Order the key like pasta with blacken Mahi fish Wife ordered the blacken Mahi sandwich both really good nice spot with live music in key largo can't beat it

Skipper's Dockside was one of my favorite lunch spots in the Keys. Eating lunch next to the dock takes me back to my childhood. The sounds, the scents, the casual vibe; I loved the atmosphere. The Key Largo Platter was delicious with mahi-mahi, conch fritters, and shrimp. All were battered and fried but they were surprisingly light. The conch fritters were on the small size but still good. Cole slaw was typical but nothing special. Service was good and everyone was friendly.

Been to Skipper's twice. Worth your visit. Love their great service that compliments awesome food. Not a tourist trap. By boat or car, great place to hang out and relax.

We always come here when visiting from WPB . Staying at the Marriott and was nice to be able to walk over. Bartenders always nice and enjoyed the gentleman playing music and singing. Happy hour special of coconut I very enjoyed,it was the dipping sauce that made it ! Honey had it for Nashville chicken ,gets it everywhere. Good flavor yet the sauce would be better on the side. Too much made the roll fall apart and hard to eat. Will b back , always do

You're paying for the vibes and the amazing outdoor seating tiki hut. The staff is very nice but it's overpriced. It's definitely upscale but with above average food. I got the lobster Mac and cheese. It was market price. I lost on that price for the lobster I got. I do have to blame me because I should have asked more questions. I would pass on that next time. The coconut shrimp was amazing and the sauce had a little kick to it! So was amazing yo dip fries into as well. I also ordered Mai Tai ! It was good but 18$ and I will only get one from a plastic cup. Overall, this would be a great date night spot or fancy dinner but I think way better places feel more local!

Skipper's Dockside looked like a promising lunch option, but our experience was a bit of a mess. The service was SLOW, despite not being busy. The other couple of tables around us complained multiple times. When we did get our food, it was a miss. The shrimp were way overcooked, the coleslaw was vinegar-based with lots of red onion and just tasted off, and there was no sauce for the conch fritters (and no server that returned so we could ask for it). The fries and shrimp were cold but the fish and fritters were hot. The key lime pie was good, but I wouldn't return just for that. Considering our server was pretty MIA, it was super odd that waited tableside for me to put my credit card down once she finally brought the check. There are too many places in the area providing better food and service to give Skipper's another try.

Loved the vibe and location of this bar /restaurant. Staff was amazing . Shoutout to Sonja and Marcus who were amazing behind the bar.

Met a friend here for lunch a couple weeks back. It was busy, but nowhere near full. I was surprised how every employee we encountered was from the mainland. There was zero locals vibe. Service was attentive and we looked out on the marina and watched the African Queen putter down the canal and come back. We both ordered salads, which were huge, and they arrived quickly. My friend took a lot of hers home (she had chicken on top), while I finished mine. She had 2 white wines and I just drank water. My bill was $13 for the salad. Her bill was $47. Turns out while she had asked for "house white wine", they had served her more expensive white wine. Being local, we see this as a trick pulled by mainland servers. This is also likely why we were the only locals there. Double check what you order and what you actually get.

The overall look and vibe of the place is very nice. Drinks were good I got the key lime coconut rum and it was delicious tasted just like key lime . The food took a very long time to come that was really the biggest downside for me. I got the fish tacos and they were very delicious the salsa in top was great, I also got the coconut shrimp which was OK the sauce was sweet, I tried the mahi sand which and it was also good.

We went here yesterday on a mini staycation. Christopher MC David was our waiter and knew the menu well. He made excellent recommendations and the food was top notch. We liked the ambiance. There was a man playing covers of old rock songs and it wasn't louder, overpowering and made the environment. Very laid-back. Everything was exceptional. Our only complaint was the excessive amount of flies. If there was a way they could get some of those zappers would be great. Otherwise it was amazing!!

Michael B.

They have both a large inside and outside. The outside has a ton of bar seating, slightly over the river canal. It was a typical Florida boardwalk bar. The inside was less divey and more of a resturant flare. The staff were talkative. Limited beer options and the one kicked. I didn't enjoy the one I had but that wasn't on them. They only gave 1 napkin, no extra bowl for peal and eat shrimp. The outside bar smelled like stale beer. And restroom doesn't smell better. Draft beers are 6-8 dollars for 12 oz. A pigeon pooped 18 inches from me. Music was Tom Petty, Jimmy Buffet Florida vibes. They have 6 TVs outside. And many inside.

