Then after the procedure my claim for payment was denied by insurance. I called the office and they told me that my insurance was not a participating group! Really? Why did they mislead me in the beginning that it would be covered and now tell me something different. It's not fun having a $1,480 bill that you did not expect! I take notes on conversations and have all this in writing. Very unprofessional the way they handled securing my business and then taking responsibly or helping in anyway about the bill. And for the actual procedure, the dentist had two pieces of his tool fall into the canal of the tooth and joked with the assistance about this never happened before and they hope to be able to get them out, all while I am speechless due to a rubber shield across my mouth. He did not explain what happened or reassure me that it would be ok. The end result was a three step/appointment procedure and I believe all turned out ok.

Please do not go here, for your own health - They attempted to scam me into multiple procedures I…read moredid not need. Upon examination, Nick told me I had at least 4 cavities to be filled, needed multiple deep cleanings, and decay removed from other teeth. None of which was true. I would have gone through with all of this had it not been for the "pay everything up front and you get a refund through your insurance policy", I am a law student working very few hours and I couldn't afford to pay the full amount at the time, so believing I needed an abundance of work done I decided to go somewhere recommended that will charge my insurance like normal. I went to Lakeshore Dental Care to get these "multiple cavities" filled only for them to tell me I have one singular small cavity (so small numbing wasn't even needed), no decay, and all I needed was a normal cleaning. I had trusted Nick and did not believe I had only one cavity, insisting I had multiple, asking "but what about this", until they went tooth by tooth with me showing me on each one there were 0 signs of cavities, along with how tiny the only one I had was. They also told me what every other dentist besides Nick in my life had, that I have impeccable teeth and am just not prone to cavities, which is why it took 28 years to have my first one. I got my single tiny cavity filled at less than 1/2 of the cost he quoted per filling, using the same insurance, and not having to pay upfront and wait for a check from the insurance company. I have worked with Nick in a professional capacity for years at my job and trusted him fully only for him to attempt to have me go through multiple procedures he knows I don't need, this is after sharing anxiety about dental procedures and him assuring me he would take great care of me - I can not imagine he doesn't do the same for those he doesn't know personally. Further, when I asked for my X-rays to be transferred to the new office, they did not send the ones I got in office that he diagnosed all these issues with, but ones I had back in 2019 elsewhere; likely due to the fact any dentist would be able to look at the same X-rays he used to tell me I need so many procedures and know that I had perfectly healthy teeth. It is the definition of a scam. I am absolutely disgusted and livid. On top of all of this, he literally yelled at me when I asked him a question regarding the procedures. I asked why he insisted on something and instead of simply explaining, his response was to scream "Hey! Listen to me, I know what i'm doing!" at me in the waiting room. As if I don't have the right to ask a question about MY teeth and the procedures I will be paying for.. absolute lunacy. Looking back, this should have been the biggest sign to stay away.

But recently, I had such an unfortunate interchange with their office manager and staff. I called to book an appointment for my daughter to get a quote on another round of braces (she never wore her retainers and teeth shifted back). The front desk told me there would be a fee for return clients but not for new clients. That didn't make sense to me so I said no thank you. I already received a complimentary consultation elsewhere with a quote. And they did NOT charge me. The front desk told me she would have someone call me back. Sure. I got a call back and told the same thing. Ok. Then I proceeded to cancel my appointment. The office (wish I remembered her name), said she would ask the doctors and call me back (again). Days later I received a call and told there would be no fee. Great. My husband brought my daughter yesterday and sure enough, I am charged $85.00. Called and spoke to the office manager. She handled it very poorly, and kept explaining that they did a lot of "extra's" and that the $85 was actually a great deal. The thing is, I didn't ask for any extra's. I just wanted to know if I would be paying the same price for another round of braces and to see if I could get some kind of discount as a returning patient. This manager made a point to say that there was no record of my previous conservations and therefore, she would not do anything. I have worked for years in private practice - Manhattan - selling elective medical cosmetic procedures. I understand how this works. It is not about the money but about the practice keeping their word and honoring their commitment to the patient. I spoke to them 3x before our actual appointment and they still charged me. I am so disappointed with how they now run their business. Very sad indeed.

Bring fairly new to the area I didn't have a dentist so I reached out to area friends and YELP. Amongst the recommendations was this one, Hannon & Piazza. These guys were great on the phone and able to squeeze me in this morning. They told me exactly what they would be doing (x-rays, cleaning, and putting the bridge back) and the approximate cost. They even provided suggestions related to parking. I came into a pristine office and again sensed "positive vibes" amongst the staff. While years of tartar and plaque were being chipped away (It had been years since my last dental visit.) I knew that I had finally found a dentist to call my own! The dental tech (I don't know what they are called.), Laura, was friendly and informative. She was gentle so no one heard me screaming as she cleared away years of missed dental appointments. When she asked about a six month cleaning I said yes, BOOK ME! I have found my dentist!! The dentist came in, explained my options and said he is not aggressive. He was great too ... He put my bridge back in but the disappearance of my one anchor tooth means that I will be back choosing the best fix. As I prepared to leave they explained my future treatment cost options. And, then the bill was LESS than first discussed & they did not charge me for cementing in the bridge. Plus I was given a new tooth brush (I needed one! :-))!
