We have been twice recently and always have a blast. It's great for my 5yo but there are clearly kids of all ages having a blast. The staff is awesome - someone named Caitlin (spl?) was very kind helpful at concessions, the MC was engaging and fun, and the check in person was positive and professional. Will def go back.

    Gross.

Yeah, skate facilities are known to be a bit grimy and not the cleanest places... but this place goes beyond that. The bathrooms were beyond disgusting. They had zero soap and instead threw up some massive generic bottle of hand sanitizer. Of which, no kid would even use that (I witnessed first hand) probably due to the size and their inability to read and know what it's for ‍ I mean they are young kids that frequent places like this, make the conveniences easy for them to use... the toilet areas were dirty, unkept and clogged easily (witnessed again first hand) The kids leaving the bathrooms never washed their hands and went straight to the games... and I can pretty much guarantee those don't get cleaned either. If this place wants more customers... and survive as a business, I would highly recommend an overhaul on the bathrooms, and hire someone to be cleaning and maintaining the facilities and common areas at all times.

Not a city, per se - but very full of skates. Thursday and Sunday have adult nights in Arvada. Very worth the admission fee!

I'm disappointed in this place. Terribly managed now. Rude clientele. Skate elsewhere to avoid literal poop.

No enforcement of masks. Adults and children alike not wearing masks. Besides staff, there was probably 3 other people wearing masks.

I really appreciate how the rink is set up. The center is clearly marked off, which helps keep people practicing doing middle work from drifting into the main traffic flow. It makes the whole floor feel more organized and safer for everyone. The rink itself feels like it's on the larger side, so there's plenty of room to skate without feeling cramped. Adult nights are especially fun. They lean more into electro and dance music, which keeps the energy up. Pricing is reasonable, and I love seeing how they give back to the community. The last time I was there, they were collecting food donations for a local pantry, which says a lot about the kind of business they are. There's also a back room with video games and a smaller practice space that's separate from the main floor, which is a huge plus if you want to work on something. Around the rink, there's plenty of seating for breaks, with storage cubbies underneath, which is super convenient. Overall, it's a really solid rink with a great atmosphere and a strong sense of community. Definitely worth checking out, especially for adult night.

This was a fun little outing in downtown Denver, right off the 16th street mall. The string lights…read moreand decorations (which aren't super visible in my photo) make this a very cute rink. A group of six of us went on a Sunday afternoon, and it was crowded, but we didn't have to wait long to get our skates. The way it works is that the ice skating rink is free, but you have to pay to rent skates. If you own your own skates, then, the experience is completely free! To rent skates, you wait outside in front of a little booth and get a wrist and then go to the window next to that one and say which size you'd like. Despite the rink being crowded, the wait for skates was very short. Service was friendly and efficient. The skates weren't the highest quality, and they use ski boot like buckles rather than laces, but I can't complain given the convenience and price. The ice rink gets smoothed over/cleaned using a Zamboni every so often, and when that happens, you can stand by fire pit stands (I'm not sure what they're called?) or sit on the benches right outside the rink. We stayed for about an hour and a half to two hours and had a good time. This is a great activity for families and friends alike!

Yes, the building is older, but the prices are very affordable. Considering what you pay, I think it offers good value. I actually found the facility to be fairly clean, which was a pleasant surprise. My kids had a great time, and we will definitely be coming back. I really appreciate that the owners have kept this place open for so many years so that new generations can enjoy it as well. One note for management: two of the three skee ball machines were not working during our visit. It would be great to see all three lanes operating, since only one was available.

I hate that it's come to this because I adore the staff & skating at Skate City used to be the highlight of my week. Many of the regular, experienced adult skaters who used to come every week no longer attend. They supported the rink consistently, understood rink etiquette, & helped make adult nights enjoyable. I find myself wanting to go less & less too. My biggest concern is safety. There are too many inexperienced skaters skating recklessly beyond their ability, weaving dangerously close to others, cutting people off, & racing around the rink without enough control. People regularly stand on the rink floor socializing while everyone else has to skate around them. Staff rarely corrects this behavior or enforces basic rink etiquette. I honestly get the feeling that the employees are not allowed to intervene. What makes this especially frustrating is the disconnect between the waiver customers are required to sign, the safety rules posted in the entryway & what is actually allowed to happen on the rink floor. I understand roller skating has inherent risks & I accept those risks every time I put on my skates. Falling & accidental collisions happen. But signing a waiver does not mean safety no longer matters, and a waiver should not be treated as a substitute for enforcing reasonable safety rules. Skate City posts rules specifically prohibiting things like standing on the rink floor, roughhousing, chasing, horseplay & interfering with the flow of traffic. The rules also state that skating privileges can be suspended for violations. Yet customers walk past these rules on their way in & then many of those same behaviors are allowed to happen on the floor. So why aren't the rules being enforced? There is a big difference between accepting the inherent risks of roller skating & accepting an unnecessarily dangerous environment because people are repeatedly allowed to violate the rink's own posted safety rules. If customers are expected to sign a waiver & follow the rules, I think it is reasonable to expect Skate City to enforce those rules too. The music has also changed significantly. Much of what is played now is difficult to skate to unless all you want to do is race around the rink. I can use earbuds for my own music, but I can't use them to make an unsafe skating environment safe. Flow is another frustration. People pay extra for that dedicated floor time, but people who did not pay for Flow continue skating during it. Again, there is little or no enforcement. If customers pay extra for something, they should actually receive what they paid for. It feels like Skate City is changing adult nights to attract a much younger crowd, many of whom appear to be under 21. There is nothing wrong with attracting younger skaters or new customers. The problem is doing it at the expense of the established customers who have supported these nights for years. I question whether this makes sense as a long-term business strategy. The younger crowd Skate City seems to be targeting will have many more nightlife options once they turn 21, while loyal customers who have already demonstrated that they will return week after week are being driven away. You can already see it in the attendance. Adult nights are noticeably less busy, & many familiar, experienced skaters simply aren't coming anymore. Bringing in new customers should add to your existing customer base, not replace it. Once longtime customers find somewhere else to skate, there is no guarantee they will come back. I want Skate City to succeed. I want adult nights to be busy & fun again, & I want new people to discover skating & become regulars. But attracting a new crowd should not require sacrificing safety, rink etiquette, music, & the overall experience that kept existing customers coming back. The experience has noticeably declined. I hope the owners pay attention to the lower attendance & ask why so many longtime regulars are disappearing. Unless something changes, Skate City will continue losing the very people who helped make adult nights worth attending.
