This was a great place to go have a drink and check out the view. It was a great atmosphere, DJ was spinning some nice mixes, people there was very friendly. I am from out of town and went to pay for 5 friends and I to Enjoy your rooftop bar. I was greeted by an unprofessional gentleman with unkempt hair who has no idea how to count. He told us the cover was 5 dollars. I handed him a 50 dollar bill for 6 people and he told me that was not enough. If 6 people cost 5 dollars each, I am certain that should be 30 dollars which would cover 5 people and myself. He was rude to me and and said if I didn't want to pay a cover I should leave. I explained simple times tables circa 4th grade until he let us in with no apology. It's Now 12:40 AM, we have been at the bar for 15 minutes and have gotten zero drinks. Ordered a cabana to fit up to 20 people for my fiancé's birthday TWO weeks in advance. Get there & have to wait in line & pay for cover after buying the cabana even though we got there before 12 (Facebook said free cover before 12) was told "that's a fb offer" & felt with attitude from them But whatever no big deal at this point. Get upstairs, show my receipt from my email & the bottle service girls tell us "our manager never gave us your name so the best we can do is give you the smaller cabana & the $ difference" The small cabana fits 10 ppl at most & I made it extremely clear we had at least 30 people coming. Mind you There was a cabana OPEN that I originally bought & they said "that's booked the ppl called earlier" I'm sorry but what's the difference between me & them??? We're here first so why can't we have it & you tell them they have to have the small one.. Ended up buying 2 bottles & multiple drinks between everyone we brought & stayed about 2 hours. the people who also ordered the big cabana didn't show up until 20 mins before we left LOL THEY HAD NO POP TO MIX DRINKS WITH, only juice... ON A SATURDAY DT... They didn't accommodate at all & basically said it's this or nothing... no discount on bottles to apologize/show they care & made a mistake. If you pay with card CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS. The past 3 weeks they have charged me more than what my bill has actually been. One night I got 4 drinks for my friends and I they were $7 apiece and I got the receipt they charged me $32 I told them what it should've been ($28) and instead of fixing the receipt they gave me just $4 back. Basically I agree with the other yelpers who have been to sky bar. Yes they renovated it, and the VIP cabanas look great, however the wait time for drinks is longggg! Also one bar is cash only which you have no idea unless you have been there prior and experienced this nonsense! So upon waiting 20 mins for a small tiny 4 dollar well drink you then learn, "oh my debt card is no good here." (Yes debt card lol) "I must go where? over there?...uh great..." "Oh and wait another 10-20 mins ... Thanks I'll stay sober and be awkward." Place is somehow always packed and if you don't want to wait in line for the elevator go through d'arcy mcgees toward the bathrooms there is a back stair case you can go up. It's 4 floors, burn some calories before you try to binge drink :) and take them on way down since your practically stone sober since you waited 3 hours standing in line. and don't have to worry about falling down being that guy or that girl. Music is pretty much a mix of everything and they keep the crowd dancing and have a good time. Have not been there during the edm Friday nights during the summer. I want to check it out I've just always had other obligations or I didn't care for the Dj that night. But tickets are relatively cheap under 25 I believe. One of my favorite spots in the summer time! Drinks are normal price (for Buffalo) and regular sized. They don't try and G you of your money. Its got a huge bar, but sometimes you might have to wait a little since there are so many people. But overall not too bad of a wait. It can get pretty packed during the weekend and overall the place is nothing special but the added summer air makes all the difference. Tons of people are out here and if you want to meet new people this is a great venue for it. The music is great (top 40, hip hop...they might have possibly added house to the mix, *ugh) and everything feels nice with the clear summer air. Being 4 floors above the city is great but there are just so many negatives here. Drinks are way to over priced for the watered down dixie cup sized drinks they serve. On any given night this place gets really busy, which is good if you like not even being able to dance, move or order a drink. Save yourself the cover charge and head somewhere else. What I enjoy about Sky Bar -- it's a rooftop bar downtown, great for enjoying summer nights with friends with the downtown skyline (even if it isn't much compared to other cities, it's still nice). They have remodeled it before summer 2013, placing the DJ booth in an off-focus, awkward place. I came here for many of their EDM summer events, which were awesome because I didn't have to pay a fortune to see some of my favorite DJs! Sound system has improved from before, but can be overly loud at times. You may leave with ringing in your ears for days. Drinks are okay priced. Maybe more expensive than other bars? I'm