    Intro to bungee
    Rachel B.

Sky Candy has one of the most fun classes I've ever taken: intro to Bungee! I loved this class. The place feels very put together and organized, even their website is full of good information. They put on so many different themed shows and showcases throughout the year and there's always someone at the front desk, ready to answer any questions. Most of the class offerings are in the form of series vs. drop-ins but there are still so many different options. They have a great first-class discount option and their memberships, series, and drop-ins are a little more expensive than some of the other studios in the area.

I have been going to Sky Candy since 2020 and absolutely love it!! The classes are fun, the staff are great and knowledgeable. My go-to class is the Bungee Dance with Amy, it's the best way to get cardio when you HATE doing cardio! This is the only place that you will find me doing push-ups, handstands and burpees! The location is perfect for me to pop in during the day to break up my work-day. I highly recommend doing the Intro to Aerials class so you can get a mix of apparatuses.

I'm recently into aerial fitness so I found this place and had a intro to aerial session. The experience was nice, we had a group of 3 students in total and tried 3 kinds of aerial apparatus, hammock, silk and Lyra. So far I like the silk the best. The teacher Erica was great! She introduced the skills in details and volunteered to help us take posing photos. The only complaint was that three of us had to share two sets of apparatus, but everything else was pretty good.

UPDATED RATING!! First things first, I loved attending classes here. More than can be described. Guys beware!! After attending FIVE drop in classes that had different students in each I began my Silks series intro course. I've been practicing yoga for a long time at studios from coast to coast and pride myself on my studio etiquette and have made "Keep your eyes on your mat" my mantra. To my categorical dismay, I received an email from Sky Candy (See Below) informing me I was no longer welcomed and they were refunding my money "For the comfort and safety of our teachers and students." The incongruities: The classes had rotating students and I never spoke to any or saw any more than once, hence I question what student could have feared for their safety based on an hour class with no one on one interaction. During my five classes with six students in each, I rarely saw another guy and the few men I saw practicing were very advanced. There were no guys in the intro series classes that I saw. So to read these absurd and unfounded accusations assassinating my character is a farce of biblical proportions. And then for the cherry on top, they were using my picture on their Yelp landing page?? (See Screenshot below) If there was any chance of these accusations being accurate, founded or holding any legitimacy I'd not be sharing this less than flattering tale. But there isn't. Period. Why else would I share this publicly if I had anything to hide? I did nothing wrong and am implacable, nay retractable in my assertion and my reputation in my yoga community speaks for itself.

I had a great time at Sky Candy! I signed up for the Intro to Aerials class. It was just me, another student, and the instructor (Erica). It was my first time doing anything related to aerials so I was a bit nervous in the beginning. However, Erica did an amazing job at walking us through the steps of getting on each apparatus. She would demonstrate first, and then talk through the steps as you try out the move. The class was 1 hr and 15 min and we got to try the trapeze, silk, and the hoop. We tried at least 2-3 moves on each apparatus. We were even allowed to have our pictures taken so it made for some really cool shots! I had a really fun time and am glad I took this class. Definitely an experience and would recommend to any beginner who is not afraid to try something different!

Staff has little education about skin infections common within gyms 2. Children spread mat infections, colds, and are walking petri dishes 3. Not good spot for adult athletes who want to stay away from becoming sick or coming into contact with potential skin infections 4. Poor self defense and martial art techniques that would cause severe injury in IRL situations are taught to kids here 5. Staff admits to not cleaning as often as they should 6. Gym always has a smell 7. Staff has played Christian music on a speaker during open gym time. Some people have severe traumas regarding Christianity that must be respected and gyms are supposed to be sanctuaries for everyone to feel welcome. Playing Christian music in safe spaces is unethical as it is nonconsensual evangelism. This is a good gym for kids, mostly. Yes there are decent amenities here. I give this place a +4 for effort, a -1 for cleanliness.

They usually have one large production each year and classes are consistent throughout. The performances are a one of a kind show. They usually involve aerial silk dancers 50-200' in the air, dancers on harnesses, and sometimes dancers coming down by zip lines! The shows are quite a sight. The classes move at a great pace for both dancers and non dancers alike. No experience needed for beginners (level 1)! The courses are a fantastic way to build upper body strength and learn the art of silks. The instructors will start off with the basics and safety as you learn to "lock" into the silks to perform your first few moves (few feet up at first and moving towards flips and drops after some experience)! Overall, they put your safety and learning first so you can build a foundation to grow from. Try their 6 weeks course or reach out for a fun unique birthday party! My arms were super toned after my first series. Full disclosure, I have a dance background but not everyone did. It was about 50/50! Parking is super easy. There are about 10 spots out front plus an overflow lot that can easily hold 50+ cars.

I have tried a lot of workouts. Boot camp, pilates, bar, zumba, rowing, spin, step aerobics, dance,…read morerunning, cross fit and power lifting have all been in my repertoire at one point or another. One of the issues that I came across was that eventually I would get bored with those "one size fits all" classes. Additionally, since classes are elective I could come up with 1,000 excuses not to go. I needed someone to count on me to show up. I decided it was time to search for an actual trainer who could help me achieve my goals. I looked all over online for trainers and I knew I wanted three things: 1.) A gym that worked with all body shapes and sizes. There's nothing more confidence shattering to your inner workout goddess than staring at women in what appear to be bras and underwear while you're sweating it out in your Dad's old college basketball shirt and pants. 2.) Trainers that were willing to shake things up and try new methods. 3.) A gym that believed in a holistic approach to training. Mind, body and nutrition needed to all be part of the plan. I met with Carol -- an incredibly enthusiastic and passionate fitness lover -- who owns the gym. Right away she started talking about my goals, interests, types of workouts I enjoy, etc, etc. She took a lot of notes and got me all squared away. I have been training with Veronica for a little over a year. Let me tell you ladies, if you're willing to put in the work, you will see results! I have lost INCHES off my waist, hips and thighs. For the first time in my life I feel fit. Veronica has encouraged me to be strong, try one more rep and even cut out some of the junk food that I love eating! Veronica is willing to mix up the workouts too. We have done everything from pilates to kick boxing to some aerial yoga moves. I never in my life thought I could hang upside down and then use my body weight to propel myself to my toes and yet I did it 15 times! The gym itself is clean and comfortable. You can choose your own music and every trainer there is so friendly and sweet. If you're looking for a place that will value you for your whole self --- the person who loves pull ups yet also finds themselves eating a little queso at midnight -- you should try Goddess Fit. They totally get the human side of fitness and are willing to help you find the best fit for your body and goals.

If you want to feel the technical *perfection* of being a pole ballerina, this may not be the place (however Pole Virgins and Pole Harlots with Ruby will give you some really good technical tips). However, in my opinion, this space IS the best place to start your pole/sensual dance journey. You can always learn technicality, but here is where you can learn to love how you move... HOWEVER you move. It is where you can unleash what you were taught to hold inside, and where you can free your emotions- all of them within a safe space and a safe community. From freestyle classes, slow and sensual teachings, and member events, this is the place to fall back in love with yourself- and you deserve that.
