This was my third time at SlizzlinGogi and I love the experience every time. It's all you can eat and you cook your meats and veggies on a grill in front of you. There are sides including a side of white rice, kimchi, pickled cucumbers, bean sprouts, salad, radish's, and pickled jalapeños. The staff will initially bring out three items and then bring out items as requested (based on what course you order) Favorite meats - chicken bulgogi, beef bulgogi & pork belly Service was good. They came to switch out the burner once it became charred The last time we came it was a Wednesday at 5pm with no wait. Camer here on a Friday night. Had a small wait but be prepared for a wait as it fills up quick on Fridays. By the time I left there was no parking available. Customer service was good. The manager was very transparent about the all you can eat for a party of 1 with a kid. Had to pay half of an adult price for adult but kids would have been free if I had brought my wife. Food was solid. It seems like the beef items and steak were really good. Pork items were solid but not quite as good. I loved the new York steak. They didn't limit quantity on that steak. I had a 12oz steak to myself. Speciality steak was great as well. Spicy pork bulgohi was pre made and you didn't have to cook it. Never had that before. It's one of my favorite dishes and found it to be solid but not my favorite like it usually is. Service was great and efficient. Servers were friendly. Outside smell so bad like sewage but inside was nice and dim. The wait is long but understandable. Once we were sitting down we waiting about 20 minutes to be ask for drinks and order (I assume it was maybe busy) we asked for the tier 1 and the waiter name Amanda ask which 3 dishes would you like I said the "bulgii, and the uhh" and she said "I'll get you the first 3 then you can make up your mind later" um that was a weird way to take the order but I just nodded and waited when the food came I ask her if they have any spicy mayo or Sriracha to dip it with she giggled and said "no spicy mayo is japenese" I know it isn't as deep of a statement but that's when I felt a little tripped out of. The patronizing tone of it and overall vibe of the waiter made dinner a bit uncomfortable. It didn't even end with that, like as I was saying, the food arrive the the table (1. Pork belly 2. Beef bulgogi 3. Beef brisket) usually the waiter leaves the food and the customer grabs which to cook first but the she grab the beef bulgogi first and threw it into the pan and some spilled onto the table she grab the clamps to throw it back into there and said "start with this one first". We finish with the beef's and started cooking the pork belly entirely (2 slices of the serving) . About 2-3 minutes past by cooking and the waiter comes to my table and grabs the pork belly that's cooking in the pan and cuts it in four stating "it cooks faster in slices okaayy". Such a weird experience at this restaurant. First place that doesn't have spicy mayo or any dips and gets condescending about it, chooses the meats for you and throws the meat in once it touches the sides of the table, and grabs your food midway through. It didn't end there after I asked if we could get the spicy pork bulgogi, we waited around 15-20 minutes for it and other waiter comes in asking if we ready to order anything else I said we put a order in for the spicy pork bulgogi a while ago and she says she'll go check on it, the waiter Amanda comes back after saying that meat cooks in the kitchen not in the pan if we still want it. I said uh yea that's fine but you could've told us that when we order it. She just smirked at me and went to place it 5-6 minutes past and the food arrives in this small rectangular foil container. It was mostly sauce on it but we ate it and then the waiter comes back leaving the check saying "no rush here's the check". We paid it, stacked up the plates and left. Honestly it was a very uncomfortable experience there. The one by San Luis Obispo name "Honey Belly" are much kinder people, great fresh food and have multiple dips you could choose from. Came in for lunch and ordered AYCE "all you can eat"on menu C (which is normally roughly $40, but during lunch is $36). Menu C consists of everything on menu A & B plus ribeye, shrimp, rib meat, and short ribs. Got there 20 min after opening and only needed to wait 5 min to be seated. Each table is set up with a grill, banchan (kimchi, sesame oil sprouts, cucumber kimchi, pickled radishes, and pickled jalapeños) , salad (cabbage based with a tangy dressing which was too bitter for my taste), seasonings (steak sauce, some sort of sambal/chili paste, and salt - which i add a little sesame oil to), and utensils (chopsticks, spoon, scissors, and tongs). I will always ask for sliced garlic, salt, pepper and sesame oil - to season the meats because only few meats are marinated and I enjoy grilling the garlic slices. I do prefer having lettuce to wrap the meats and banchan because the rice is pretty filling BUT charging $6 for lettuce? I would recommend the rib eye (seasoned with salt and pepper prior to grilling) marinated short rib, beef belly, brisket, shrimp (came seasoned), steamed egg. Service could have been better - felt as if they weren't very attentive since i needed to ask 3 times for sesame oil and that was 2 orders of meat in. Waitress also wasn't the friendliest - just felt as if ordering more or asking for something else was an inconvenience for her. As for decor it's just very grey - no actual pictures up on the walls. Pretty greasy - you can see it on the walls and light fixtures. There is an alcohol fridge in at the entrance with floor to ceiling wine and boxes of beer and soju on the floor. There is music playing which reminded me of playing DDR (dance dance revolution). They used to have outdoor seating during covid with cute patio lights but not right now - maybe they'll bring it back when its warmer? Overall - it is overpriced and the only KBBQ spot in the area and it might not hit the spot but you can get your fix. read more

