Awesome experience. I was looking for a pair of xc skis and found Ski Rack via the internet and their inventory impressive. Moreover, I had some questions on which ski was the best ski for my application/needs between two models. When I called and talked with Jake I felt that Jake was the first person/store that actually listened; I had been in or talked with a number of stores prior but only Ski Rack left me with the opinion that they wanted me in the best ski for me, not what they had in inventory or a special on. Jake asked a few questions and helped me make a decision and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Further I have been blown away by the skis as far as performance. The pricing was more than competitive, too, especially with their free shipping via the internet. He took the best fitting/cambered skis for me off the rack and made sure those were the ones that were shipped. He also helped me chose some other items I needed and hooked me up with a pair of poles that had just come in that day and weren't on the web yet. The service guys did a nice job on the hot box treatment and scrape to prep the skis. It was an example of pure teamwork with the retail, service and internet guys and outstanding customer service all the way around. I've been a loyal customer for 15 years and won't take my bike anywhere else for service. Skirack staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. And should anything go wrong, they'll work hard to make it right for you. I bought my first bike from them after crashing my previous bike into the garage. Not only did they NOT make me feel like a total moron, they respected my commitment to riding, my athleticism (even though I'm decidedly not an athlete), and my intelligence. I've been riding that bike since then, relying on the service department to help me keep it in good working order. More than a few times, Skirack mechanics have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help me out. Most recently I picked up bikes and, on my way out, my rack failed and I nearly lost my bike. Again, instead of laughing at me, the rack expert was located, briefed on the situation, and appeared quickly to see what was going on. It seemed there was, in fact, a faulty part and, within 20 minutes, I had a replacement bike rail installed with the original locks, no charge. I can't speak highly enough, really, of the Skirack crew. But they've also got the best inventory in northern VT, support local organizations, and underwrite public radio. It takes a lot to get a grumpy IT guy to go out of his way to write a rave email about customer service, but I just sent this to the store today: I just wanted to let you know that I had the BEST shoe-buying experience of my life when I bought my new Asics gel running shoes at your Run Center in Burlington. The staff member "Jon" was so helpful and took his time with me and got me into the shoes that were right for ME, and not the most expensive in the shop. As a heavier guy trying to start getting active again, I had a certain amount of angst gearing up to go get what for me are going to initially be walking shoes. I am at a low point in my fitness life, and a high point (not the good kind) in my personal weight record to date. Jon was so encouraging and helpful, concerned and empowering, that I did not feel at all judged like a fat guy who had wandered into a runners club. It felt like I was getting help and encouragement when I needed it most. You have made a customer for life, and thought you should know that and that Jon should be commended for his thoughtful, professional and caring approach. Skirack is such an awesome place to get what you need for your life's adventures! I recently stopped in for a new pair of running shoes- I've been running for about 10 years, so I have a good sense of what works for me, but regardless of my experience and knowledge on shoes, the staff was VERY helpful and made me feel well cared for. A young fellow named Kyle suited me up with the perfect pair, his shoe expertise was evident and although there were quite a few people needing shoes, he multi-tasked extremely well and was very attentive. Another gentleman named Will was present (also helping multiple people) and was also very kind. In all, the running shoe/gear selection is great, but the excellence in customer service takes the cake... this business really cares about its customers. As far as I know, too, most of the staff are athletes of varying levels (some even professionals!) and their enthusiasm is inspiring. Great shop, fun atmosphere, lovely staff. A+ read more

Searched online for Expedition Gel saddles for our bikes. Came across Skirack in Burlington,VT. Price was right so I thought I would give them a try, but my major concern was time. I needed the saddles for a ride in 5 days and I live in NY. I called Skirack on the phone before I placed my online order to see if they could meet my deadline. They said yes so I placed the order. Ordered 2 saddles ($40 each)...free shipping over $50 and no tax on 6/11/18. Okay, here is the good part. My saddles arrived today 6/12/18 at 2pm via UPS ! Now that is customer service ! Take the order, process it, get it in a box, and get it on the truck. Service like this is hard to find nowadays when people take your order and sit on it for 5-10 days and then ship it. We occasionally rent bikes when in Burlington to take advantage of the bike path that leads to the causeway, and always rely on the Skirack for its excellent bikes and expert service. This time out, we have an even better than usual experience because Luke convinced us to try e-bikes for the very first time. He patiently took the time to explain to us how they work and how to ride them, and even had us do a little test run in the shop's back parking lot before we made our decision. Boy, are we glad we opted for the e-bikes. Thanks to Luke, we had the most fun we have ever had on bikes. His friendliness and enthusiasm is contagious. I would highly recommend these bikes to anyone, and to rent them from no other shop (especially since some shops only rent e-bikes by the day, whereas the Skirack rents them for shorter periods). read more

The staff at Skirack is amazing. Jake spent lots of time with me when I was thinking about getting into mountain biking. He was very patient over multiple visits while I was figuring out what I type of bike to buy. I finally selected a Specialized Epic. After a full season of riding I can say it is an awesome bike. I have been able to ride on trails I have no business being on. Then I went back to Skirack to get mountain bike shoes. Sean helped me try on multiple sizes of every mtb shoe they sell. I probably had 14 pairs of shoes all over the store. As soon as I tried on the Mavics I was sold...they feel like slippers. The running floor is just as great. Jon (general outdoor enthusiast and marathon veteran with/without orthotics) and Emily (super patient and knowledgeable half and marathon runner) spent 2 hours on two separate days each to help me and my wife work through 5 pairs of shoes to best accommodate our new orthotics. Emily did gait analyses via video on each pair of shoes as well as talked us through the process until we each had the perfect new set of running shoes for our next half iron. I was searching dozens of ski shops looking for a particular pair of Tubbs snowshoes. I talked with a lot of nice people and ski shops in VT, NH, and ME. AWESOME Boot fitting at The Ski Rack!! I was just fitted for a pair of ski boots from Doug S. and he did a fantastic job! His knowledge is endless regarding skiing and boot fitting. I usually have to go back a number of times to have my boots tweaked and he made it right during my first visit. I am a little high maintenance about boots and boot fit (I admit...I'm a female ski instructor)...this is the best experience I have had with boot fitting. Every experience I've had at the Skirack has been a positive one! Last week I had to outfit my teenage son in nordic equipment. Needless to say, I was dreading both the time and the money I would have to put into this endeavor. I am a very avid skier 120+ days a year. I have had foot and alignment issues that have plagued my performance for many years. Not only did Doug get to see me ski,he literally created a combination of foot fixes (inside the boot) and separate stance fixes ( binding and plate) that together have had a dramatic effect on my skiing and ski performance. Last month I decided it was time for shorter, more stable skis and after a fruitless search for a comparable store in my local area, I decided to contact Skirack. Derek in the snowboarding department does an excellent job listening to what you need and finding the perfect boot for you. I went for a new pair recently, and he took the time to fit my foot into three hand-picked boots, all within a good price range. I ended up with a pair of crab grabs that are the most comfortable boot I've owned. You could tell he knew what he was talking about, and definitely had the experience to back it. The customer service was excellent, all of my questions and concerns were answered promptly and in depth. I received the package price even when I substituted different boots.
