The name says it all ~ "BestFit Boots". As a lifelong skier, boots are a critical component of performance and comfort. Most everyone can sell, but few are truly exceptional at fitting. The owner (S) and his team are remarkable at their craft. A new boot liner upgraded my game. WOW, what a difference a great boot fitter can make. Performance and comfort have returned. Highly recommend this business, its owner and staff! 5 STARS + read more

We came here on the recommendation of two other stores and this store did not disappoint. My husband and I both needed new boots. Jordan and Michael helped us and they are both great. They took their time asking questions about our ski habits and matched us with appropriate boots. We didn't have an appointment so we were lucky they were able to see us. Overall we had a great experience and highly recommend this store. read more

Excellent boot fitting and mold. The team was very knowledgeable and was able to get me into the right boot, size, punch out the toe box and help with custom molds. I will go back the next time I need new bolts. read more

I'm back! After the awesome job they did with my downhill boots, I stopped by to see what could be done about some backcountry boots that have never given me anything but trouble. After trying to break them in myself, swapping liners, and even trying aftermarket insoles they were still killing my feet every time I switched from walk to ski. Within about 5 minutes they diagnosed the issue, made sure I understood what was likely the problem, we talked through options, and decided on trying a different set of insoles. They fitted and trimmed them up, and voila! Immediately I could feel the difference. We discussed what benefits custom inserts could bring, but there was no hard upsell, and decided if these worked then it was a great solution. All in all I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, with happy feet and a happy bank account. Took the boots out for a tour today and the difference was night and day. Save yourself a lot of headache and just go here first for your boots, trust me your feet will thank you! read more

Bestfit boots takes great care of my family! Jason really listens to what i need and what I'm feeling and his recommendations have been spot on whether it's selecting new boots for me or letting me know that that the boot I have on hand isn't right for my junior racer (though he was also willing to work with us to make adjustments to improve the junior boots). He's spent significant time adjusting my footbeds as my needs have changed over time. They're feeling super this year! We also love BestFit for ski remounting and binding adjustments--the crew fits them in quickly and clearly explains any choices that I may need to make so that I come out of each interaction a bit more educated. read more

Sako and Jason spent an unlimited amount of time with my wife and I as we selected new boots. Not only were they both personable, there was no question they know their craft and guided us towards the right solutions. I will refer them to anyone I know needing new boots ! read more

I'll never go anywhere else for ski boots after the guys at BestFit helped me out! Sako and Jason fixed boots that were fitted incorrectly from another shop in an incredibly short amount of time and it made such a huge difference. On top of that, they were super kind throughout the process, very knowledgeable, and have literally decades of experience. I've been to several of the local shops in Truckee and unfortunately haven't been greeted with kindness on several occasions. BestFit is different. They truly care about their customers, and it shows through their work. read more

Cian and Jason are boot whisperers. They are so knowledgable, patient and kind...they are the Sherlock Holmes and Watson for boot problems. They solved my son's problem...his boot was hurting so much that he couldn't keep up with his kids and had to stop skiing for the day. Cian and Jason saved the day for him with some minor adjustments that made such a huge difference. I decided to tag along as I was having a terrible time getting into my boots. They showed me how stiff my boots were (and I thought I was just getting too weak and old to ski anymore), added a slick foot pad so my feet slid right into the boots and suggested a boot warmer which really saved the day. Thank you so much for making the difference for us. read more

Great service from Jordan and Sako. I recently bought some new ski boots from another store in the Bay Area that were causing a lot of pain in the big toe area of both boots. They diagnosed the situation quickly and went through multiple iterations with the boots until the situation was remedied. They were patient throughout the entire process until the problem was resolved. We also discovered that a heated boot bag is worth buying from Sako so your boots are warm and easy to put on before you ski. This is a game changer when trying to put your boots on in the cold before you ski. Jordan even tracked us down after we left one item in the store. You should check these guys out if you need a new pair of ski boots, need an adjustment on existing ski boots or need any ski gear. read more

When your feet are hurting from your ski boots, you're looking for relief. I needed to look no further than BestFit Boots which not only expertly addressed the issue but did so affordably, honestly, and very pleasantly. No upselling of custom Italian leather, no doing more than needed -- in fact, actively discouraging expensive solutions -- just solving the problem with an easy boot punch. As a result, I would look to this shop any time. Someone who takes pain away in a knowledgeable, friendly, and affordable way -- it just doesn't get any better. read more

