I recently came for a ski boot fitting after seeing many promising reviews and I was not disappointed. I walked in mid-day on a weekday so it wasn't super busy. I waited about 15 minutes before meeting Doug for a boot fitting. He measured my foot, looked at its structure, and pulled out a few boots to try. The first was tight (as it was a size down) and when we went up in size it fit very well. Then he had me try several different models/brands and we settled on a pair of Salomon's. He heated the liner and had it heat molded to my foot. Through the entire process (which took about an hour), Doug shared stories, experience, and explained each step. He made me feel comfortable and confident in his skill. Once completed, I mentioned my bindings needed to be adjusted. I brought in my skis and they had my bindings readjusted in 15 minutes. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience here and will be coming back should I need any other gear. I paid full price for the boot, expected with the excellent fitting, and was told if I needed work on the boot I can return within a year. They are a knowledgeable group of people, kind, and have a wide selection. I can't recommend them enough. read more

Stopped here to rent skis for the season. Service was ok. It's a bunch of young high school or college kids serving. They do the job but not super friendly. They aren't rude just aren't friendly if that makes sense. The skis weren't the best but I did get them late in the season (mid December) so didn't expect top quality this late. Needed to rent skis for a ski trip up in Vermont. Very nice people, good service, but a long wait. If you are at this specific location on the weekend, you will have to wait at least 30 - 45 to get fitted for your skis. Despite that, the skis are a great cost for new and used. read more

I walked in this Ski Barn location and was very pleased at level customer service I received. The store was full stocked with all your ski and snowboarding needs. I was in the market for a snowboard bag since I wasn't able to find one at Dick's Sporting goods. The gentleman in the back where the bags were located was very informative and helped me as soon as he was completed with the previous customer before me. I really appreciate the amount of knowledge he knew about the certain bag I was looking for and trusted his judgement before purchasing. While on a ski trip to Canada, all of our ski apparel, equipment, and our kids rented skis were stolen. When I explained this to the manager Mike at Ski Barn, he took care of us and showed us real sympathy for the situation. We appreciated so much the way we were treated. First and foremost, the staff were super friendly and helpful. I have been on the hunt for new snowboard bindings for weeks. I finally ventured out of state, after calling around yesterday to find a shop who actually had some options in stock. I spoke with Kwak yesterday, and he was patient and helpful. He was even more awesome when I came in with my board and boots this morning. Again...very patient, very chill, and beyond helpful. The other ski guy mounted my new bindings and now I can't wait to take it for a ride. I recommend this place! They also do a booming rental biz if that is more your speed. read more

Terrible experience Which I tried to avoid by shopping online but I never setup new skies before so I had to go to a fitter. My fear of terrible service was realized when they asked did you get these here? I said no but they are new so I need them fitted and adjusted. Next thing they look at me and I don't know if all they see is a Puerto Rican male in front of them or a total idiot that doesn't understand business but either way I answer -Yes of course. They then tell me to put my name on a list that doesn't have any other names on it and make me wait 15 minutes to tell me they can't help me for another hour and a half and to come back next week (closer to Xmas! as if it'll be less busy.) So lesson learned I'll go get better customer service online elsewhere If your reading this I recommend you buy online too read more

I personally would recommend Pelican in Morris Plains over Ski Barn. I had bought my board, boots, and helmet at Ski Barn totaling about $1k and they still wanted to charge me to install my bindings. After coming home to attempt to install myself I noticed the board was damaged. Thankfully they did easily accept the board as a return. I went to Pelican to purchase the same board and they were extremely helpful, installed the bindings free of charge and even gave me a $25 gift card. The level of customer service at Pelican was far superior. When shopping for boots they had me try on 5+ boots where as at ski barn they gave me the option of 2 boots. The employees at Pelican seem to genuinely care and enjoy the process of educating their customers on what they are buying/preparing them to use their equipment properly. read more

