First (and best) chauffeured ski rental experience I've ever had. I have skied in Italy many times, Colorado and now California for the first time. Usually I get skis from the base of the mountain, but I read great reviews about this place and they were everything people said they were. They showed up right on time and we didn't feel rushed, brought two pairs of boots and skis and it really felt white glove throughout the whole process. We opted to pay extra for the performance skis but I believe they give everyone two options of equipment. Quality of gear was great. We needed to return our skis a day early and they were so accommodating. This service saves you SO much time. My husband and I truly felt like we were in great hands the entire time. I am not sure who idea this was, but they deserve a prize. What a joy to be privately fitted for my skis and boots without the hassle and chaos of getting fitted for rental equipment at a resort. The ski butlers came to my townhouse to fit me for my skis. They were on time and the fitting took about 10 minutes. The gentleman who fit me was very knowledgeable about the area and gave good advice regarding navigating the different resorts in Lake Tahoe. Once I was done with the skis I set them out on the back porch and they picked them up that evening. What could be easier? Ski Butlers is the only way to go for rental skis! read more

First, I want to say that this poor review is by no means a reflection on this company's amazing employees. The employees I dealt with were professional, kindhearted, and helpful. Because of that, I made sure to give a generous tip to each of them (yes, be sure to tip these guys if you use their service). This review pertains to their snowboard equipment, which is shoddy, low quality, and unacceptable, especially their snowboard boots. I need to add that I grew up snowboarding on the east coast and even did a year of undergraduate in Vermont. And though I've lived in Hawaii for over a decade, we try to take a ski trip every year. I say this to underscore that I have plenty of experience with snowboard boots and I've rented snowboard gear from shops around the world. And in all those years, never have I had such garbage equipment. The snowboard boots this company provides are downright dangerous. I had told the shop weeks prior that I was a size 11.5, which I assumed they recorded. I also assumed, wrongfully, that they would have a variety of sizes and styles to find a perfect fit. After a long trip from Hawaii, it was nice to have the gear delivered. However, when they got here, they only had two pairs of boots for me to pick from: a size 10 and a size 11. Both pairs were old and decrepit. The size 10 wasn't happening (I've been an 11.5 since I was 12 years old). And they informed me that they don't have half sizes. It would have been nice to know that earlier. I could fit into the 11, but the ankles were somewhat loose. This was all they were offering me, so I decided to make due.Could I have fit into a 12 better? Maybe, but I went with the 11s because again, that's all they had--two pairs of boots to pick from and neither were my size. I kind of thought they would show up with multiple sizes and decent gear. Boy, was I wrong, and did I pay the price. After the first day of riding, my ankles were somewhat sore. After the second day, my ankles were torn to shreds. I basically developed ridiculously painful second degree burns with huge blisters on my ankles. Also, keep in mind that I wore the exact same socks and pants I've worn for over half a dozen previous trips. This was not my fault--these are just garbage boots. I called them on my third morning to switch out the boots and they promptly came over. This time, they showed up with a somewhat newer, slightly less decrepit pair of size 11s and a brand new pair of size 10s (again, I'm an 11.5). Oh, and they offered me a free pair of socks. That was nice and all, but the damage was done. I tried to wrap my foot with moleskin and athletic tape and ride the third day in the "newer" boots but they, too, were just garbage. So at this point, with one day left to snowboard before returning to Hawaii and insanely painful ankles, and after no success in getting decent boots from this company, I just went to Reno and purchased a pair of boots. Long story short: My super expensive annual snowboard trip was essentially ruined by a pair of super shoddy snowboard boots. The employees were wonderful, but their snowboard boots are absolute garbage. If you have to rent snowboard gear, I highly suggest going to a shop where you can find far better options and sizes. Don't let shoddy gear ruin your hard-earned ski trip. At this point, I'm just hoping that I can heal in a few weeks and that I have no permanent scarring. I'm really bummed and looking forward to putting this year's trip behind me. In the future, I will never use this company. Sorry for the bad review guys. Those guys are the best! No surcharge for dropping skis at Heavenly. Another possibility is to just leave skis at condo's door and they will pick it up after 4pm. Prompt and courteous delivery. I had used Ski Butlers Northstar once before and had a great experience. Unfortunately this time, they "scammed" me on pricing. Their website says "$79" for the package we wanted to rent, but when the final bill came I was charged "$99". When I asked about why the difference I was told there was a "premium season" up-charge. This charge is not documented on the web site, on any signage at the location, and no employee communicated the additional charge. The manager has refused to address this overcharge. Beware and get your calculator when you check your bill because they do not itemize any charges to make it easy to see what you were being charged. read more

this service as recommend by the place we stayed at the village at north star. Easiest time I have ever had renting equipment. We had 2 adults and 2 kids renting skis and they all the equipment was great. They come to your room and do your fitting, putting everything in your ski locker for you. They came and picked everything up from our ski locker and we didn't even need to be present. My first pair of boots were a little tight and they came to my room again with new boots, only took about 10 minutes. Highly recommend them and will definitely use them again. read more

