I've had pedicures here and there and it's so interesting because it always seems like they do different things. One place will give you little massages, another will do sugar scrubs, and the list goes on. Here they scrape and actually peel dead skin off your foot. I know I've seen this somewhere before, but I've never had it done, and I'll say, I weirdly enjoyed it! I think because my feet looked amazing afterwards. Who knew I had so much dead skin building up? Aside from that rather descriptive story, my toes looked beautiful too. I'm very happy with the shaping of my nails and paint job. Kept me waiting a long time and then made me wait some more once seated at the nail table. The nail tech was a MAN and he did a very bad job. Wasn't even friendly, honestly. My hands were really beat up recently and needing a thorough manicure. Instead, he filed my nails a tiny bit and gave me a very brief (but painful!) cuticle trim. No soaking my hands, no pushing back the cuticle with the stick, no cuticle oil or lotion. And my gel manicure was a mess, did not look neat at all. I was pretty pissed when I left. I had high hopes going into this nail salon. But my expectations were sorely mislead. My inspo picture showed a slim square shaped acrylic set with a curved french tip on each. With a gradient varying with 5 different shades of green. The acrylics I received were misshapen on a few. As well as the colors being not the same. Nor the dark to light green. They were more on the lines of neon to fluorescent green. The french tips were also borderline straight rather than curved. I would not recommend this nail salon. "It is so bad... Some things to keep in mind if you are considering getting your nails done at Sky Nails: 1. They will rush you the entire time you are there. I appreciate the attention to efficiency, but I wasn't given adequate time to choose a color (even after saying I needed more time) & my "gel manicure" was completed within 10 minutes. This would have been fine, but the reason the service was so quick was because they just put paint on my nails. My nails were not shaped (just ran the file over the pads of my fingers twice) and my cuticles were left untrimmed. 2. They do not practice professionalism or cleanliness. One of the employees "washed her hands" before waxing a client's face by running her fingers under water for 5 seconds. Another employee was walking barefoot through the salon and sitting with his feet in the pedi sink and foot rest, while on his phone. (I'm sure it will not be cleaned after him doing that either.) They also swat your hands when you can't anticipate their every move. 3. They will make up a random number to charge you! This was my experience at least. My friend and I got the same exact thing - a gel manicure, no previous nail polishes to remove, no fake nails to be applied. We have come once before and anticipated to pay $15 and tip. When I got to the counter to pay, I was told it was $22 (which is fine), my friend was told by her nail tech her's was $25. I was going to pay & tip on my card (to which you can anticipate to cover the fee for using your card anyways -- so that's not on them) and my nail tech was obnoxious -- telling me I could only give her cash. I asked why and she said next time I come I better have cash. Didn't want me tipping on my card. I told her that's all I had and she still insisted I give her cash. I asked to leave a $5 tip, to which she left $6. And still gave me a hard time. Just keep these thing in mind. I understand we all have different experiences, I just left feeling discouraged and treated as a number. The service wasn't about what I wanted but what they could get from me. Best nail salon in Erie for the work they do. I've never gotten a crappy nail job here. Each technician pays great attention to detail, and they're wonderful people. I always go to Kim. They have a fantastic selection of gel colors too. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because they aren't good with appointments. It doesn't matter if you call or walk in they try to take everyone no matter what and end up shooting themselves in the foot. You should still make an appointment, but expect to be here for a minimum of 2 hours on a Thursday through Sunday. I've gone on Monday or Tuesday and not had this issue though! I have gone there a total of two times and both experiences were great. I never make an appointment because either way you're going to wait. I get nail extensions with acrylic and gel overlay plus dip. My most recent nails are bomb and she took a picture of them after because she loved them too! Well...what started out as a fun catch up with my friend turned into a bit of a mess. I was visiting the area and she invited me along to get a Mani...on her (super sweet). She had scheduled an appointment at 1130 which means....nothing. If you call...they