Not today tho. Today I went to get a quick pedicure w my niece. The technician assigned to me forced me into an up-sale on a gel pedicure even tho I didn't want it. I have never wanted a gel pedicure. I don't like the UV lights and my pedicures last too long as it is. I don't need to spend more on gel. It destroys my nails. I made it clear the first time he asked me that I wanted a regular pedicure for both of us. I handed him regular nail polish. He asked if I wanted gel again I said no. He asked if my niece wanted gel - we both said no just regular. He turned to the technician doing her feet and told her to ask us again if we wanted gel. We said "still no". He walked over and got my 13yo niece's color in gel and handed it to her technician. Luckily she asked one more time and didn't ignore my answer when I said no again. When my tech started painting my toes he used gel!!! I couldn't believe it. He had already put the first coat of gel polish on and threw a UV light box on my foot even though I repeatedly said "no gel". I didn't want to cause a scene in the short time I got to spend with my niece but I was not happy. Also irritating that even though I wanted to pay with a credit card, I had to use Venmo. I guess he has found that forcing the up-sale on his customers in the past has been worth the commission he makes or whatever drives the aggression but I won't be returning to this salon.
