So good! I ordered the seafood chowder and the lobster roll. They were very generous with the amount of seafood in the chowder and it was all cooked very well. No pieces were overcooked and chewy. I have been to places where some pieces will be cooked perfectly but then some are overcooked. Everything was seasoned well too. The only things that prevented me from giving 5 stars is that the portion of coleslaw with the roll was very small. I would have rather had more of that and a smaller portion of fries. The fries were very average as well. Having said that, I don't mind these two things considering how great the seafood and prices are. My friend ordered the calamari and that was also delicious! My parents came to visit and wanted to eat authentic Maritime cuisine. You just can't get better seafood at affordable prices anywhere else. Calamari, Lobster, bacon-wrapped scallops with Maple glaze, fresh fried clams, Haddock, and shrimp three ways, curried coconut with spiced marmalade, fried shrimp, and grilled shrimp. Their homemade organic slaw and tartar sauce were icing on the cake. Carrot Cake, fried Mars bar with caramel, strawberries and cream, and fried kitkat draped in caramel, marshmallows and whipped cream. One of the best meals this family of five has ever had. My partner ordered the Jack Stack burger, which is burger topped with a few slices of smoked meat and cheese. I ordered the small fish and chips. My partner thought his burger and fries were so-so. The smoked meat was the real deal and he was sorry he didn't ordered the smoked meat sandwich instead. My fish was fresh and beautifully prepared with a light coating of batter and not dripping in oil. The small fish and chips comes with one rather small portion of fish. However, the freshness of the fish and excellent preparation more than made up for the quantity. The fries were slightly disappointing but certainly far from the worst we've had. My partner had the strawberry shortcake for dessert and didn't love it. I ordered the cheesecake topped with a strawberry coulis and it was delicious. The desserts are made in house. Our server was absolutely lovely. The restaurant was quite clean despite the carpeted floors. The men's washroom was clean. We will definitely return. read more

Was expecting more from Skipper Jacks from the reviews. This restaurant is an average looking 'Swiss Chalet/Red Lobster' type of casual restaurant. Lots of fried seafood on the menu, and of course Lobster. Prices were more expensive then what you would get near the coast, but I guess this is to be expected. Servers were friendly and helpful. I prefer my seafood not fried, and was looking for a lighter option. They suggested the seafood salad, and I had the dressing on the side. I added extra Lobster meat for $6. Hubby had the fish tacos and the kids had grilled cheese. When my salad came, it looked fresh and had bacon wrapped scallops, shrimp and lobster. There was a decent amount of lobster, but it didn't look like they had added the extra Lobster on. It took a while to flag down a waitress, but when we did she advised they had added extra. I would hate to see what the salad with the standard amount of lobster meat would look like. It would be pretty sad. All in all, we both enjoyed our meals and they were fresh and well prepared, worthy of a 4 star rating. The servers were friendly and helpful when ordering but once our food came, they were hard to track down. The ambiance could have been better. It was clean, but didn't look nautical or like a seafood shack at all, just like any other functional franchise you would find in a suburb. Had low expectations going to Skipper Jack's for lunch, but was pleasantly surprised by the fish tacos, which were pretty tasty. The menu was pretty standard fare for the region, but the fish tacos were on special that day (I think $4 each), and that turned out to be a good decision. I am surprised to see some really negative, nasty comments but I wasn't there and didn't taste the food so maybe they didn't have the quality of food we always get! Prices are very fair (contrary to some other comments) for seafood dishes and the quality is always incredible with exceptional taste. Skipper Jacks takes pride in sourcing local fish / seafood from either NB or NS so if the dish is a bit more than you would expect it to be, that is most likely the reason. Local sourced food is always a bit more but worth every penny. I pretty much get the fish tacos every time as they are a FAVOURITE!! The crispy, lightly battered fish is spilling out of the taco with a super flavourful corn salsa/relish on top. You get 2 full tacos with the dinner and fries. On Tuesdays, they have "Taco Tuesday" where these bad boys are $2.50/ea! What a deal!! The portions are just right - not too large, not small so you are getting a fair price (in my opinion) for your dish. Definitely worth a try if you like local, fresh and family oriented restaurant. I have heard that the food at Skipper Jack's was very good, but it has been closed for a long time. However, as of today's first visit, it is open for business. A friend and I went in the early afternoon and it was quiet. The decor is pleasant,but nothing remarkable. Our server was very good with just the proper balance between servings our needs and being unobtrusive and friendly. The pace was leisurely which is a bonus. The menu is not huge, but there is a decided direction of adding a little something unexpected and exciting to otherwise traditional dishes. Everything sounded so good that it took some time to decide. I chose the fish tacos,which were very good. The plate looked great when brought to the table. My friend had the fish burger which was also good. As an app we had the onion rings and were given half a dozen of a new crispy option they are testing. My friend and I disagreed on which were better, but our server got the comments she had asked for. I would recommend the crispy option. I would definitely go back to try more of the menu offerings. Prices were good and the overall experience was a good one. This one is definitely worth a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I have eaten here three times and gotten the lobster roll, seafood chowder, ancient mariner seafood salad, and fish and chips. Everything was amazing and you get tons of seafood for the price. Suburban shopping center-side, off-highway setting (not your cute, seaside lobster shack). Perfectly average, expensive for what you get. The "award winning" fried clams were fine, a little tough, sweetish seasoning in the breading. Alert for the little ones: while the fish & chips is properly battered the kids' fish bites are breaded and only okay. Biggest disappointment was the whole lobster. According to the server (who clearly didn't realize this was not a thing to be proud of) they steam it "fresh every morning," not to order, and then store it chilled. For those of us who prefer it hot, they toss the cold, cooked lobster in the steamer/boiler, which leaves you with a lobster that's a overcooked in the arms and tail and cold (!) in the body. For $40 for a 1.5 pounder, although the service was friendly and attentive, that's NOT a 5-star or even a 4-star experience. read more

I have been meaning to check out Skipper Jack's for a couple of years as I've heard great reviews and am in Moncton a couple of times a year. I went today with my family, everyone from a preschooler to a senior & the food was exceptional. We enjoyed the seafood chowder, smelts, fish & chips & mussels. We all shared & enjoyed every last bite. The service was good, they were attentive, the decor is simple and clean. We will definitely be back (& likely later this weekend!). The Lobster Rolls are wonderful, and if you are feeling extra hungry, add the extra lobster. Fries are good, homemade, but if you don't have a big appetite, you might want to ask for fewer. One thing that puzzled, why they got their meals before us, Also my seafood chowder plate was brimming to the edges with the broth, but I only found about 5 little hunks of fish at the bottom, while my relative's bowl was laden up with fish.