My family and I went while they were in town visiting, this is always my favorite spot to eat as the food is absolutely delicious and I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. While the food here is generally acceptable, the customer service is absolutely appalling and in serious need of an overhaul. We called ahead at 8:05 PM to let them know we had a party of ten and would be driving 30 minutes to Santa Maria. The person on the phone confirmed they could seat us, no mention of any restrictions or deadlines. When we arrived around 8:40 PM, we were immediately met with attitude. The host passive-aggressively informed us we were "late" and claimed we said 8:30, which was never the case. Rather than welcoming a large party that made the effort to call in advance and travel a fair distance, we were met with rudeness and condescension. To make matters worse, after making us wait even longer, they abruptly told us we could only order from a limited set menu and would not be allowed to do the all-you-can-eat option again, something that was never mentioned during the call. The entire experience felt like we were being punished for showing up at all. Bottom line: if you value basic courtesy and competent service, look elsewhere. After an especially difficult day, my family went here for dinner. We were immediately greeted by the owner, and we noticed it was a very busy time. We waited for about 25 to 30 minutes before being seated. Honestly? this is the worst Korean barbecue place that I've ever been to, and that saying a lot because I've been to a lot in my lifetime already. Me and my husband traveled up here for our honeymoon from southern california and we were really excited to try this as it was highly rated. but the meat was old , disgusting, superchewy and tough and there was no flavor. i don't understand how they can serve people this meat, it's concerning! And the veggies you could tell were old . I honestly got full from eating the side vegetable dishes rather than the meat itself. And that's not including the servers.. they were so rude they didn't even give us our full change back stating that they round down and wouldn't be able to give us the rest of it?? makes no sense, that's our money. i've never heard that excuse before. all the servers there seemed to hate their job and take it out on the customers by not doing their job right and just being miserable. i wouldn't waste your money on this place and would probably recommend grabbing your own meat and grilling it at home. I've been going to Sizzlingogi for over 5 years, and the food is always absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, my experience yesterday was unlike any other I've had there, and it left me extremely disappointed. There were 9 of us in total, and from the moment we sat down, our server (I believe her name was Cassie) was extremely rude. A few examples: * When I tried to order a steamed egg and corn cheese (something I've always ordered at the same time as meats), she cut me off and said, "yes but I'm taking the meat order right now." Never once in all my visits have I been told I couldn't order food while literally placing an order. * One of my friends asked for another piece of fat for the grill because the meat was starting to stick. Her response: "You don't need another fat, it'll be fine." In the past, we've always been given a fresh piece after cooking a few meats, and I've never been outright denied such a basic request at any restaurant. * Our group ordered New York Steak, but she mistakenly gave it to the other side of the table. When they told her it was our order, she just said, "oh well it's on this plate," and left it at the other end of the table without making any effort to correct her mistake. * Finally, my friend (who is vegetarian) asked about the bean paste stew and casually mentioned she was vegetarian. Instead of simply answering the question, the server said, "uh if you can just let us know that at the beginning," with an unnecessary attitude. My friend explained she didn't care about cross-contamination, but by then we were all fed up. At first, we thought maybe she treated us this way because 18% gratuity is automatically included (which she did not deserve), but a friend of mine who knows another server there tried to switch us. We were told we couldn't, and that "this is just how she always is." As someone who works as a manager in customer service, I would never hire someone who treats customers this way. A good manager/employee ensures guests leave with a great experience so they want to come back. Cassie clearly needs serious training in professionalism, or to find a different job that doesn't involve working with people. I truly hope someone in management sees this and addresses it, because if it were one of my employees, I would absolutely want to know so I could coach them to be better. Sadly, because of this server's behavior, I don't see myself returning to Sizzlingogi anytime soon, even though I've always loved the food. read more