Kim B.

What a fun find in Key Largo! The drinks were spectacular and the view is even better! We will definitely be back next time visiting. The restaurant was decorated awesome and the waiter was knowledgeable about food items!

Allison Q.

I had my best bite in the Keys here. The shrimp po boy was maybe my favorite sandwich I've ever had. The service was great, we were offered a spot inside when it started raining. We sat on the covered patio right on the water and the vibes were immaculate. Perfect last night to our trip. Get the po boy!

Was in Key Largo visiting a long time resident, and she took us by Skipper's Dockside, because her late husband owned it before Skipper's in 2015.....we were there for happy hour and enjoyed drinks and delicious appetizers. The waitress was very friendly. It was nice to finally see what I had been hearing about for so many years. Would highly recommend Skipper's Dockside. read more

We were a group of 14 and everything was good in the beginning. Later on, the sun was hitting our table and we moved out of the sun a few feet but still ordering food and drinks and the manager Tony was rude and condescending saying we are playing musical chairs. We spend a lot of time in the keys and will not be coming back. read more

We ordered the fish tacos, fish and chips and shrimp plate with an order of conch fritters for appetizer. The tacos were "wet". I have never had a fish taco with such lackluster taste that dripped with tomato water. The fish was small previously frozen then burnt when deep fried with a greasy beer batter. The fries were good. The shrimp were greasy and tasted like old grease was used. The conch fritters were ok. Neither great nor horrible. I do not recommend this place. The outdoor dining and ambiance was nice. read more

The dockside table was great location and server was good. The conch chowder and flat bread pizzas were good. Unfortunately although well presented the ceviche du jour was not good. Neither my wife or I could finish it. Had a weird aftertaste. Not sure if it was because it was in a coconut milk dressing or what. In any case it was a disappointment and we will try someplace else next time. However for a happy hour beer & flatbread pizza this would be a good place to go. read more

We came here and were amazed by the atmosphere. Really laid back and chill. The outdoor dining area is beautiful over-looking the harbor. They even have a sand section with fire pits and corn hole. The food is AMAZING. The nachos and key lime pie were to die for. Not to mention the corona Rita's that were awesome! They have a live performer who sets the tone for a great night. Found this spot with the help of yelp and and the great reviews. We were seated right away on the outside deck as the one man band was setting up for a Sunday afternoon. Beautiful scenery on a marina with pelicans and we even got to see THE African Queen cruise by. We started with the calamari, hands down the best My husband and I have ever enjoyed. Colleen was our server ( I think her father must be a dentist with that perfect smile) We ordered the jerk chicken sandwich with the mango coleslaw and a pesto shrimp flatbread. Both dishes were excellent and presented beautifully. We will return, Thank you Colleen! read more

Food has always been great the two times I have been here. Service on the other hand had been horrible. One time the waitress forgot to place our order and the other took 30 mins+ to bring the bill. Food is pretty good, but the service was mediocre. Mostly because the average age of all the servers and bartenders is 20, so the value of customer service is lost here. They're all chatting with each other and playing on their phones and laughing it up, meanwhile your order may be wrong and your drink will be empty for way too long. Our server got my dinner wrong and seemed very annoyed I asked her to fix it, she lost interest in us after that. Brought us our check before we even asked for it, which to me was a signal that she was ready for us to leave I guess. We moved to the bar outside and the live music was fun and drinks were tasty. read more

Went here right after the Key Largo Princess Glass Bottom Cruise. The atmosphere was amazing with live music. Our main issue was with the service. We waited 45 mins for our food to come out. Our server only came by once during that time to check in on us. Didn't even offer a refill of water. And this was at 3:30pm on a random Sunday with 5 tables that are full outside. Only when I went inside to wash my hands did she pop up from sitting and talking with the other servers and ran to the monitor to check on the food. Then she came back outside and changed servers with someone else. I will say the food was a solid 4 stars. I recommend the calamari and nachos. Had the shrimp tacos that were a bit salty. read more

I never write reviews like ever, but let me tell you what.. if you want to have your socks knocked off try the fried calamari. Best I've ever had IN MY LIFE! Not only was it not over fried but it isn't super chewy. On top of that it is in some fantastic Asian sauce and a spicy pepper aioli on the side to dip in. Fantastic, if you go here you have to try it! read more

