On Saturday, September 7, 2024, I came to this urgent care, the SJ Medical Clinic, with a suspected infection from a red skinned up knee and foot with developing pus. They do not accept credit or debit cards, so patients are required to pay $85 cash. My son-in-law went to a nearby ATM and then returned giving them $90. They claimed to have no change, but would instead give me a $5 credit to use on my next visit. So I essentially had to pay the extra money to get service. Oddly, after taking my cash they refused to give me a receipt until after I saw the doctor. The doctor looked at my wounds and said, he would prescribe a triple antibiotic cream and antibiotic pills. My daughter asked, "Should we squeeze out the pus?" The doctor said, "No." I instructed the nurse to which Walgreens Pharmacy to send my prescription. However, when I arrived there, my Pharmacist told me that the prescription had been sent to the wrong Walgreens. Also, I was told there was no prescription for antibiotic pills, only the cream medication. By this time it was already after 12 pm and this Urgent Care was now closed. I would now have to wait one more day to get the urgently needed antibiotic pills. The next morning, my son-in-law called this place when they were open, but no one answered the phone. So he left a voicemail asking to return his call. We waited for about an hour, but we didn't hear anything. So my daughter and son-in-law drove over to this urgent care place again. Upon arrival at urgent care, my daughter and son-in-law explained how the prescription was sent to the wrong pharmacy. The nurse remembered them and the incident, but she made no mention of receiving morning voicemail. My daughter asked why the prescription was sent to the wrong pharmacy and why the pill wasn't prescribed, but she didn't answer at all. After consulting with the doctor in a back room, the nurse agreed to correctly send the prescription to the correct pharmacy. A few moments later without making eye contact, she claimed that she changed the pharmacy and the pills would be ready to pick up in about an hour. When my daughter asked her if she now had the $5 change to refund, she quickly said they did not have any change, despite seeing the list of several paying customers already seen that morning. This is my story of going to urgent care on a Saturday to avoid the threat of amputation. My infection had spread to the bone, so this definitely qualified as an "urgent" medical need. Infections move fast, and the one day of delay they caused might have resulted in me losing a limb. What an unusual experience: always have no change, no explanation for what went wrong, and no apologies for anything. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to risk their health on an urgent "care" clinic that seems to be light on the "care" part. //

Poor care. Poor service. Poor follow through. Inconsistent info when calling for results. Poor medical practices. Patient is not a priority.

The staff is unfriendly, as well as unhelpful. Its also cash only, and they don't apparently enforce masks.

The girls that work here were highly unprofessional. If you don't have to come here, DON'T.

Absolutely the worst office staff as far as completing their job…read more I had been released from the Hospital and unfortunately I do not have Insurance and I pay as I go. Office visits are $105.00 cash. Not to long of a wait, was taken to a room for all preliminary stats. Dr enters we discuss what is needed and so forth for future care. We discussed that she would see me in 2 months and to continue my prescriptions. Go to the front desk, make an appointment for 2 months, got my orders for an X-ray. Waited till the following day, call the Pharmacy to find out they have no requests, try to call Dr office, no answer all afternoon, attempted to call next morning, still no answer and no orders at the pharmacy. Drive to the office " the pharmacy must have lost the request" following day get a portion of my prescriptions, back to the Dr office, resent again to pharmacy. Came up to needing refills, ordered thru pharmacy, multiple calls to Dr office, no answer. Drive again to the office "ok, I will let the meds team know" go the next day to Pharmacy missing 2 prescriptions. Call Dr office and someone actually answered, "you need to see the Dr before the prescription can be refilled". Why would you make a follow up appointment for 2 months and not refill the prescriptions?? Of course they have no answer, but to pay $105.00 or I can go to their Urgent Care for $85.00. I have since found another Dr that has office appointments for $75.00, very professional and helpful staff. Stay far away from Dr Koka

Just so retro and careless for their patients, it's unbelievable. I have filed 4 grievances about their awful service and nothing has changed. Their office is the same, as if you were in the 1908's. I called like 7 times last week asking to get an appointment with Dr. Koka and I never got a call back. I have no idea why this doctor and her staff are in service. They do a disservice really.

After I posted my original review, I received messages on Yelp about what happened. When I called…read morethe office to speak with Maryann -- the same person who was messaging me -- I was told by Rachel over the phone that Maryann refused to speak with me. Rachel claimed that my mom confronted a staff member and demanded to know if her forms were filled out, at her daughter's school,When I spoke to my mom, she explained that she calmly asked the woman if she worked at Dr. Ashraf's office, mentioned that some forms had not been filled out, told her to have a nice day, and even shook her hand. That does not reflect the aggressive behavior they are describing. I would also like to point out that it is highly unprofessional for a medical assistant to claim she was "confronted" by a patient when, in reality, she was spoken to politely. If my mom had actually confronted this woman the way they're claiming, wouldn't teachers or staff have stepped in to de-escalate the situation? And wouldn't others in the pickup line have heard or witnessed this supposed 'rude confrontation'? It doesn't make sense that something like that would happen publicly without anyone else noticing or intervening. Misrepresenting a simple, respectful interaction as something hostile is concerning and raises questions about honesty and accountability within the office. What is even more troubling is the inconsistency in their stories. Rachel said my mom was called into the office, while Maryann stated on Yelp that my mom showed up rude and was confrontational and going back and forth with staff. Those are two very different accounts. If she was called in, why portray it as though she stormed in angrily? Rather than showing empathy or taking accountability, the office chose to argue and present conflicting narratives. A simple, professional response acknowledging our experience would have gone much further. Unfortunately, this entire interaction has reinforced our concerns about their communication, professionalism, and integrity.