Overall this was a cool place to come and eat. I'd probably give it 3.5 stars if I could but closer to 4 than 3. The wait wasn't long but I think they were short staffed because I only saw 2-3 tables being used and still had a small wait. Staff was friendly but definitely looked a little flustered. Within 2 mins of sitting down they wanted the order, we asked for more time, we were asked on 2 different occasions within 3 minutes if we were ready so we definitely felt rushed. On the way out we felt rushed as well as we wanted dessert and they just brought the check before asking if we wanted anything else. This was probably my biggest critique. The food to price ratio is actually not bad, fairly priced considering the sides you get and good quality. I will say that getting all you can eat is probably a better deal overall. The brisket was thinly sliced and cooks quickly. Grab a couple pieces at a time to really get a good bite. Premium pork belly, imo, not worth it. It's thick, takes a decent while to cook and I think the regular would've been better. Beef belly was really good, super thinly sliced. Again, grab at least 2 pieces per bite to really get a good taste. Rib eye was a full, probably 10oz steak and good quality piece of meat. We had an issue where the cooktop was originally too hot and started smoking then they turned it too low and the pork belly wasn't cooking fast enough, they finally turned it up and it was fine. The salad was a little bland, not sure if you season that yourself as well but the cheese corn, tofu soup and steamed egg was really good. The sauces are great and everything fills you up. I wish they would give you something to clean off the top after each meat as residue gets stuck and can smoke plus flavor mixes with other meats. Definitely try this place for a different experience and get all you can eat, as long as you eat more than a small portion. read more

I was super excited to try this place out but understood I have high expectations of KBBQ spots as I just got back to the states from Korea. However, there are things I just can't explain or justify away like: First impressions pulling up, ok nice they have their own parking lot, sweet! We went early trying to miss the crowd. Walked in and the building is a bit dated but it's all good. I'll take sketchy with bomb food right? Well... The banchan was minimal and stale. It looked and tasted like it had been left out for days but again justifying I thought maybe ok small ish town maybe not a lot of traffic this early and mid week and it's all pickled right? I move on to try the sauces provided and it's some soy sauce mix reminded me of a poor rendition of finadini from island food, a red pepper sauce which was hot but flavor didn't mix well with the food ( again might be overly critical expecting Gochujang) and salt/pepper mix(only thing used for pork belly). I asked for Ssamjang and had to explain its soy bean paste(should have left here). Then the meat came. My family ordered the all you can eat set C. Again I was excited and wanted to try it all. I was craving Korean food. We ordered brisket(doubtful), "Premium pork belly" ( just a too thick cut piece of pork belly), regular pork belly(decent enough), rib meat fingers ( no clue wtf that was. It was long and chewy AF regardless of cook temp), ribeye (whole steak not sliced or anything) and marinated short ribs( good portion to share not take on alone at the end of the meal). We had to ask for different scissors three different times as they just would not cut the meat! We all tried. It became a game and there were no winners and the meat got completely butchered in the process. The final straw for me though was when cooking the ribeye, one of the waitresses said they had to add water to the grill as to not catch fire so I'm like aight we don't want that to happen please proceed but then instead of lifting the grill like she did to check initially she poured it thru the grate and on some of my steak. Ok ok let me just take those pieces to the side. No big deal right?! Wrong! I was eating the rest of the steak and there was a hair in it that I didn't see till it was already in my mouth. It literally flossed my teeth. Ok so it's my fault for not showing them the hair or even telling them but I was so damn disgusted. I just accepted the extra charge for not eating the rest of the steak and short ribs but yall I just couldn't do it! The waitresses were nice enough to me until I didn't finish the meat of course but not my wife ironically considering she's actually Korean. We had to wait a few minutes for the staff to prepare our table with settings and banchan. We ordered Course B (cheaper by $3 during lunch hours, $33.99 compared to $36.99). We ordered Beef Belly, Seasoned Premium Cut Beef, Beef Bulgogi, and Spicy Soft Tofu Stew. I saw the steaks at other tables but wasn't impressed with the marbling so I chose not to order. A cabbage salad was provided but I didn't care for it. I liked most of the banchan. For the meat, nothing of the three we picked stood out. If I had to choose, it would probably be the beef belly especially when cooked crispy. Service was efficient but not friendly.