I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to be a woman with small feet. For DECADES I have skied in boots that are too big because it was impossible to find boots my size. I skied for the last 16 years in a pair of Salomon boys boots that finally gave out. I bought custom-fitted boots for the first time in 1999, they forced me to use shells that were way too big, assuring me that the padding would make my feet fit correctly. That was total BS. Even today, most of the custom-fit shops I've visited still try to force me into boot shells that are too big because they don't stock boots in my size. So, finding BestFit was like a dream. Sako understands small feet: he used shells that were my size, and the newest foam technology to mold them to my feet snugly, so now I finally have boots that fit the way they should, and are actually comfortable. If you have small or weird-shaped feet, definitely come here and ask for Sako. read more

There is no better place in the Truckee Tahoe area to get fitted and buy your boots. Sako and his crew are extremely knowledgeable and enjoy sending people out the door with the right boot. I have difficult ski boot feet so my boots have always taken work to fit properly, these guys have done an awesome job fitting me for the last few years and I can't thank them enough. I look forward to many more years and many more boots with this crew. read more

Sako and Cian are sorcerers of bootfitting. They custom ordered the right boot for me, and after some heat shaping and modification, they fit like... well, a sock. Plus, they are super easy going and friendly to work with. Thanks guys. read more

There are some really good bootfitters in Truckee. Sako is definitely one of them. But what I liked most about them was their demeanor. Every person who works there is friendly, approachable and patient. When you work with these guys, you feel total confidence in the advice you're getting and that they will definitely take care of you over the years. Will never buy boots anywhere else again. FWIW, I'm an advanced/expert skier, purchased alpine boots with a 130 flex. Have worked with a few bootfitters before; Sako is the best I've worked with so far. read more

I have crazy wide feet with pointy ankle bones, and before today I had never found a boot setup that was tolerable for a day of skiing. That changed today. A huge amount of personal attention, and great experience got me a pair of boots that fits like a dream for the first time ever! And yes, I've bought from a professional boot-fitter before. Do call ahead as you may need an appointment. I worked with Sako. read more

Jason is the boot whisperer! He expertly guided me into a new pair of boots. I skied on them the next day and not only were they comfortable, but the fit allowed me to ski a hundred times better than in my old boots. I am a total fan of of Jason and BestFit Boots. read more

Fantastic! I have a pair of Dalbello boots are about 5 years old. The shells are still good but the bladders...espcially the tongues, were starting to really bother my shin. In the ski world, this is known as "shin bang". Well, it was getting to be quite uncomfortable, so I called Sako and made an appointment. I was lucky to get in that afternoon. Sako was able to affix neoprene pads to the liners and shaped them to fit the tongues. I tried them out today on the hill. It was like having a new pair of boots! Wow! From now on, I will only deal with BestFit Boots for all of my ski boot needs. I am a big fan of this shop! read more

Best Fit is THE place to purchase alpine and back country boots. Sako is extremely knowledgeable and will get you the right boots for your sport and ability. The boot purchase comes with customizing the fit, which means , in my case, expanding the toe box . Sako has also customized the fit on my classic and skate ski boots. You will be very satisfied with your purchase and/or customized boot fit. Eva in Truckee read more

My wife and I went here today on the recommendation of a friend. Socco and Jason were awesome! Socco is a great listener and made the slightest adjustments to the fit and the boots feel and look great. Jason is also one of the most knowledgeable ski pros in North Lake Tahoe. Sako is the man! He truly believes in making his customers feel comfortable in their ski boots. I have been considering moving back to downhill gear from Tele-gear for several years but have hesitated as I was afraid of how a downhill boot would fit my small foot and "athletic" calf. Sako found the perfect boot for me and with only a few tweaks, I am enjoying being on downhill gear again. Thank you, Sako, for your expertise and excellent customer service!! Need great fitting ski boots? Go see Sako at Best Fit Boots (Village side at Sugar Bowl). read more

This is THE place to go if you are looking for new ski boots. I am a brand new skier and went to BestFit for my first pair of boots. After my first lesson at Northstar, the only thing on my body that wasn't sore was my feet! The fit of my boots is spot on. Plan to spend at least two hours when getting fit. These guys take their time to guarantee that your boots are the right ones for you. Yes, new boots are pricey but you must invest in the custom footbeds that they make for you on site. I am so happy I found BestFit. Thank you Saco and crew!! I love my boots. read more

Learned a lot about proper boot fit and they really took the time out of their day to explain all the ins and outs of choosing the right boot for my level and where I want to progress to. Had a great experience here recently. I came here after going trying to go to another boot shop that didn't even acknowledge me when I came in the door. At Best Fit, I came in and was greeted immediately and asked how they could help. After a short wait, Cian spent over an hour trying different boots for me. He worked hard to find a boot that could have the performance I was looking for for alpine skiing while also still being workable for touring. He showed a lot of care in making sure I would get a boot that fit my performance needs without causing pain or discomfort. I felt like he would have sooner sent me to another store and lost a sale than send me home with a boot that did not work for me. I decided I needed to think on it and come back before making a purchase, but this is definitely where I will be bringing my business. Would recommend this place to a family member or friend. read more

