I have been visiting The Skin District for over a decade and I continue to visit this spa because the service has been consistent in offering excellent care to their customers from the welcome and reception area to the cleanliness and tranquility to the accommodating massage therapists. I've experienced a variety of the services they offer and it always meets the need. I've recommended this space to others, brought a couple of people with me and even gift certificates for others! I am the pickiest of picky when it comes to getting my brows done. There have been too many bad experiences over the years to trust just anyone. Before I moved, my previous esthetician told me to choose another esthetician because they are artists and are typically more particular. I did a google search for an esthetician when I moved to Jackson and I found The Skin District and Lisa. A home run on the first try! She has never hurt me or left me dissatisfied. This place was highly recommended by several of my friends. Unfortunately, I had a pretty average if not disappointing experience. I scheduled massage here in the past. And most recently, had a prenatal massage, with the same massage therapist. I requested deep tissue massage, which was far from it. At best the pressure was light to medium. When filling out a form prior to my session, I did inform my massage therapist that I had leg cramps and it was an area of concern that I wanted to concentrate on. At the end, she never even touched my feet at all. Which was odd. The pressure was also light, and I pretty much just felt petted gently by my massage therapist rather than massaged. My husband told me to go do a spa day for our anniversary and after some research I found The Skin District. I called the day before I wanted to come in for a spa package and they were able to fit me in which is amazing. I decided last minute to go for the slightly cheaper package with only a 30 minute massage, the down to basics facial and a spa mani/pedi. My massage was awesome, facial was great but then we get to the mani/pedi. I inquired about upgrading to gel and she said that she didn't think we'd have time for that. Okay, I can understand scheduling appointments and such. I was a touch disappointed but I was just happy to be getting a mani/pedi. The pedicure was pretty good but as it ended I was pretty much sent out the door. After paying I sat in my car for about 10-15 minutes waiting for my toe polish to dry. I'd recommend that they come up with a nice sitting room for guests to hang out between services or while their nails dry. But wait, didn't I say that the package included a mani? How did that go? I paid for a mani and didn't receive one. I realized that I was being sent out without a manicure but as there wasn't time to upgrade the toes to gel I just assumed that there wouldn't be time to get a manicure too. I thought at the time that maybe I had misread the website and would check when I got home. So the services I did receive were pretty good. I do recommend finding a way to allow clients nails to dry without effectively kicking out but that's my only complaint about the services. I can't give any higher of a star rating though considering I didn't receive 1/4 of the spa package I paid for. I'll admit I probably should have said something then. read more

Crystal did an amazing job with my deep tissue massage. I get plenty of massages and it's always like rub five times on this side, rub 5 times on that side, now squeeze twice here and squeeze twice there haha it wasn't like that at all. Love my massages here and they always seem to fit me in even when I ask for a 90 minute. Waiting room is very clean and peaceful and the massage tech and rooms are very relaxing. They are about 10 more than other local spas but that's not too bad when you compare the level of service provided. read more

I went to the Skin District today. I have been to other places, where I had the worse brow definition. However, today I had Kaya, sorry if I didn't get the name spelled correctly. Finally, I found my brow girl! I am so thankful, for her. She was patient and asked me if my eye brows looked okay. I told her I wanted a little bit more taken off. She listened to me, no sarcasm. I can't believe I found a spa which I am completely satisfied with. After a nervous breakdown I had about the state of my skin I decided to call a dermatologist. Turns out dermatologists are a hot commodity around here and I was told that they couldn't get me in until at least next month... F@#*%!! I vowed not to leave the house until this was taken care of. After searching many spa websites I ran across two that seemed fair priced. I called them both but only one really took the time to answer my questions so I made an appointment for the next morning. The Skin District is awesome. The atmosphere was very relaxing and no one was in the waiting room except what seemed to be a flustered receptionist on the phone. She said she would be right with me and soon was. After filling out some paperwork she took me back to the room... Turns out she was the aesthetician, the receptionist (until the real one came in), and the owner. Lisa, was super friendly and nice and answered all my questions. She told me the best thing for my skin was a salicylic acid peel. First she gave me the best facial I ever had. I was so satisfied. Then she did the peel which didn't bother me at all. She used some nifty instruments I've never encountered before and it kinda excited me to have all that fancy stuff done to my face. I've never had such a complex facial done before, it was soothing and my face felt much better. They are also in the same office as a plastic surgeon so they can prescribe you medication (like Retin-A that I got) without having to make a doctor appointment. Best part was all of this was only $90 which I thought was a great deal. Better than going to a dermatologist and spending $75 just to see the doctor and no facial. Actually, most everything on their service menu looked like a great value to me... I can't wait to go back! read more

This is a fantastic spa which is run by three women who formerly worked at Trio Day Spa. Melissa does my waxing, and she is wonderful. It's the most thorough and painless waxing I've ever had done, and I have gone to her for nearly four years. They have waxing, massages, manis and pedis, and facials that I know of. This place is totally amazing. I came here with tons of questions and they delivered the answers. Everyone here is highly skilled and knowledgeable. I have very sensitive skin and they were able to target all my problem spots. I came out feeling quite rejuvenated and fresh. I came here based on reviews which were very misleading I find out after my visit. My facial was breathtaking! Do not get a pedicure here! They don't put gel and/or shellac on your toes which I've never heard before in all my years of getting pedicures. After my pedicure she sends me out and says it should take 35 minutes to dry without so much as attempting to put a fan on it for 5 minutes or anything. Naturally as soon as anyone walks out it will smear. The young lady doing my pedicure seemed uncomfortable, nervous, and not well trained. It was an overall bad experience and money wasted. I ended up going somewhere else and getting my toes re-polished just the way I wanted them. Everyone's demeanor was not welcoming at all. Even when I asked about adding a service to my facial she wasn't very pleasant. Her work however was impeccable but the staff could definitely be more friendly. There was another another young lady that was doing pedis and manis and she seemed very pleasant and in tune with her clients. This was my first time here and probably my last unfortunately. I was in town visiting a friend that had moved there a year ago and could use a pick-me-up! I suggested a mani/pedi and she found this place. I admit that they 2 ladies that did our service were nice and polite but these services were NOT worth is the prices! $90 for a mani/pedi and my mani had bubbles in the polish and was a chipped and worn looking before a week and I don't even didn't do dishes or clean house as I was traveling all week. My suggestion is - unless you really like overpaying for subpar work... spend your money somewhere else! read more

I randomly started browsing the area for a great spa to help me get ready for the summer. Not knowing anything about The Skin District, I decided to give them a call and the receptionist was so very nice! She was accommodating and really put forth an effort to get me an appointment that would work well with my schedule/needs. She even gave me tips for a first-timer like myself! When I arrived, I was very pleased by the appearance. When you walk in, the soft light and warm smiles make you feel right at home. Jane helped me and she was amazing! She and I talked during most of the session until the essential oils and calming music began to put me to sleep. She even stayed late to ensure that her job was done well. They focus on customer service and I felt as if I had known Jane forever. Job well done! I will continue to drive 100+ miles for an experience like this one!