My family mostly enjoyed the food they ordered and the atmosphere was great. My grandma didn't like her salad though and sent it back. They kindly removed it from the bill. But I have a shellfish allergy so when I ordered the fish and chips I let the waiter know. He told me that everything that is fried, fish, shell fish, French fries etc. are all fried together. Therefore, everything would be contaminated. In this day and age, that is absolutely crazy. There are SO MANY restaurants that are accommodating to people's allergies. This was just so disappointing. And plus, who wants their French fries fried in the same oil as fish.. not sure if other restaurants do this but it isn't very sanitary or appealing. read more

I went inside and found 1 empty seat at the bar. I was wearing a mask and politely asked if anyone was sitting in the seat. The woman to my right freaked out and said she would not allow me to sit there due to social distancing. The whole bar area was packed with people. The people at the bar next to me even made a comment to her that she can't control the bar rules. I waited patiently since the the rude lady said they were leaving shortly. The rude bar tender threatened to kick me and others supporting me out of the bar saying "we all just can't along, you will have to leave". The couple left and I sat down. I told the manager but he didn't really care. I ordered some soup and a cocktail but the bartender continued to tell me I was wrong. I was so disgusted, I had to leave. Dang Covid is messing people up in a bad way. I will never support this place again. #takingadvantageoftourists read more

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I must say taking my trip down to Key Largo I was concerned about the places that I might be eating at. I decided to use yelp to look up restaurants near me all staying at Baker's Cay resort. Skippers dockside was one of the first options and I must say it is nothing short of amazing. They had multiple TVs and not only did They had my favorite baseball team the Tampa Bay Rays playing their playoff game against Houston, they as well had the Giants playing against the Falcons on the NFL network. Their large tiki hut with many fans and live music was the perfect atmosphere. I ordered the key Largo tacos blackened and with the mango salsa which was out of this world. My friend decided to go with the chicken Caesar that was cooked to perfection and had the chicken blackened as well. The dressing was the perfect amount. The drinks were reasonably priced and I must say if you're going to eat in key Largo you need to come to Skipper's dockside you will not regret it. This review was worth posting after months of me not posting because of how good the service and the food was! read more

We understand being short of staff as an issue, thus a wait of 45 minutes is not the end of the world. But when the manager kicks us off a table next to the bar while waiting with an open tab is nuts. There are 3-8 tops, 2-4 tops, and 3-2 tops empty and you are telling your paying customers they need to stand and wait. That's still not the end of the world even going past the 45 minute wait- but the bartenders can't look up to see us standing waiting for a drink. Owner needs to be onsite. The worse customer service ever. We got in our boat and left without eating. read more

I guess the 4 star rating are from table service or expectations were different. Skipper's has the best drink menu in Key Largo as far as I know. The food is on point including the appetizers. The bartenders are friendly and the service is timely. The place is happening, so I could see a wait happening. We arrive early or late and sit at bar for fresh cocktails and good apps. View is nice. It is not white table service, but it is one of our top 3 in Key Largo. read more

Spectacular. A great new find in key largo. Food was above average. Nice menu. Atmosphere rocked. Really nice. Had calamari and would recommend. Had fish tacos and blackened mahi. Again above average. FYI - fish taco comes tempura. But you can order it grilled or blackened. I did not learn this until after I got the food. Would definitely prefer blackened. Still, tempura was good. Nate was our server. Above average and fairly attentive. Overall, a solid recommend. Definitely worth a trip to. And I give it a five star rating for being worth my time and money in key largo where it is challenging to find good food imho. read more

Loved it! I went there with the family after a day of scuba diving and it was truly complementary to this beautiful day. The place wasn't loud and crowded, it was indeed relaxing and enjoyable. Most of us had the Fish Tacos and they were absolutely delicious, as we were told they were the local's favourite. We really wanted to try the Key Lime Pie since it comes from this region but our waitress told us it wasn't baked here and it came from a Pie factory, we were a little bit disappointed... The reason why I'm giving a 4 stars review is for the waitress service. She wasn't there when we needed her and when she was there she gave us the impression she didn't want to be here, serving us. Finally, I recommend this place, I will definitely go back if I'm in town. Ps: they got wifi but I'm guessing you'll be to busy enjoying your meal! read more

Loved the lobster Loved the lobster bisque…read moreFriendly waitress and beautiful atmosphere!