Getting a good fit on a ski boots is not easy, but Best Fit Boots can make it happen. It took me a couple return visits , but Sako always welcomed me back until I was satisfied. This is THE place for getting an expert fitting! read more

Sako is a boot-fitting maestro. I always thought it was the skis that made me a better or worse skier, but now I realize it's the boots that really count. My feet have never been happier, and I'm skiing as well as I did in my youth (but my husband, also with new Sako-fitted boots, is looking even better). Sako really takes the time to make sure that boots fit; he'll persuade you to get the custom footbeds he makes but you'll be glad you did. He stands behind his products, too - he'll continue to work with you after the sale to make sure that your feet are comfortable. Not only did he get me into the best boots I've ever had, he was able to work with my daughter's quickly growing feet so that she also has happy feet! read more

My wife has been looking for boots for awhile and we decided to go to a boot fitter for her hard to fit feet. Sako is amazing and got her setup with boots that fit her well. I have owned at least 12 pair of ski boots in my lifetime and I always had problems with the fit. It was not until I met the master boot fitter, Sako. This great man sold me the best fitting ski boots of my life and my skiing has improved tenfold. Before Sako, my feet would hurt all the time and I felt like I was "swimming" in my boots. With my new boots and custom foot beds (made in house by Sako), I have noticed significant improvement in my control, comfort and performance He has the knowledge and expertise in ski boots that few possess. read more

I have wide feet, and ski boots and skates always meant one thing: pain. I even tried boots from Surefoot, which were insanely expensive and the custom liner fell apart after 15 or so ski days. Sako at Best Fit Boots fixed all of that with expert advice shaped around finally getting me a great fit without breaking the bank. The custom liner he made for me is incredibly comfortable, and I no longer start each ski day with 3 Advil. Hugely recommended to anyone with boot problems or needing help with fit. read more

I'm on older guy whose had plenty of boots fitted in my lifetime. I'm an aggressive all mountain skier who did a bit of racing when I was younger. I know a good boot fitter when I work with one. My last set of boots were purchased from Olympic Boot Works at Squaw Valley. When I decided it was time for new boots I was referred to Sako at BestFit by several locals. Sako is by far the best fitter I've ever had. I wondered why I hadn't heard of him before. Well, turns out he was one of the original fitters at Start Haus and played a significant role in Start Haus developing the reputation for boot fitting they currently have. He left and started his own shop. I have always had issues with fitting. It always seems to take several trips to get them right. Sako resolved an issue I always have during boot fitting that requires me to keep coming back when "ski a few days and let the liner pack out"doesn't work. He resolved it during the FIRST fitting. I don't think I'll need to be back for further adjustments. They feel that good. In every boot I've ever purchased I always have pressure on the second buckle area. Every other fitter focused on that pressure area. Sako analyzed my foot and realized it was caused by a bone in my foot being squeezed against the lower shell. It caused the foot to stand higher (I'm flat footed) and created pressure on the top of my foot in the buckle area. Every other fitter I ever worked with focused on the buckle area of the pressure and it took several trips to the slopes and back to the shop to get the pressure point fixed; and it was never perfect. Sako was the first and only fitter to understand my foot and that the pressure was caused by something lower in the boot. By punching the boot low at the base of the foot my foot rested naturally and the pressure on top of my foot at the buckle is gone. HE IS REALLY GOOD. I highly recommend Sako. read more

Allow me to preface with I have some really farmer feet, wide as they are long. Makes for a difficult boot fitting. My girlfriend and I were ready to upgrade our boots and with the cost involved did a tremendous amount of research beforehand. The information I found all directed me to boot fitters in truckee/Tahoe as being the best in the country considering there proximity to world class mountains. The first shop we went to was great and fitted my gf right up but couldn't accommodate my awkward foot and recommended I see Sako at BestFit. I am glad they did. Sako fitted me right away and educated me quite a bit along the way on proper boot fit, usage, storage and maintenance. Seeing I was anxious to get in the mountain Sako was very conscious about getting me there as soon as possible. After a day on the slopes I needed a quick adjustment and Sako was happy to assist. Very happy with the decision to come to his shop and look forward to many years with my new boots. read more

I tried on boots with Sako several months ago but I was not ready to "pull the trigger". I went back with the intension to get the boots this past week-end. I thought I was a size 24.4 but Sako was adamant that I needed the smaller size. He did not have the smaller size due to late in the season. I was contemplating buying the larger size when Sako slipped away into the back. He came back and told me that he "found my boot". He called around town to find me what I needed rather than making the sale himself. Thank you very much for going above and beyond to get me into what you felt was the right boot. You were right too about the size. My feet did not hurt even in the first two days of skiing new boots. read more