will agree to whatever time and you just wait in the group of people (heard this with every call)....there were 4 people ahead of us and my friend finally got hers started at about 1220. I was seated around 1230 and the older man didn't appear to me in a good mood....he thought i was just having a polish change but I wanted a Mani....... The start wasn't too bad since he was trimming my cuticles....but then he started to get a bit rough....and when my hand shook a bit he just held my fingers HARDER and told me to stop moving. My friend convinced me to get Shellac (we both regretted it) and since she finished before me...she came over. The color was different than the Natural light pink we were going for. I asked him if he could recommend a color and he told me to "YOU LOOK." You would think there would be a little bit of assistance (plus it would get me out of there) but another customer pointed out a different shade and I went with that. The polish went on lumped/not smooth.....I asked him about it and he told me it would smooth out.......when it didn't he used a buffer on my nail (the electronic one)....still my nails were not smooth and he spoke in Vietnamese to the other workers.......the only word I picked up was "SMOOTH".....so obvious to me he was talking about me. I was annoyed and couldn't be bothered to listen to me. It got to the point where I was just happy to get it finished....The massage didn't exist and well when I pointed out that the Shellac was on my skin....he decided to CUT it off and cut my nails more. This by far was the worst experience I've ever had....to the point where it left me speechless and I almost asked to have it removed but just realized it wasn't worth it.....don't waste your money here.......... This was the worst experience I've had at a nail salon before. Only one good thing about how my nails turned out, I love the color I got, but the woman who did my nails was terrible at her job! It was so sloppy, thick, and my nails were so crooked. She even seemed to get annoyed when I told her it was crooked, claiming it wasn't. Plus, she got a ton of the acrylic powder on my actual skin so she tried cutting it off with a cuticle trimmer, which really hurt. She left my nails looking so sloppy and definitely wasn't worth it. I tried to give this salon a second chance because they do good work, but they are so inconsiderate of customer's time. There is always a lengthy wait even when you call ahead or make an appointment and don't expect them to say hello when you walk in the door. The first time I called and they told me to "come now". I drove across town (25 mins) and got there for them to tell me to come back tomorrow although I told them I'd made an appointment. If it hadn't been for another customer sitting there to say she heard them tell me to come, they wouldn't have taken meat all. Might I add the woman telling me this was too busy doing her own nails... anyhow, I should've left. Out of spite, it seemed, they cut and filed my nails so short that they hurt! The second time: I work across the street and called to see if they were available for an appointment, they said "come now" I sat there for over an hour before anyone even acknowledged me. Finally I called another salon to make an appointment and they hurried and put me into a massage chair. I thought they were finally going to start me... nope! I sat in the chair another 15 minutes before anyone came over. I went with my daughter as a post mother's day treat. They used a tool with a razor blade to scrape the dead skin off my feet, but they didn't stop there. They took 2 huge chunks off my heel and couldn't stop the bleeding. Then they poured straight alcohol on it and I almost hit the ceiling. They tried liquid skin but that still didn't stop the bleeding, so after pouring MORE alcohol on it, they put liquid skin, then cotton, then a band aid. Needless to say, I can't get the band aid or the cotton off without ripping more of my skin off. I have to go to my doctor's office to try to have it removed and also get a tetanus shot. I will never be going back to Sky Nails. I was told this is "the best nail salon in Erie". I went for a gel manicure and spa pedicure 4 times. The gel polish application is sloppy, bubbly, EXTREMELY THICK, and all over my cuticles. They use harsh acetone to remove polish which dries and cracks the cuticle. I ask for my nails NOT to be cut down and they file them to death and uneven. Last time I was there the younger male manicurist caused two of my fingers to bleed. After he ruined my nails I went to another salon and they had trouble removing the FIVE LAYERS OF POLISH he applied. On top of his lack of skill, he was extremely rude and never said hello or greeted me. He just told me to sit down and spent the next hour basically destroying my nails. My biggest regret is not walking out. read more
