I came in for a consultation with Araceli on June 4th hoping to get my hair cut and colored. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with her mannerisms and demeanor. I understand I may have been unclear about my hair preferences, but that's why we had a consultation--to explore options and clarify my vision. Instead, I left feeling disrespected and shaky. As a mom of three, finding time for myself is rare, so this experience was particularly disheartening. I had high expectations based on recommendations, but unfortunately, I had the worst experience there. I left the salon without any service done due to poor customer service from the stylist. She made me feel unwelcome and simply disrespected. She spoke very loudly and kept repeating, "Do you know what I am saying? You know you won't get the color right?" My hair has been coming in funky since it started growing back after cancer treatment in 2020. As fresh as the growth was, it also grew back a bit more brittle, and breaks easily at the ends. Anyways, yeah, totally haven't been happy with my hair and haven't really been giving it much care. I went in to Sky Salon on a whim, took a Saturday appointment that opened up. I went in with no ideas for cuts or style for my hair. I just knew I wanted all my dead, frayed ends to to get chopped off.... Hmm, maybe even some color, oh, I didn't know. I met with Lynn who was truly amazing. She sat me down and gauged my hair personality by my jewelry - big organic earrings, my profession - creative field, and maybe a few other things she learned about me through conversation. The more we talked the more she had ideas for this cut I didn't even think of. She started with a deep condition. When back at the chair, she talked me through my cut, first identifying the dead areas and working from there. Then she talked me through style. When she got a good groove going, she styled it and gave me a few more options to go even more funky, shorter on one side, a-symmetrical, different lengths. At this point, her work had already amazed, and I was trusting of her creativity, so I gave her the green light to continue with her masterpiece. Oh... and I don't know when was the last time I had bangs but felt I could rock it, so to meet me half way, Lynn gave me subtle bangs... and again schooled me on ways to style with or hide them. Epic turnout. I love, love my hair, and left with a happy shag, texture, volume, and a good shine on my hair. This truly was a great REFRESH for my hair. Sky Salon is amazing, and watched the other stylist at the various stations create. All seemed so talented and passionate about what they created. Amazing! The new location is gorgeous.. who doesn't love a fantastic harbor view while indulging in a mani-pedi? Lighting is everything and I enjoy it at this location much better! Jelena is my go to. She is a true color specialist. Anytime I stray she always revives my hair and has a knack for knowing what you want. I wear hair extensions and no one can EVER tell after I leave her chair. The staff is generally pleasant to deal with and they serve an excellent Aveda crafted tea, coffee or lemon water. Their website has "Walk-ins welcome " and pricing says "hair cut $20-$60" Don't waste your time because when we walked in, they said $55 starting and use "Master stylist" as a job title. I guess they put a fancy title to up their price but advertise a low starting price to get you in the door. And they said only one person knows how to cut layers?! That's why they advertise they take walk-ins because few people actually sit down in the chair. This isn't Hollywood and you don't even get a view of the harbor. Instead you're just paying their high rental fees to have a spot in the harbor. No thank you. End result was my daughter went 2 blocks down where the stylist was also a "Master Stylist" and she paid $35 and had a nice experience. read more

She is a very good colorist & knowledgeable about how to blend gray hair with blond so It doesn't show roots when growing out. That's a good. I was a walk-in and decided to get a trim because they use Aveda hair products. My hair is thick and wavy so it takes a great stylist to do a good job. So many want to layer my hair and don't take shrinkage into account. Kai did a fantastic job, evaluating what it would look like dry in the real world. I'll be back. I had a haircut today. Last time, I tried "Masa hair salon" ( please see my review) and I liked it but this time I tried "Sky Salon" because it's close to my place ( It's important because I don't have a car now! ) and one of my Japanese friends goes there to have haircut (her haircut and hair color look nice) First, I visited to their website and found $20 discount coupon for the first customer. I printed it out and requested appointment for haircut and blow dry through the website. When I requested, I wrote about the coupon and about a hair stylist; anyone would be fine but I have a long hair so I would like to ask someone who is good at feminine style. Next day, they called me and explained that I could use the coupon with service valued $65 or more so I decided to ask Master stylist. They sent me confirmation massages on 2days before and the day of the appointment. That's good to remind you. When I walked into the salon, many products from shampoo to accessories welcomed me, and without waiting, stylist Jenna came to me. I brought a book to show some styles I like and she totally understood what I wanted. Her assistant gave me shampoo (shampoo smelled soooo good and the head massage she gave me was very nice ) and after shampoo, she served tea. The tea was good too. Jenna was very friendly and skillful. She did some layers on my side and it was just right. I really liked my hair. Also everyone at the salon was very friendly. The service was as good as service Japanese good salon do. It cost $65 for haircut and blow dry. ( unfortunately I forgot to use the coupon...) Apparently walk-ins aren't welcome. I only needed to ask about their skin services and the receptionist was on the phone & never looked up. One of the stylists came to the front to pay the delivery person for his meal & never acknowledged I was there & then a third person came to the desk and never looked at me either. I finally said I just wanted to ask a question about facials & all I got was an "I don't know." She looked at the receptionist, who shushed her, so I left. Thirty years spent training customer service reps & telephone etiquette. In any company I worked for, these 3 would have been "counseled" and then fired if they did it again. read more
