We came from out of state to do an organized bike ride on Champlain island. We reserved hybrid bikes via email. The staff is very responsive to email. The bikes were ready when we arrived for pickup. We also rented a rack for the car. It was $35 for a 24 hour rental. The rack was $20. You park behind the store in their Free lot. The store is huge with a lot of merchandise. The staff is very friendly. There is a water cooler you can fill your water bottle. The Burlington trail is a few blocks from store. It's a paved route that goes 11 miles to Champlain island. We biked five miles of it. It goes along the lake's beach and forested areas.

We came to Skirack to rent bicycles after another local bike shop had run out. You need to come early if you are serious about getting a bike. We were a group of 3 and we were very fortunate to get our hands on a tandem bicycle and a single bike. You pay with a credit card which they keep on file (and shred when you return) as collateral. See my photos for pricing: we went with the 4 hour rental and it cost $69 for the two bicycles. It was a really nice package that comes with a bike lock and helmut. The man who helped us, Will, was so kind and patient and really took good care of us. He made sure he explained to us the kind of bikes we were getting and explained how to adjust the seats, etc. He even pointed out their water cooler for us to fill our bottles before beginning the trail. He provided a map and explained how the trail goes and about how long it takes to complete, etc. Kudos to Will, he's awesome! The trail is right out the back door of the store. We tried out the tandem bicycle in the back lot. The bike trail is 10 miles one way from the Skirack. So both ways is a 20 mile bike ride. You can even go farther if you take the ferry but we opted out since we were tight on time. The Skirack gave us a great experience! Would definitely come back again.

Since 1998, I have purchased two mountain bikes from the Ski Rack and had them serviced multiple times. I brought my bike in for a spring tune-up one year, and the bike tech told me that I didn't need one - saved me $50 or $60 right there. I bought a bike rack from them and they followed me outside and installed it in my parallel parking spot which made me wonder how far they would've walked to install it for me. They carry ski's (telemark, xc and alpine), snowshoes, snowboards, bikes, water sports stuff, shoes, racks... I can't remember it all, just check out their website. Help staff is super friendly, although it can be difficult at busy times to find help. Annual Bike Swap in early spring is awesome for finding bike deals.

    Installed no charge.

I found them pretty quickly - they were just sitting out on the counter so I snagged one. The store is quite large and we took some time to browse - I wasn't really looking for anything specific, but it's always nice to be able to see products in person. They had a good sale section. I loved the local recommendations sprinkled on chalkboards throughout the store - so helpful! There were tops, shorts, shirts, fleece, jackets, hats and a lot of winter gears. The store was a super clean and tidy. There was a nice sit down table in the middle of the store. We found some nice UV proof beach shirts for our daughter. I also liked a t-shirt and a winter fleece, but the size didn't fit me. So we bought the kid's t-shoes from the store. As expected the prices were on the higher end, as it's Patagonia. But the quality totally makes up for the price. The staff assisted us with fitting rooms, size queries and checkout process. They were very friendly and helpful.

I had been thinking about buying a Fjallraven Kanken backpack (you know the one, the adorable square backpack that looks like a little kid's bag) for awhile so it was neat to see them in person and all the different colors. They also have lots of outdoor gear, other backpacks, apparel, and a sale area in the lower level. We stopped in twice during our long weekend in Burlington and the employees were really helpful and friendly, offering to show us any color of bag we could imagine and explaining some of the features of some of the products. The store is large and fully stocked with anything you need to be a cool Swedish hipster in nature! The products they sell are pretty pricey but the backpack we got is guaranteed for life and is water-resistant due to the beeswax coating. I really enjoyed checking out this shop and was impressed by the knowledge and friendliness of the staff.

Arrived as it was leaving with another customer. I was very interested in a kayak Umiak advertised on their website. I called and spoke to Brian on Sunday to confirm it was there. He advised it was there. I explained that I was VERY interested and was concerned it would be sold before I could come see it. I was assured it was fine and not to be concerned. Monday we had a snow storm. I called and spoke to Brian. I explained I was really wanted that kayak and was worried it would be sold before I could get there. I provided Brian with my credit card info etc. and asked if he could consider it SOLD. He took all my info and said he wouldn't charge the card until I got there but that the Kayak was mine. I spoke to another person there Tuesday and explained that, as it was a 14' kayak, I'd like to come with a trailer but couldn't be there until Saturday. I was assured that my name was on that kayak, they had even just wiped it down for me and it would be ready for me Saturday. I explained again that I was concerned about it being sold before I could get there but was assured it was fine. Saturday I arrived just as the kayak I had "purchased" was leaving in the bed of another persons pickup. Brian apologized, said he had messed up, etc. none of which does me any good. A specific trip was made to Stowe. If I'd had any indication I should get there earlier I would have. I'm not sure if this is incompetence or a lack of ethics on their end but unfortunately I, as a consumer, have no recourse but to complain. Maybe someone in the future will be aware that this is not a business that lives up to it's word.

They said the best they could do is $579.99 plus tax and a $20 assembly fee. My local bike shop warned me not to buy the rebox bike rack saying it was "refurbished" and "missing parts" and "had no warranty". I quickly pointed out that the RackWarehouse.com site said it was BRAND NEW and came with the FULL MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. With that the sales guy at my local store walked away. Ok. Well, I figured, either way I'm not buying it from you. Shame too because they've always been top notch for matching prices, great quality and an amazing service shop. I called RackWarehouse.com. They explained that sometimes the boxes get so mishandled by the original delivery people when it comes from Thule that they can't change shipping it out to a customer that way and have to rebox it. They even said my local shop likely gets them with damaged boxes but if they have a mandatory assembly fee then no customer would ever know it. He told me the rack was brand new, had a full warranty, was never refurbished and could be returned if I was in any was dissatisfied. Then he went on to say he said he could also recommend some other reputable web sites he's used for items they don't stock to do a price comparison on the rack if I wasn't comfortable using them after what my local store told me. I mean honestly, how many places would send a customer to a different site just to keep them satisfied? I live in Long Island, NY, ordered the REBOXED rack that day, and it came from Vermont the next day. As stated on the site ground S&H is free but there was a $20 fee because it was an oversized item plus $509.99 for the rack and NO sales tax. $529.99 total!! It's BRAND NEW and was SO well packaged I had trouble getting the box and all of its protective cardboard off it. The video on the RackWarehouse.com site was great! Assembled and installed it in an hour! Thanks again RackWarehouse.com - you definitely have a lifetime customer in me!
