Great selection of trees on a massive lot. The only thing is the pricing is a little bit high.

Ruffing’s Tree Farm - A nice path in the blue spruce trees leading to the white spruce

This place is great! We took a slight detour on the way home from State College to Pittsburgh to…read morecut our own Christmas tree on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. They had two kinds of trees available, which included blue spruce in the near field and white spruce in the next field down. The trees were very nice ranging in sizes up to 10 feet tall. You are welcome to bring your own saw, but they have some nice Fiskars saws available (a family there had an old two man saw that they had been using for 22 years!). The trees are on a gentle slope and are not too far away from where you park. There were plenty of trees to choose from and most were well shaped, full, and pleasing to the eye. Much better than another tree farm we went to the weekend before, which we left empty handed and another place we have traditionally gone to, but has become too picked over. The best part about this place may be that ANY tree is only $29!!! This is probably the best deal you will find for a real tree. Also, they'll bale it for only $1. In addition, they have live wreaths for only $10. Plus, they are dog friendly! I think this place will become our family's yearly tradition for real Christmas trees. It is a bit out of the way for someone near Pittsburgh, but not too far. I highly recommend making this your family's choice as well!

When I come out here, I think of Linus and his search for the most "sincere" pumpkin patch. Except…read morethat I'm always here for a Christmas tree instead. And yes, this urban cowboy really loves finding and cutting down his own tree in a small forest off a country road in Butler county. Heck, I'd drive out here just for the smell. God bless us, every one! Two things I really like: 1. It's no-nonsense. No hay wagons or sleigh rides, no Santas or Chipmunks music. You drive in, walk through their beautiful little forest, pick one out, cut it down, and drag it out. They bale it for you and you're on your way. 2. It's low-key, and the trees are never too picked over. We always pick up the tree late in the season, so it's important not to be left only with scraggly and weird-shaped trees. (We put candles on the tree instead of electric lights -- an old German tradition -- so it's important to wait until close to Christmas before picking it up.) In short, we're glad this place isn't more popular, and the tree we come away with is always gorgeous. We get Colorado Spruce, but they also have Scotch Pine, Douglas Fir, Blue Spruce, Concolor Fir. An 8-foot tree runs about $20. The dudes who run the place are a surly, cheerless bunch, probably understandable since they have to stand out in the elements all day and deal with city folk like me. Little do they realize that their surliness only seems to add to the sincerity of the place for me. I ask you, Linus, would the place be as sincere if they put on Santa hats and had faux Christmas cheer? Great trees, good folk. (The tree farm is "family owned and operated for over 50 years".) I highly recommend it.

Not clear that they are still in business. Went down yesterday, much of the place has been turned…read moreover to oil and gas drilling. The hillside has been cleared and flattened. No evidence of preparation for tree sales next week.