These guys are great! Half the price of the rentals on the mountain and they deliver and pick up?!! We all got to sit around eating dinner in our lodge while one by one getting fitted for skis in the living room! We had a decent sized group with different needs for each renter: some needed goggles, some helmets, some both, some one day, some two....they accommodated all. They even accommodated our need to cut the ski trip short bc a storm was coming in. No problems. They reduced our original number of days accordingly (unlike our non refundable lift tickets on the mountain!) Will definitely use gain. read more

Ski Butlers gave us fantastic service, bringing the skis and equipment right to our cabin. It was my birthday weekend, and the delivery fit our busy schedule (later at night). And when we chose a boot a bit too small, they brought a different boot out to set us up for the next day of skiing! The price was slightly better than the mountain, with no lines and delivered to our house. The attitude and attention of the staff was fantastic, probably the best part. We highly recommend them. What a breeze! First time we used them at Squaw last month. We arrived at the hotel at 1:30 in the morning form the East coast and they arrived at 7:15 as scheduled fit our boots to the skis actually in the hall vs. our room so didn't even wake the kids . We stayed in the Olympic Village at Squaw Valley Lodge. We used the Ski Butlers guys and they were fantastic. We were there during Christmas week. I was afraid that given I was booking my reservations the night before I needed the equipment, that they might be over-booked. They were able to accommodate me and the service was exceptional. It was fantastic not having to wait in a long line at the typical ski rental shop. It was great having them come right to your room at the resort and fit everybody in the family. Everyone in the group got what they needed. Everyone was happy with their equipment. Then when done skiing they came to pick up all the equipment from our room. So convenient. This was our second rental with ski butlers, but a new mountain. It was as perfect as our first experience. We were met in our 3rd floor condo for a great fitting. After quickly fitting us our equipment was taken down and stored in our ski locker. We also had a rainy day on our trip that we decided to not ski and wait for the next day when it was snowing. They allowed us to mark it as a non-ski day and didn't charge us for the additional day since we were not skiing. PERFECT customer service!!! We are customers for life!!! We talked with Alex the first day we got to Tahoe. We were told they may not be able to get to us that night but for sure the next morning and they would call us when they were coming to fit us. The next morning came and no call. We called back and left several messages none of which were responded to. Thank God we were able to get Black Tie! We were able to get fitted quickly and their prices were great. I definitely would not recommend Ski Butlers. I understand being busy but to simply ignore customers after assuring them you could fit them and then never returning a call for me that warrants no repeat service. read more

Getting equipment is so easy. We arrived in North Tahoe at a VRBO and our butler was there on time to provide me excellent equipment for our 4 days of skiing. From the street you couldn't even see the house from all the snow they have had but they found us with no problem. The equipment worked great when I used it but one day Alpine Meadows was closed and we could get to Squaw due to police action. Ski Butlers quickly credited my day of not skiing and I was impressed as well as my friends I was skiing with. Pick up was at Squaw and you know how big it is and they found me with almost no problem in the mass of humidity moving off the slope. These guys work hard and do a great job. Went to Northstar for the weekend and needed to rent some skis. Popped into Ski Butlets after reading all the five star reviews on Yelp and wasn't disappointed. The guys working there were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and super chill. I was out of there in about 15 minutes with some great equipment, fitted just for me and with the added bonus if something went wrong on the mountain I could call them up and they would be out there with new equipment. Didn't have a problem with the equipment but it's nice to know you have that as an option. After a long day at the slopes, I called them up and they picked up the skis at our house. You'd be crazy not to use Ski Butlers if you are in the Tahoe area and need equipment. I was there over Christmas and even during that busy time they were on time, helpful and brought tons of great equipment to our cabin. I almost thought it was too good to be true when I called them but we used them for both skis and snowboards and we couldn't have been happier. Cheaper than renting on the mountain and about 100 times more convenient. I even liked one of the pairs of skis they brought me so much that I bought them. These guys are fantastic! They come to you and get you fitted for all of your gear and then pick up at the end of your trip. They are quick and knowledgable, and best of all, there to support you and help you to have the best experience on the mountain with snow reports, on-site gear adjustments, etc. The cost is on par what it is to rent equipment at Northstar, and you don't have to worry about the wait/lines taking away from your ski time. Oh my goodness...I can't believe I am just now finding out about this service. I will never walk in to a ski rental place again. We arrived around 4:00 and the concierge told us about Ski Butlers. We called and they were at our condo by 6:30. It took about 10/15 minutes for them to get my family of five set up with all of our ski gear. We were expecting to pay a premium for the service, but it was on par with The staff that came to help us were professional and super friendly. My kids actually asked if THEY could be their ski instructors. It was AMAZING. rentals everywhere else. I ended up having to work a few days during the trip and the even worked with me on my daily rental rate. Can't say enough about Ski Butlers!!!! read more
