While they didn't have what I needed for this weird shaped/sized poster he's got, she did have some great suggestions and also offered custom framing as an option. We soon got down to business for the party, and the gentleman by the registers walked us up and down the aisles to get exactly what we needed, and even gave cost-saving options for some stuff. When it was time to check out, he set up my daughter's account and made sure she was getting all the available discounts. Blick is a great store that knows their stuff inside out, and sincerely wants to help with your arts and crafts needs!

I 'm in upstate NY and found this store on line by accident. GREAT customer service and follow up. My item was packed with care. Du-All carries quality drafting supplies and trust me, too many makers just don't make good stuff any more. I have a too many things that just won't "square." Spend once for a quality tool, then it will be with you for life. Du-All has fair pricing. You pay for what you get and maybe you pay a little less than a high falluting store that caters to a boutique crowd, but then you're also avoiding that "stuff" you get from the bigger places that just isn't what it should be.

BUT THEN I learned about Reynolds Advanced Materials! I first made the 2+ hour drive there to buy in-person. Not only did I get greeted and helped by a friendly staff member, but they also gave me a couple sample products to try out. They had everything I could ever need. Of course, I can't make that two hour drive whenever I need Smooth-on, so I order from RAM Detroit directly now, and they not only have FREE SHIPPING but apparently I live close enough to receive my purchases THE NEXT DAY via FedEx. There's a lot here if you're willing to dig through! There's a vintage area with tons of old, vintage papers, photographs, sheet music, postcards, photo albums, negatives, etc. Loads of scrap fabric and remnants, yarn, embroidery floss, notions, scrap paper, scrapbooking materials, stickers, stencils, even industrial supplies like foam scraps, and household materials like pill bottles (empty of course), lids, jars, storage containers, craft kits, old calendars, big bins of wine corks, pens, etc. They have a HUGE selection of old National Geographic issues, some going back as far as the 1930s. Perfect for collages or collecting. They also have a few machines like scales, microscopes, sewing machines, etc. As well as a few tools, wood and metal working items, just bits and bobs of tons of things to sort through. It changes all the time so stop in regularly to see what they get in! And the best part? It's all SO cheap and keeps all these things out of landfills (56K lbs just last year)! Upcycling FTW! Some things are in better condition than others but if you're the creative type you will be inspired by all you can find here. And since things are so affordable you can really take risks and noodle around without worrying about wasting your supplies. Want more inspo? Before you let nostalgia overtake you and cause you to drop $100+ on a replica or a vintage version shipped from some hipster in Minnesota, I urge you to stop in at Bob & Hazel's to take a look at their original molds... and be prepared to have your mind blown. Until stopping in at Bob & Hazel's, I wouldn't have had a clue where to go for ceramics supplies or classes. When I first walked in, I was blown away by the sheer volume of molds- row after row of cool vases, statues, and of course those cute little Christmas trees. They have ceramic slip in bulk, as well as boxed clay, tools, glazes, and everything you need to make your own ceramic art. The lady working there mentioned that they have ceramics and pottery classes available on Wednesdays, though it sounded like those weren't written in stone. Best to call ahead to see if anything is scheduled. The biggest shock to me was that they will do the firing for you, from their molds or your own custom pours. I think the main reason I've never taken steps to get into ceramics is because the investment cost of a kiln is immense. Take that away, and ceramics are a pretty darn affordable hobby/craft, and much more interesting than all the crocheting and knitting I see filling the craft shows around town. This place is a hugely hidden treasure in downtown Pontiac. Come early, and know that it's closed on Sunday.

By chance, I happened to see a flyer for the classes offered here and one for a folding book looked…read morereally interesting. Signed up with three friends for a cold and sunny Saturday and had a great time in class. The instructor Jackie (or Jacquie or Miss Jackie) was wonderful, kept the class on time, was educational, supportive. I had two books finished before I left. A quick wander through the store showed me that I had never seen a store with as many papers as ArtQuest has to offer. Sadly, I will be back.
