I have been looking for a contractor to help us through a foundation issue. I spent 2 years calling companies, setting up meetings at the property. Those companies would not show up or return calls. Very frustrating . I saw a house being lifted and remolded on our street with SJ Hauck sign, so I gave them a call. They returned my call, set up a time to look at the property and followed through as you would expect a company to do. I purchased a home from SJ Hauck in the beginning of this year while I was living in another State. It was an older home which was purchased by the company and then moved to a vacant lot by the company. The company proceeded to rehabilitate the home. It was represented to me that after the rehab it would be like a new home. My error in this purchase was not having an independent home inspection done. I trusted the representations I was given. Aside from having numerous heating issues which required the person who put in the HVAC system to change out the size of a pipe that kept freezing which left me with no heat (2x)-when spring/summer arrived the air conditioning flooded down a wall in the dining area which the HVAC person again had to address, (it took him approximately 2 hours to fix) but I had to bear the cost of repairing the sheetrock and repainting. (After the HVAC incident, I had 2 independent HVAC company's look over the system-it will cost me approximately $5,100.00 to make the system right. Most recently I discovered there was no outside spigot at the back of the house. My son in law who is quite handy volunteered to add that for me. In that process he had to peel back the insulation in the crawl space, only to find that 2 floor joists were severely cracked, one actually folding and a 3rd joist was cut and left hanging to make room for a waste pipe, causing a 3/4" drop in my kitchen floor. This most likely would never have been found since the insulation covered up the damage. I gave notice to SJ Hauck via my attorney who had handled my settlement. I eventually heard from the Hauck people. They sent 2 laborers and I believe a plumber to fix the damage. No supervisor came and assessed the damage or came up with a plan of how to properly repair. The repair which was done is sub-par. The plumber and/or the laborer pulled down on a 3/4" water line to make room to fit the repair to a joist, which if left bent as it is will fail and flood the crawl space. This was reported to the Hauck people, only for them to say they have no intention of repairing someone else's work-meaning my son in law's work. My son in law is a perfectionist. When he added the line for the spigot, he removed electrical tape which the Hauck people had used to wrap a water line that was leaking, he properly fixed the connection so that it was no longer leaking. I would post pictures if this site had an option to post them. I have never given a review before. My purpose is to warn anyone who deals with this company to be aware of who and what you have contracted. This company was issued a CO for this home because they covered up the damage. I would recommend looking for a credible and trustworthy contractor who employees a standard of integrity and pride. read more

I am writing this review to let other subcontractors know that this company does not pay their subcontractors. I worked on 2 houses for them and submitted the invoices repeatedly to no avail. Do not use these people. They've been lifting my house for over a year. Ok. Contract signed Sept 2015. Started in January. 4 project managers, sub contractors... who knows how many, and my house is still not done. Now because it's getting cold out and everything is wide open, we have a mouse problem, a raccoon, and if it doesn't get done by FREEZE time I'm gonna have ahhell of a lot of busted pipes. I moved out aug of 2016 they did not start work until feb 2017.hoping to get my co this week.i went thru same 3 4 or 5 project mgrs as other person.i was told 3 to 5 mos to complete.i knew that was bs but doubled that and was hoping for 6 to 10.22 mos later getting C.O.nickel and dime you for everything.i was told to use their contractors so they could coordinate timing and job would go quicker.i knew i would pay a premium for their subcontractors,but it is rental property,and if i could get it done by summer i would recoup some of my money.that didnt happen.they wanted me to sign a document saying i was satisfied with project from start to finish before they would complete my job.i would not use this company again. read more

I am not an employee and I don't know anyone personally from SJ Hauck. They elevated my house. I am so glad that I hired them. I had a RREM grant. They started Labor Day weekend 2017 and I was back in my house by the beginning of March 2018. The lift included demolition of an existing 2 story deck and rebuilding it. I did not have any delays except for weather. I stopped by the house almost daily to get my mail. There was always someone working on something. Before we moved back in I wanted to get my floors refinished, but I needed my heat reconnected in the house to do the job. There was only one problem with one subcontractor for my plumbing, but the project manager and his assistant took my calls and met me at the jobsite well after hours on more than one occasion to try to fix things. The plumber was taking forever so Harold and Tom fired them and got me a new plumber that came out within a day to fix my heat. In addition to great work, if there was ever a problem or a mistake, they fixed it with no problem. One of the biggest assets is Dawn. I don't know what her position is but she worked tirelessly to get my grant paperwork in order. I never could have completed the paperwork if not for her. She maintained a good working relationship with my project managers from RREM and knew exactly what paperwork I needed each step of the way. All the workers from the lifters, carpenters, concrete, plumbing, electric, architect, engineering, managers and everyone else in between were so friendly, funny and accommodating. I would certainly recommend this company to anyone needing their house lifted. Just a heads up for anyone lifting a house. I have heard that many people experience delays because they use their own subcontractors and it takes a while to coordinate services. I used Hauck for everything and all went smoothly. read more
