Pad Thai was bland, tasteless, and very oily. Person working the counter did not seem happy to be working there.

Atmosphere, environment plays such an important role in shaping how the taste buds respond, and almost equally important is presentation, for the same reasons. But because I was merely warding off the dull, ruthless jabs of an empty belly, and not trying to make an impression as to my culinary sophistication on a new date, my attention to the otherwise more vital aesthetics were placed on the shelf, directing this review more at the food than anything else. I ordered the Mas sa man, a coconut curry chicken dish, cooked with sliced potatoes and accompanied by the ever-present side of rice. It was good, but lacked the "POW" that I crave in Thai food. The heat was spot-on, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the consistency of the sauce was what you might expect it to be in heaven. The only thing lacking in the gravy was the lime/salt tang, leaving the flavor void of real character, but good nonetheless. Authenticity was unquestionable. The evidence? All three ladies, each possessing barely half mastery of the English language, were the only ones running the place. Having questions answered intelligibly is not to be expected. This only makes a Thai restaurant more appealing to me. I'd go back, but I would first make certain that there is not another Thai place in town that would rival this one, meaning there would be more than just a bar or a two-top bistro table to sit at. read more

If you know good Thai food you will be very disappointed. If you don't mind your spaghetti sauce from a can and your pizza previously frozen you will be fine with this place. It's tiny so either come with a small group or order takeout. I had the takeout but my big mistake was eating Thai over in Telluride at Siam, a place that has a justified 4.5 stars so I got a taste of the good stuff before this dreck. I ordered the Pad Thai, stir fried vegetables and two of the soups. All of it was forgettable, bland and uninspired. I'm not giving it one star because I was in college once and this is a college town where canned spaghetti sauce, frozen pizza and Sizzling Siam all go in the same diet. read more

I really hate writing overly critical reviews so will try to keep this short and sweetish. Took a few family members to try this spot out thinking we could get some good Thai food while away from home near Thai Town in LA. Ordered 4 dishes to share and I must say all 4 were very bland and flavorless. Our pad see ew looked exactly like our pad thai except it had carrots and broccoli in it and all the meat was very dry. I have been very happy to see more Asian style restaurants popping up in the area, hopefully this spot and can take the reviews to heart and reinvent some of their recipes and give the good town folk of Durango some legit Thai food. read more

Terrible customer service. One dish was prepared too spicy for my sister's seasoned palette. She was in obvious physical pain from a sip, but the cashier only offered another soda. Any other restaurant would've offered to remake but not this place. There are other great places in town. Listen to this review and the others, go elsewhere. read more

We wanted to like this hole in the wall, but... Four of us had dinner here, ordering 4 different dishes. The summer rolls were dried out from sitting around all day, we suppose, as they indicated they make them up in the morning, not made to order. The 3 different entrees were all either meh, or just not good at all. We would have been a lot better off eating PB&Js. Better and much less expensive. Also, there's no wifi, and no restrooms. This place was terrible. First of all the young lady serving the front counter was extremely rude. When we asked for some soy sauce she insisted that the seasoning sauce they did have tasted "just like soy sauce" even when it did not. It seemed like every request we did have was a bother to her. I noticed that all of the locals ordered the food to go and did not bother wasting any time for the awful customer service in the restaurant. The food was bad too. We ordered a curry soup and some pad thai noodles. The soup was so hot that even Californians like us could not handle the mouth burning stomach singing heat of the generous chili oil in the broth. The pad thai noodles were chalk full of preservatives and began to release a foul odor within moments of ordering them. Save your money or go somewhere else. read more

I lived in Thailand for almost a year. This food is spot on, delicious, and inexpensive. It is the closest thing to authentic Thai food in Durango by far. All these yuppies complaining can shove it - go travel the world and get an appreciation for what other culture's foods taste like and quit being so sheltered in your wonderfl durango restaurants. read more

