I do not recommend SJ Fence LLC. Poor quality and difficult to get help with issues. Purchased an…read morealuminum fence to surround swim spa. The fence gate required a locking latch to meet pool standard in my community. The gate latch is poor quality, --the latch will not open, or it sticks closed (requires oiling monthly, as well as constant adjustment to the latch). Discussed this with Dan on several occasions by phone or text (since installation in 1/2025). He inspected the latch during a visit and said it would be replaced. In addition, the installers cut the sprinkler system line in two places (the cuts in the line are obvious). Dan was told about the existence of the sprinkler system at time of purchase (installation team reminded as well). Two attached photos show cut in line adjacent to concrete (by shovel?), as well as cut in line where line sits atop of corner of concrete (zoom in on the photo). When I brought the gate latch to Dan's attention by text and voicemail (again earlier this week), he said no one told him the gate latch wasn't replaced. He said someone would drop by and repair/replace the gate latch, and he would repair the sprinkler line. I'm not sure why he expected me to remind him again about the gate latch (how many conversations does it take to get it done?). I declined to have him fix the sprinkler line as I already did the job myself (hopefully it doesn't continue to leak), and I didn't want to get into another back and forth with him about completing the work (as I experienced since 1/2025 about the gate latch).

He was supposed to send me a written proposal. That was 3 weeks ago. Every time I call or text him he says I'll do it tonight but he's not done it." SEE BOTTOM FOR Ai Answer. MY REVIEW: TALK is cheap. Alan S was next-door giving my neighbor an estimate for a new fence. I asked him to look at mine, 35 years old, surrounding our 1 acre property. He gave a verbal estimate, which I accepted. $86 per post for sister posts again mine. He was supposed to send me a proposal that day and schedule me. He didn't. He insisted on coming back to look the remainder of the fence. I have over 500 feet of fence, but it was only a 100 foot section that we were dealing with. I didn't think he needed to come back. I wanted him to just schedule the job. He was a no-show on the first scheduled return. When he did return last Saturday 5/9/26 he changed the price 25% higher to $106/post. I'm CERTAIN of the $86 price he gave me. I even repeated it back to him "$86 total, lock stock and barrel? Including materials and labor, right?" He said "yes, with no Tax". We compromised in the middle. @ $96 because it wasn't worth arguing over $100 and I did not want to have to deal with another vendor. To make this long story shorter, even after the compromise, this week, I went back-and-forth with him six times. He kept promising the proposal each time, but never sent it. Yesterday he texted he can't do the job. Here's the Ai result: "Coombs Fencing LLC (operating via coombsfence.com) generally holds a strong, highly-rated public reputation in Southern New Jersey, but your experience points to a common "bottleneck" complaint regarding their administrative follow-up. * The "Ghosting" Pattern: Despite positive installation reviews, historical customer feedback on Yelp reveals -- --- patterns where clients noted: " they are "nice to sell you the fence" but can become difficult to reach or slow to follow up once initial contact drops. * The Small Business Bottleneck: The company relies heavily on an owner-led model overseen by Chris Coombs. When regional fence demand spikes in the spring, local estimators frequently fall behind on drafting written proposals while prioritizing active, paid job sites.
