The food is amazing! My family came here because we were craving smoked meats and they did not disappoint! You can't go wrong with getting anything with gravy or their spicy coleslaw, and I am usually not a fan of coleslaw.

this is my second time here. driving from iowa to Wisconsin. my mom and I both had salads. it's a mix of iceberg and spinach. I'd prefer just iceberg, but it was good. I had the mandarin chicken and mom had the chef salad. both had lots of meat. service was good. take a few minutes to look around the gift shop right outside. the rotisserie chicken looked great.

Couldn't finish my meal...Meatloaf was gross and the corn was a bad canned variety..$19 for a meal that I didn't like.

Dropping my review from 5 stars a few years ago to 2 stars...I think they changed the meatloaf recipe....I used to love it but now I find it actually about inedible...Also, I had to pay $11 for this piece of meatloaf that I couldn't even eat...It was actually gross tasting....I had no idea the thing weighed a pound...The corn is also terrible...It's defintley the canned variety and it's awful lol....the only good things about my meal were the sweet butter for the cornbread..But, not the cornbread as it was cold and blah lol....And the cheesy potatoes were good as well.. So I ended up paying $19 for a meatloaf dinner that I couldn't even finish..Yuck.

    Smothered Southern Chicken Sandwich

Stopped by to use the restroom and was hooked by the smell from the kitchen. We decided to stay for lunch. I had the Krakenberg sandwich and it was pretty good. My wife had the smothered southern chicken sandwich and it was amazing. The service was good and they were quick. Menu was huge, took awhile to decide. Didn't have any drinks because we were driving, maybe next time. Definitely going back.

We have stopped here several times, typically after a long day/night of driving. While it's not fine cuisine, it usually hits the spot and is a nice place to stretch your legs and eat a little something. This last stop, I needed just a little something that wasn't fried. I was happy to find brussel sprouts on the menu. They weren't bad. If they would have been served a little hotter, they might have been really good. Husband had a burger and fries which he thought was pretty good as well. As other have said, you sit, look at the menu, then go to the host stand to order. I'm sure this helps with staffing so it wasn't a problem. The food is then brought out to you. The ladies delivering the food were so nice and friendly. I also liked that I could get a glass of wine with dinner due to the bar next door (I was not driving :-).

First time here ,nice sports bar/ restaurant at the petro. Probably one of the nicest truck stop restaurants/ bar I've been to. Just had a bowl of chili which was very good. Service was great and beer was cold. They had a few craft beers on tap and it's the 1st sports bar at a truck stop I've seen with a patio! In all great place and will definitely stop here again when I roll through.

Not to be confused with the School Tavern, which provides alcohol to 12 year olds. Only the Scandinavians have to sit through 24 hours of Darkness for months every year, so only they would come up with the idea of a 24 hour Tavern serving unhealthy food and hearty big mugs of beer. At a truck stop no less. So when you're driving across country you can get completely wasted. That's so Scandi! Scandilous, you might say. Named after what I believe to be a Scandinavian beer of some sort and located at the really busy truck stop (Petro) on the east side of Interstate 35 in Albert Lea about an hour south of the Mini Apples suburbs in Mini Soda. It's friendly and welcoming and it's not too cheap but they have snacks and food and alcohol and alcohol and alcohol and did I mention that they serve hearty portions of alcohol. The truck stop has a bunch of other awesome stuff as well so honestly all in all this has to be one of my favourite truck stops in the whole world.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere makes you forget you're in a truck stop. Lmfao The hot sauce is delicious Af and I'd recommend it along with literally everything else. The water cup is carrying this review because that's just how I do things. Something about the 'cool cup' being paired with delicious brisket just makes the meal! Would highly recommend this place!

We came here for lunch, and the buffet, which I would normally say is reasonably priced, was high for dried out casseroles and soggy bread.

My kids liked their meals, especially with the included dessert of homemade gelato. My wife and I had the Smokehouse Smorgasbord which offered a good sampling of all the meats and sides. We liked all the meat options, full of flavor and tender. Portions were plentiful and we both ate our fill. I have to make a special note on the chicken and turkey, most times, those choices make the bottom of my list but their poultry was so juicy and tender! There was also a lot of variety when it came to sauces - sweet, heat, mustard based, vinegar based, it was all represented. Prices were fair and service was "small town" chill and friendly. Two saucy thumbs way up!

It was getting busier by the time we left at noon; they also handled a lot of take-out orders. I'm glad we were there on a rainy Friday in the off-season--I can only imagine how packed this place would be in the summer! Service was great the whole time. A single-sided big menu has most of the food offerings, but there is a separate Spam menu that can be brought out on request. My husband had a beer while I was happy they had cans of local Loon Juice cider available. For our appetizer, we ordered a side item: fried okra. I don't think we've found okra anywhere else in the state! It was perfectly cooked with a cornmeal coating, piping hot and delicious. I had the Smokin' BBQ Platter. I had brisket for my meat option, with coleslaw and cornbread on the side. Perfectly cooked brisket, not dry at all. I'm an avid home baker and something of a cornbread snob, and this was excellent stuff--a perfect little loaf, sweet and perfect with butter melted within it. My husband had the Combination Platter with pulled pork and ribs. Now, he is a rib snob, having BBQed many over the years, and he declared these to be perfect (a rare thing to find in a restaurant). Not a shred of meat remained on the bone. Pulled pork was great, too, and he agreed that the cornbread was something special. He liked having pit potatoes, too, something that isn't common. Three kinds of BBQ sauce sat on our table in full, non-sticky squeezable containers. I tried the bourbon and loved it. My husband also tried the inferno; he can handle a lot of heat and said it wasn't really hot to his perception, but the flavor was good. In all, a fantastic experience here. I'd definitely come here again when passing through.

We had a group of seven adults and a baby, and when I called late in the afternoon, they were able to accommodate us at exactly the time we desired. From the moment I pulled up, I had a good feeling. The exterior has that historic charm, and inside it's beautifully updated while still keeping the character of the building. We were seated in a semi-private room overlooking the dam, which made the whole experience feel even more special. The service was fantastic - attentive without being overbearing - and the food absolutely delivered. Our table ordered a variety of dishes, from the smash burger to salmon and rice, shrimp, steak, and even the French onion soup. Everything was spot on. And I have to mention the dirty martini with hand-stuffed blue cheese olives... incredible. Every single person in our group enjoyed their meal, the drinks, and the atmosphere.