I've been to Thailand. I've read the poor reviews on this place. They're wrong. Yes it's small, no you wouldn't necessarily eat here, but yes the food is good. I ate here multiple times during my staying Durango and there was a reason why. Their red curry with chicken was awesome! Bright with veggies and brimming with flavor. I went with medium spice because you never know if they're going to blow you away at hot or not do it enough with the mild. I've had great service when I ate there. The locals definitely call in and take it to go. It was never slow when I was there. To the reviews that complained about the flavor, sometimes you can't be too "authentic" to take into account the population, however that being said, I was always pleased with the flavor of my dish. If I could give a zero out of 5 I would. Very disappointing I was all psyched to have green curry chicken. I have tasted a lot of green curry in the 25 yrs when I discover Thai. This is the worst. Very salty as I believe that added salt not fish sauce the flavor of the curry was not anything close. It is the first time I threw half of the dinner in the trash. Egg rolls were not much better. If I could give this place no stars I would. The food was so bland! So I ordered the pad see ew and they gave me what looks like spaghetti noodles and a plate full of stale vegetables, had no flavor at all no seared taste from the wok, I don't even think they had a wok the only thing that had flavor was the coke I ordered. My family has dined here 3 times in the last year. We receive excellent and welcoming service every time. The food has been so flavorful with quality ingredients every time. We've tried the Tom Yum, pad Thai, red curry, egg rolls, and a few other items. Our daughter said this food compares with the food she enjoyed in Thailand made by locals. The girls working the front of the store are friendly and know how to work a busy crowd. Super impressed with the particular way the gal handled tonight's constant to-go and dine in crowd. I am new to Durango, co and was told about this place by a couple of my colleagues. They all raved about it, but I honestly can't see what all the fuss is about we ordered the tom yum , which was not yummy at all. Followed by the pad see EWWW! My friend and I ordered take out last night that turned out to be very very bad! A simple order just pad thai and vegetarian green curry that I wanted spiced medium. My friend whom I just talked to today said that the pad thai was so awful she had to throw it away it had no flavor other than sweet sugary yucky gooey conglomeration. My vegetarian green curry only had two vegetables in it broccoli and some zucchini. No mushrooms no eggplant no onion no Ginger no cilantro. I love spicy food but this was five-alarm hot and there was no fish sauce in it so it was just hot with no salty flavor no lime and no richness that I am used to with a beautiful green curry. We both live out of town so when we found out that both of us we're unhappy I called the manager today and told him what happened. He said that that is the way they serve their green curry, with a medium spice and I told him there were no vegetables in it other than the zucchini and broccoli he said that was impossible. I told him about the pad thai and he said that also was not possible he knew the chef and he always put out excellent food. I told him we would like our money back and he told me that if we would have called yesterday evening we could have discussed it but today he couldn't do anything about it. I strongly suggest that if you have to eat there make sure that what you get is edible. And call sooner than later to let the manager know that once again there's bad food coming out of sizzling Siam. read more

Absolutely the worst. After hiking all day, was starving for some Thai take out. Ordered my standard chicken pad Thai. Inedible. First bite - what?! Second bite - sickly sweet. Wait a while. Third bite - something is really off, a bad taste. Could not take another bite. Threw it away and went to brush my teeth. I am way disappointed and thinking I should have ordered green curry, like my friend did. Except I find out this morning that her food was bad too! I hesitate to give any Durango business a bad rating, but after seeing all the other one star ratings and experiences similar to mine, it doesn't seem like my food was a fluke. It looks like they need some kind of continuity in their food, the ratings are mostly one star or five star. Either great food or terrible food. Cool, funky atmosphere, mediocre food. We've dined at a lot of Thai restaurants, and honestly, this place is at the bottom of the heap. We ordered Phad See Ew, and Masaman Curry - and neither one was good. The food was bland, and lacked flavor. We asked for both dishes to be medium spiciness, and neither one was spicy at all. The curry in particular seemed to be lacking some crucial element, but I'm not sure what it was. The Phad See Ew was just salty and bland- lacking the smoky brown sauce and thick noodles I'm used to. On the plus side, the people were super nice, the restaurant looks cool, and is in a good location. I think they need to step up their game on the food though. read more

This is a small restaurant which works on a lot of TO-Go orders although there is some place to sit too. After eating Thai at Houston and Austin, this place was disappointing. The food was bland and even my basil noodle (which I thought could never go wrong) was boring. I had to use all the hot sauce, vinegar, salt and pepper seasoning I could find. The young customer service lacking mouth at the front counter ruins the whole vibe. Frankly, she may be the rudest cashier in Durango. Today we got to hear her yelling while on a personal phone call, while there were other customers in line too. Once she literally told me how crazy I was for ordering spicy, which works for me at every restaurant under the sun EXCEPT Siams, they peppered my food so much that with every bite I took in a teaspoon of heat. Was this done to prove the two sassy cashiers right? Who knows but it ruined my meal and since I choked every last bite down with vigor, it ruined my stomach for the night too. The portions are big, but don't dare ask for a to go container. We did just after spending close to $30 and was told "they can't just be handing these things out." It's so bad that I'm not the first to comment- seems as others have had to deal with the insolent girls too. So please, get some new staff, even if she as worked there for ever, as she is doing your business no good. And hang in there Durango, the word is there might be a new Thai cafe rolling to town soon, and hey- they are super friendly too! read more

If you have ever eaten real Thai food, in a city or in Thailand itself, you will be disappointed in this food. The noodle dishes are horrendous- the noodles are overcooked and glommed together, and the sauces lack all of the sweet/sour/spicy/salty balance that you should look for in good Thai food. The curries also lack depth and balance. In short, a real disappointment. Thai food should be fresh, vivid, and have many flavors in every dish. That is not achieved here at all. The only thing close to worth ordering is the Tom Kha Gai. For people who claim this is authentic Thai food, I'm wondering where in the hell they ate in Thailand... read more

I really enjoy the Pad Thai here, I can't really speak much for the other meals. What gives it a 3? The fact that every single time I've ordered out I've received a bag of my food with soy sauce puddled on the bottom. I absolutely love this place's pad thai! I will admit that some days it is better than others, but it's never disappointing. The other thing I love about this place it the soup nazi vibe it has to it. While the service is never over the top friendly, nobody is there for the service, they are there for the food. I usually order mine to go because the servings are big enough for two meals and for that reason, I think it's reasonably priced. Also, don't forget your order of egg rolls.