We went shopping here with our grandson because of the great Yelp reviews and we are very glad we did. The store is huge so they have an incredible selection of skis, boots, clothes, etc. The staff were all very friendly but the best part of our time there was having Mike help us. He's been fitting skis since he was in high school so he's super knowledgeable. He's also excellent at assessing my grandson's feet and finding multiple boots that would be best for him. Really terrific experience here! Hats off to Rico who truly went the extra mile. He picked out GREAT ski boots right off the bat and then when mine felt loose on one foot, placed a shim, but then also went searching for a smaller boot of the same brand in their other storage area when none could be found in their regular storage. His supervisor (sorry I didn't catch his name) was also excellent and he gave seasoned advice to the customers and staff. Everyone seemed to be happy working there and helping customers. Service was prompt, professional, & friendly. They helped my husband and son also. We were quite assured the staff knew what they were talking about and so comforted that they seemed truly happy to help us find the right skis/fit. They even measured our feet which I can't recall other places doing as they would simply ask for our shoe sizes. Overall, best experience so far in terms of ski fitting/rentals. I was on my way to mt creek and remembered that I needed a new helmet so I stopped in and was met by great staff that really spent time to help me choose the best helmet for me and I ended up buying a new pair of boots too, which unfortunately hurt my feet so badly the following day on the slushy artificialness of Mt creek that I had to go back to my old pair, so the day wasn't a total loss...when I called the shop I was told that I wouldn't be allowed to return or exchange them, even though I just bought them the night before but after speaking to the manager he suggested bringing them back and they would try to mold them for me or something which was really upsetting and kind of ruined my day after spending so much time and money on the boots. In the end they exchanged them for me, I spent more money so good customer service always helps your business! read more

Doug at the Wayne Ski Barn was the most knowledgeable ski boot / ski consultant I have ever dealt with. He spent 1.5 hours with my daughter for a ski boot fitting, then matching it up with skis and bindings. Doug combines industry knowledge, technical knowledge and humor with many ski stories. We tried on 3 sets of boots and by the time we were done my daughter had the best set of boots she ever owned, the combination of the skis, boots and bindings were an exceptional buy, the bindings came as a package with the skis too. This is the 3rd set she has had, and this is by far the highest quality, Ski Barn has everything. After we finished, they put it all together and we walked out with a complete set, much better to go there before the season begins. Doug is an expert skier, so he can honestly assess and place the customer in the right skis for them, whether they are beginner or expert, Doug will do his best for the customer, I don't know anyone who has ever spent 1.5 hours on one customer, that's service !!! I was at this Ski Barn location a couple of months ago. A friend of mine took me to the store based on a ton of positive feedback she had received on it. As a new snowboarder, I needed a pair of shoes and bindings installed on my board. I must have tried on at least 6 pairs of shoes, which took close to 35-40 minutes, with trying on each pair, walking around in the shoes and making sure there weren't any pressure points. The staff was super patient and didn't stop till they were able to find me the perfect pair of snowboarding shoes. Adidas turned out to be the only brand that my feet felt comfortable in. Finally, went Snowboarding in Okemo last week. I had no complaints about my shoes or equipment. Kudos to Ski Barn! read more

I have been skiing for over 50 years. About 12 years ago I took a fall from a ladder causing a compound fracture to my ankle. After my recovery I resumed skiing, however I was having tremendous difficulty because I could not get a ski boot to fit my ankle which had been deformed by the injury. I finally found Greg who presently works out of the Ski Barn located on route 23. He took the time to examine my foot and to alter and fit me with a boot that allowed me to continue to ski with out being in pain. I have been using Greg and referring friends from my ski club to him for over 10 years. All of us are extremely satisfied with the service that he provides. read more

After having been to the Paramus location and renting ill-fitting ski boots, I came to the Wayne location and Mike (I wish I knew his last name!) did a full assessment and made a MUCH better recommendation for ski boots. He was so friendly and helpful, and also offered to heat mold my boots for an even better fit. I am so grateful! A female associate (I didn't get a first name for her, unfortunately) also helped me find a pair of ski pants that fit exactly what I was looking for. My snowboard crew decided to embark on an impromptu snowboard trip the day of a big snowstorm a few weeks ago. We didn't want to pay for full price lift tickets so we headed Ski barn for a last minute deal. The traffic was super slow due to the snowfall. The trip normally takes 10 minutes and it took over an hour. Jen and Rob were awesome and went above and beyond to ensure we had the best service possible. Their insight and assistance really made the night for a bunch of people that had driven in some horrible traffic. The next day, we drove up to Hunter. Paid with the discount lift tickets super fast. I could feel the jealous stare of full-fare customers burning in my general direction. The weather was clear and the air was crisp. The mountain was covered with layers of powdery goodness and we had an amazing time. The trip was epic but it would've been less epic without Ski Barn's help. Thanks again Jen and Rob! read more

