I don't really give out 5 stars that often but this place really deserves it. I am still shocked and amazed at how good their burger is! I ordered the cheeseburger ($5) - kinda pricey compared to VJ's. But Mrs. Mike's burgers are bigger comparatively speaking. The cheeseburger is on a sesame bun, probably the size of a whopper. The patty is just slightly bigger than the bun and cooked with a slight crisp on the outside but still juicy inside - I love that! The flavour of the beef patty is perfectly seasoned and balances so well with the cheese, pickle, chili, onion and mustard. They don't put too much chili on their burgers so it's not as messy to eat but you still get the chili flavour. Of course I had to order their fries ($3). Now I'm torn on their fries because I was expecting the type of home cut fries (with the skin on) like at VJs but the ones here look and taste like McDonald's fries (although they taste a bit better than McDs). I have my moments when I love McD fries but when I am going to a local burger joint, I totally expect more "homestyle" fries. So maybe that pulls them down to 4.5??? I don't know...it's all subjective anyways and I'm neurotic enough to get a cheeseburger here and drive down to Broadway to get the fries at VJs. LOL. I was pretty full after finishing the cheeseburger and eating half the fries but I didn't feel too gross. You know that feeling when you've stuffed yourself with too much greasy food. So 5 stars for the cheeseburger and 4 stars for the fries = 4.5 stars, but I gave them the 5. The place seems pretty clean and organized in the kitchen. I was a little confused about where I was suppose to place my order as there are 2 widows (one in the front and one on the side). For the most part, it seemed like you order at the front, then wait for your order and then pick up and pay on the side window but then again some people did it differently. This place closes in the winter and closes at 7 pm so it's not a late night burger joint. There is no indoor seating as there are only picnic tables on the right side, which is about as scenic as a parking lot/alley - I took mine to go. All the prices listed on the board include taxes so it'll be a round number when you pay (CASH ONLY). They have a king burger (which I'm curious to what in includes), no fat boy but maybe the king burger is their version of one??? They also serve chili fries, milkshakes, and chicken fingers. Note: they are open seasonally (closes for the winter). Tues-Sat 11 am to 7 pm.

Plus, we were hungry and needing a quick bite after Tim Hortons. Thinking this was going to be your standard fare fast food place, I didn't go in with wild expectations. We headed in and started to look over the menu. The food offering was about what I expected from a place like this. Burgers, wraps, french fries and other typical fast food... food. BUT!!! Have no fear! They have poutine here! Yes, they do serve the National Food here. No worries there. Did I get it? No, I didn't want my first ever tasting of poutine from a fast food place. I did have poutine later in this trip but that is a story for another day. We eventually ordered, took our seats and waited for our food to be made. It only took them a few minutes to have our food ready to go and the cashier brought it out to our table. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and was not ready for what I got. I was expecting just a chicken sandwich with spices in the breading. What I got was a chicken that was served on a ciabatta bun(?) with a slathering of spicy sauce on top of some lettuce. Being surprised by the actual sandwich, I was excited to see how it tasted. Let me tell you. This was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had from a fast food place. The flavor, maybe due to it being a spicy, was WOW! It had a nice slight burn to it without needing the fire department on standby. The chicken was juicy and complimented all the toppings/bun. Each bite was pure bliss... and followed by a sip of water to cool down the slight burn. I have a conspiracy that the food sold and served in Canada has stricter food regulations they have to follow than they do in the States. The food at this A&W and the rest of the food I had in Canada had this... jump in quality and flavor. It's hard to explain unless you try the food yourself. Even my cousin agreed that the food had a better quality and flavor to it than the food back home. Any who, that spicy chicken sandwich was incredibly delicious and only slightly singed my taste buds. I want to visit another A&W but I don't know if the ones in the States will have the same quality as their Canadian counterpart.

The people were pretty nice and I remember one time coming in here, broke and poor and someone saw me and gave me the rest of their potato fries and I was very grateful.