used to paying much more so I can't compare. Service is decent, bartenders are pretty attentive! Bathrooms can get disastrous (and I'm just talking about the girls') If you can, urinate downstairs. Bathrooms tend to be cleaner there. I have had fun at skybar in the past. When I found out my friend booked VIP for her bachelorette party I thought nothing about. Things changed when we first stepped through the door. First of all they tried to make us pay cover. My friend got an email that states that we all get in for free. The staff was rude and rolling their eyes about us and complaining. Super fun bar in the summer time! It is the rooftop bar above Darcy McGees. They have an elevator that takes you to the top, and an attendant, who accompanies you. They have cabanas available for the night, with a reasonable rate. Full bar with plastic cups, so you don't break any glass on the roof. Sometimes, when you go in and pay the $10 cover, they'll give you a free drink from the second floor bar, Lyft. Most nights they have no cover at Sky Bar by liking them on Facebook. read more

I visited this place twice. First was on day before labor day, that day till 12'o clock it was empty but after that people were just coming and it continued till 2 am (Monday - Labor day). It was fun and great. People were nice. We had bottle service for a friend's birthday last weekend. The door staff was terribly rude when asked about our reservation. The manager said we had no reservation, so my friend had to pull up her bank info to prove her card had already been charged a $100 holding fee. We still had to pay cover(!) then waited to be led to a tiny cabana with uncomfortable seats. Our bottle of vodka and champagne took a good 1/2 hr to get to us, which meant I ended up paying for a drink at the sticky, overcrowded bar. Not happy... I've always been a fan of outdoor clubs b/c it eliminates what I feel to be the biggest issue of indoor clubs and that's air ventilation. I went with my sisters and friends to start off my birthday July 8, 2018 at the bar. I had been to the place a couple of times and decided why not start off a new year with a place I like? We enjoyed it for the most part until about 2am after I had escorted a friend to her car. As I hastily walked back into the building so as not to miss out on the fun with the rest of the girls, I heard two people yelling that I get back out. So of course I walked back out to see if there was something urgent that required my attention. To my dismay, as soon as I got to the entrance (security/payment point) a short, slim, blonde caucasian girl, who may be in her twenties and a medium height, average body weight, and dark haired security man, who I believe to be in his thirties were shouting at me. I was shocked and puzzled as to why they were being rude to me. This girl had the audacity to curse me out for a reason unbeknownst to me. The security man, asked me to leave immediately. Mind you, I don't even take alcohol, so I was extremely alert! I asked what the matter was, why they spoke to me in such an unfriendly manner, and why I was being asked to leave. Was it because they thought I was drunk, or were they mistaken that I was someone else. I am of African descent. Could they have been racist? There clearly wasn't any justification with the way I was being treated. This blonde girl was at the top of her voice and verbally abusive saying, "get the fuck out of here, you shouldn't be here", and what ever else she felt like saying. I told them I was not leaving and even showed the security man my stamp on my left hand as proof of payment. I then told them that their behavior was uncalled for and very unprofessional to begin with. Just when you would think that they would apologize, the security man insisted that I leave if I didn't want to go back in while this girl continued yelling and being nasty. At this point, I was infuriated and disgusted. I requested to speak to a manager. While this went on, another security man walked towards us. I asked him if I could speak with the manager and explained to him what had just happened. He seemed to be understanding, but even as I spoke to him, this stupid blonde girl continued interrupting me not until he shut her up. Furthermore, when it was time to leave, this same girl still had the boldness to provoke me. She said, " good night honey, love you!". Like who does that? I have never been maltreated in such an uncouth manner in any of the other clubs that I have been to. This was extremely disappointing! If this is how people are being treated or continue to be treated then management has to reevaluate its employees and implement better policies otherwise, you may run out of business!!! read more

The venue itself has a lot of potential. Unfortunately it wants for implementation. The bar staff is reasonably well mannered, the door-staff however is not. The drinks are priced a bit higher than average for the area, and unfortunately poor quality. My experience at sky bar was terrible, from the extremely rude security outside handling I.D's to the way overcrowded and understaffed bar, probably the most overrated bar in buffalo. Drinks are expensive, and it's about a ten minute wait just to get on the elevator that takes you to the top. Great looking bar, but very poorly managed.