I just had a great experience at the Wayne location! Within a minute of walking in, a staff member named Jen greeted me, ascertained my needs, and guided me to a rack of Obermeyer (my preference) jackets. I tried three jackets before deciding on the first jacket she pulled from the rack; then it was on to the pants. Jen quickly located three possibilities. I was in and out of the dressing room quickly with a great fitting pair. Gloves came next, and then a helmet. At this point, Jen deferred to a colleague with better helmet knowledge. Rob and I decided on a model that was on sale from $160.00 to $129.00. Back up front, Jen had the jacket, pants and gloves already rung up and bagged; another 2 minutes to add the helmet and pay and I was done! I was in and out in less than 30 minutes and had the good fortune to be tended to by cheerful and well-informed staff. I love Ski Barn! I've been miserable in my snowboard boots for years and decided to go there to see if a new boot would help. It turns out my boot was a 1/2 size too big and my heal was lifting. Jack helped me and he was so patient and knowledgable! We tried a couple of boots and magically found one that worked. He also kindly changed my settings on my snowboard. I had always had really sore calves and the tiny change made the calf pain go away. This season I'm much more comfortable and having a lot more fun boarding. My friend also went recently was given excellent service to buy bindings, boots and a helmet. Stopped by looking for ski boots (alpine touring) and they were out of 2011 models in my size and just had 2012 models. Prices were close to 400$! Ended up finding the same boots online shipped for 240$. I get pro deals from Black Diamond so managed to purchase bindings at nearly 40% off. Tried to have these mounted here and my boots molded but they were asking 100$ for the bindings and nearly 40$ for the molding. This is odd, because one of the workers previously said that molding is about 20$ if you dont purchase the ski shoes from them. Well, ended up going to REI and getting the bindings done for 50$ and the molding (for new shoes) done for free. read more

Staff is pleasant and tries to be helpful. However, I had a full tune done on demo skis that I just purchased and they damaged the top of the skis. Both skis had numerous pock marks on the top behind the heel of the binding. True they were not in perfect condition, hence the need for the tune. But, the top was in good shape before this. The service person said that he had seen this and it just happens sometimes when the ski is put through the stone grinder. I saw the device they put on the ski. It is true that it has rubber at both front and back where it contacts the ski. Something must be wrong. Perhaps the rubber is thin and screws are somewhat poking through. What I can't understand is why, even though they see this often they don't actually do something to protect the skis. Perhaps it is time for a new device that holds the ski. Perhaps they need to put a layer of something soft between the ski and the holder. Perhaps they just need to pretend to care about the skis they service. They did do a good job on the bottoms. I'm not yet sure if the edges are truly sharp. They feel like they might not be. Anyway, I would not let this shop put skis through that grinder ever again. I have no idea how to fix this. I think I will just have to live with the pock marks, which do feel sharp and may cut into my gloves, for the life of my new skis. Oh, one more thing. At least they did refund the cost of the tune. read more

Went here to get a snowboard rental for wifey. Service was great, went the extra mile to bring out some newer boards for her to consider. Did a good job showing her how to get setup in the boots etc. They were pushing to buy new for value, but were more than happy to oblige the rental. Price for the rental was good for the area. STAY AWAY unless you want a visit to the orthopedist. My wife has a low volume foot and Ski Barn fit her with a wide ski boot. While on vacation out west she had to surround the boot liner with padding to make the boots work. Also the binding for the skis that she rented from Ski Barn were set too big. There was a gap between the heel of the ski boot and the rear binding. A local Deer Valley shop said they don't know how she skied at all. Next stop to the orthopedist to address the pain in her knees... read more

75$ to mount a pair of skis!!!! I have personally mounted skis in about 10 minutes before and it is not worth 75$. Not to mention the one time I went to ski barn my binding ripped out of my ski. Do not go here. Then again if you do your must remember it is a New Jersey ski shop. You definitely do not get what you pay for with these guys. read more
