 4 weeks so we called skybeam's tech support to get help. Their tech's told us that our router was a lemon and that we needed to replace it with a new one. At this point we completely lost our internet access and had none starting Monday morning. That afternoon we picked up a new router($279) and took it back to the office to install it. The router did not pick up any internet signal, so we called tech support again. We were on the phone with tech support for about 3 hours trying to figure out the issue. Tech support decided to tell us to call ASUS(The manufacturer of our router) to see what was wrong with our router, the tech support said obviously it was the router(Brand new, not 3 hours out of a box) and he did not have the knowledge to be able to help me with it. He threw a lot of technical terms that I did not understand to drive his point home. I called our tech guy who couldn't help us until Wednesday to talk to skybeam and see what we could get going. After he was put on hold for a couple of hours(at $120/hour cost to us) he finally convinced them to send a tech guy over to our place to fix the problem. Around 5 last night we were finally internet capable. The tech guy who came out said that their equipment was malfunctioning the entire time and that it needed to be replaced. We never needed a new router, never needed to call our tech guys to come out. So after almost 3 days of not having internet skybeam finally came through. And all it cost us was 3 days of grief, a couple of angry customers, over $500 in costs and a lot of headaches. Our business is based in the front range but most of our work is done in the Vail Valley so communication is key. We really wish there was another choice for where we live as far as internet providers go but alas they're the only game in town so they can do this to us as much as they want. I highly recommend you find any other provider for your internet needs, I know that the first chance I get I will. read more

Absolutely AWFUL internet. It used to be really good, but now, at 2am with NOTHING else running, I can't stream a show on Netflix to save my soul. Every 10 seconds it goes back to buffer. My main complaint is the extra charges for data overages. This is not in their contract and it doesn't say anywhere on the Skybeam site that they have a data cap on their service. I have been hit several times with overage charges for usage that is no different then when I had Comcast, streaming Netflix, surfing and streaming stock quotes...normal stuff. I was never charged extra by Netflix and never heard of a data cap with them. Skybeam (now called Rise Broadband) isn't the greatest service either, slower than Comcast and it looses the signal way too often just a blip which shuts down everything then its back up but I have to reload whatever I was working on. Forget trying to get answers or help from tech support because their normal response is "no one else is experiencing this problem, it must be your router". Then they try to sell you a new router. I will be dumping them and either going back to Comcast or give Centurylink a try. read more

Please do not even consider signing up with this company. I get dropped several times a week and the speeds are not even close, and i mean no where near what I pay for. Please go with a trusted company like Comcast or Century Link. I just signed up with Comcast and immediately I noticed a difference.