Casual. Comfy atmosphere. Friendly staff…read more We started with the Conch House sampler and swapped out the jalapeños for more shrimp and fritters. The sampler comes with two conch fritters, two coconut shrimp, two bacon wrapped items (which we replaced), cracked conch, and lobster and conch ceviche. I have to say this while it's fresh in my mind. The moment I had the lobster and shrimp ceviche, I got chills. Just an incredible burst of flavor. Tiny bit of heat at the end but nothing overwhelming. Just really, really good. The conch fritters are solid too. Chewy, not over breaded, and served with two sauces. One is sweet and one is more of a mayo style. There's also something that eats like a conch curry puff situation. I liked the cracked conch better personally, but both are worth trying. The coconut shrimp is also really good. The sampler also comes with tortilla chips on the side. The lobster bisque is delicious. Great flavor with little chunks of what I'm pretty sure is lobster throughout. Nothing more to add really. It's just good. The mahi and avocado dish has a nice seared taste to it. Not flame broiled exactly, but that kind of grilled sear that you want on fish. The pico de gallo is similar to what came with the ceviche, and it works really well here. All in at $75.

Here's how Skipper's earned a one star rating from me. The beautiful hostess heckled us for only having a party of two. Prices were high including the $14 they would charge you for them to cook your own catch. The high prices were probably due to over staffing. Although remarkably over staffed; no one seemed to notice the big dog, that they welcomed into the bar/dining area when it squatted and moved it's bowels right there on the BAR/DINING AREA FLOOR. The bright side of our visit was the live entertainment. The keyboard player/lounge singer did not let the fact that he was on break stop him from an editorial. He hilariously described the deposit that seemed far larger than the substantially-sized adult German Sheppard could possibly have been capable of, as a "steaming, wet MOUNTAIN of crap." And made sure everyone knew how ripe it was. I understand, dogshit happens. But you just need to be ready. Unfortunately, the half dozen other employees surrounding the mountain, didn't seem to have the first idea of what to do about the situation. One of the wait staff asked "do we have towels?" Then the food came. We had ordered a platter of fish, shrimp, French fries, coleslaw, and conch fritters. All deep fried. It seemed like the frier was not hot enough. This from someone who tried deep-frying his own food at home exactly one time. It's not as easy as nearly everyone makes it seem. The result was the worst shrimp I ever tasted. By far. Terrible whitefish. The conch fritters were by far the best thing on the platter. Sadly, they still were under-fried. The French fries were edible. So, I ate them. After eating the fritters and fries, I just couldn't seem to stomach the papaya cabbage coleslaw. When we left, we did not see the beautiful hostess, nor the other three people who greeted us on the way in. No one spilled anything as we passed below the decking while we walked away. But I still have the image of the wet spot the enormous pile of dog crap left on the decking seared into my mind. I'm sure this four-star establishment can surpass the singular experience they provided my son and me. Bon appetite. Just don't feed it too your dog. read more

Although we don't live in the area, we make it a point to visit a few times each stone crab season. Key Largo has a special charm for us, and this particular spot has become one of our favorites. Typically, we stick to the restaurant where we indulge in fresh stone crabs, but serendipitously, we stumbled upon this gem nearby, and here we are. The Tiki theme throughout the restaurant instantly creates a cheerful and laid-back ambiance, perfectly complementing the coastal vibe. Situated right off the marina, we're treated to the sight of boats gliding gracefully by as I sip on a refreshing mojito, its minty flavor a delightful companion to the seaside scenery. We opted for a few uncomplicated dishes, eschewing anything too extravagant. The ceviche was a highlight, bursting with freshness and vibrant flavors that danced on the palate. The conch fritters, too, offered a satisfying taste that transported us further into this tropical paradise. The service was friendly and efficient, making our experience all the more enjoyable. Overall, this place is a lovely spot to unwind and soak in the atmosphere. read more

We were seated at 7:30 pm. The waitress took our order and all seemed fine. We received our appetizer and most of our drinks. They never brought my daughter's drink over. When the waitress came by my daughter said she never received her drink and please make sure it is not on the bill. At approximately 8:30 the waitress comes back to say the food will be out in a minute. 15 minutes later we asked to see the manager because still no food. We just wanted to pay for what we had and leave so we could go find somewhere else to eat. The manager gives us a hard time and says she cannot comp everything. We never asked for that! Just wanted to pay what we owed. She said she had to talk to the server and see what was going on. She finally comes back and tells us the server only put the food order in at 8:30 and it will still be a few more minutes. Again we reiterated we just want to leave. Finally she gave us the bill and we left. This is sad because we had been there once before and had a nice experience read more
