Absolutely a wonderful experience dining at Skara.. I was beyond impressed, not just with the food, the customer service was outstanding, and the place is beautifully decorated. The layout is perfect plenty of seating and a full service bar, Rana our server she was exceptional, very pleasant very polite. extremely attentive, all her recommendations were great. The food was exactly the way we wanted it to be prepared and served, a delightful experience, I highly recommend for everyone to visit this establishment. You will have a great experience and will not regret it. They have a full wine list domestic, European and Greek wines and beers, the food was delicious. I tried the owners Costa grandmother's meatballs, they were tender crispy on the outside and it's tzatziki was phenomenal.. The avegolemono soup was one of the best I've ever had actual chunks of chicken they gave it a great taste,,thankfully I took Rana's advice for a special Greek Caesar salad with sardines was crisp fresh and very tasty, going to a Greek restaurant a must try is the grilled octopus. It was very good. Again the wagu keftedes (meatballs) a must try The homemade spanakopita was fresh and delicious. The Filo dough was nice and soft the way I like it. I loved the grilled halloumi (cheese) ..loukaniko was great just the right amount of orange, I was very impressed with the sheftalia (Cypriot delight) ..another one of Rana's recommendations the special of the evening, shrimp wrapped in shredded Philo dough was a crowd pleaser, lobster pasta was very good ,,, another staple to try when you're at the Greek restaurant, the grilled lamb chops, glad I ordered them. They were juicy and tender. Also fantastic was the grilled skirt steak.. Of all the desserts I loved the galatoboureko the best Just the right amount of honey, and you can taste the Farina baked in with just the right amount of cinnamon.. Went for a party of 6 Food- great Service- absolutely horrible. In full context the place is beautiful and the owner was great. Very attentive and friendly. As for the waiter- absolutely horrible. Attitude when we didn't order alcohol beverages Had to ask for new plates for salads Didn't ask if we needed anything (owner did) I could spend my time writing 10 things but not spending my time doing that. I hope the owner sees this review. Your waiters bad attitude has now led to a party of 6 talking negatively about your beautiful place instead of how nice you were. Needs better trained staff and with prices high, would not recommend spending your money in a place that you feel negative about. It's a shame. It was our first time trying Skara, and we were really excited because we love Mediterranean cuisine and live nearby. We ordered a variety of appetizers including hummus, baba ghanoush, honey baked feta, grilled octopus, dates wrapped in bacon, and the special salmon tartare. The grilled octopus was excellent--perfectly cooked with great flavor. The honey baked feta and dates wrapped in bacon were also very good and enjoyable. However, the hummus and baba ghanoush were quite disappointing, as both lacked flavor and didn't stand out at all. The salmon tartare was unfortunately the low point of the meal. It was overly oily, poorly presented, and not enjoyable to eat. Overall, the experience was mixed for a first visit: a few standout dishes, but several misses that made the meal feel inconsistent. read more

Cozy and welcoming, Skara is a great representation of grilled Greek delicacies. Both times I have visited for lunch, and both times I have enjoyed the octopus and the chips. Both are made to perfection and decently sized. The loukaniko is rich with flavor and grilled perfectly. Add a bottle of Assyrtiko and you're in for an excellent afternoon! We visited Skara Taverna during LI restaurant week in spring of 2026. The appearance of the restaurant was modern contemporary. It felt very welcoming and warm. For my three course meal I got the patzarosalta (beet salad), lavraki (sea bass) and the ekmek kataifi. The beet salad was a great start. It combined well with the pearled couscous and feta. The sea bass filet was seasoned well with a light lemon caper sauce to give a delicate flavor. Our dessert was I was expecting it to be more of a shredded dough than layered since I have known Kataifi to be as such. Although the appearance was not what I was expecting, I still enjoyed it. Skara Taverna is a beautiful family owned restaurant. We made reservations via open table for a Sunday brunch. Upon arrival we were greeted by the sweetest waitress who was so welcoming. We sat down and she gave us our menus. They have an amazing brunch deal for $27 which includes and entree, and a drink. We ordered the burger, the souvlaki sandwich and the avocado toast dish. All were very good and fresh. The burger had unique Greek flavors with hints of oregano, and other herbs. I really liked it but if you're into a traditional burger this isn't for you. A beautiful lunch experience on 3/21/26. Skara has authentic Greek food in a new atmosphere. I am a fan of appetizers when having Greek food so we ordered quite a few. They were all delicious. My favorite was the spicy feta dip. My favorite part, by far, was the bougatsa. Simply delicious, and this is coming from someone who goes to Greece every summer and hasn't had bougatsa this good since I was last there. It was so good, I had to complement the chef! Service was good as well. The service was attentive and fast the entire time. Highly recommended. Edited to add: you guys need to play Greek music for the full experience. It's a must! read more

I think this place is pretty new to the area. We came here for mother's day, all of us loved our dinner. A little slow but that's to be expected on a day like that. We decided to try a new Greek restaurant nearby our home. Parking isn't easy especially on the weekends. We were seated promptly. Service was friendly but not refined. Appetizer was the Skara Chips basically a knockoff of Kyma chips badly executed. Mains included Lamb chops and Branzino both adequately prepared. Desert was great ! Rice Pudding definitely recommended it. Price point was a bit high for the location but average for Roslyn. Lots of Greek restaurant in the area at various price points. I'm not sure the food and service level will be competitive with established competition. Hopefully they will find their niche and survive. read more

Nice atmosphere but absolutely worst tarama I ever had; least amount of fish roe possible! Yuck! Lemon potatoes soaked...drowning in oil. Tzatziki "dressing" for salads and on the side for meals was mayonnaise with a sprinkle of dill. No mention by waitress of the $9/bottle of water she kept pouring into our glasses, instead of asking if we wanted that instead of tap water. Overpriced lunch menu. I came here with the family this week they had live music and great food. The service was pretty good for the amount of people they had, the place was packed. My favorite was the pork and lamb chops. Tried this restaurant for the first time last night. The atmosphere is very nice. Nice decor. Friendly staff. The bread they served was very good. Just wish they had served olive oil with it. We shared the grilled octopus appetizer which was delicious. Prepared perfectly. We had the lamb chops which were DELICIOUS. I didn't care for the $17/glass Chardonnay they served, so I switched to a Pinot Grigio for my second glass. All in all it was very good and we'll go again. After reading a very positive review , I was compelled to try Skara. We were looking for a new Mediterranean style restaurant and Skara didn't disappoint! The place is beautifully designed and it has a very cozy feel. The Mediterranean vibe shines through in the decor. We started off with a cocktail that didn't skimp on the alcohol. It was perfect.... Next was the grilled octopus.... So tender and perfectly seasoned. Entrees were the Branzino , fresh , tender, and oh so delicious. The braised short ribs were tasty, delicious sauce and very tender.
