I have enjoyed Sizzle for many years and love the food. It's one of the few places I go where I actually enjoy noodles and veggies without needing meat (they have meat if that's your thing, of course). I was a little puzzled when I read through the other reviews. I've personally never seen the owner be rude to the employees, but he is definitely a visible part of the experience - he's an involved owner, and is always keeping things running in one way or another. He does have a matter-of-fact, direct approach; and somewhat reminds me of the way chefs interact with each other in a kitchen. I have seen him be stern a time or two. It wouldn't surprise me if he worked in a kitchen at some point. Sizzle has been super consistent in quality and experience for over a decade, and my opinion is that the owner's involvement is a huge part of that consistency. My personal experience is a solid five stars based on that. read more

We used to go here a at least a couple times a month, for special occasions, and we'd bring friends visiting from out of town. I had bariatric surgery though so I could only eat a small portion. They used to do AYCE prior to covid but then they changed it to only 1 time through the line but you could take home leftovers. I called ahead to ask whether they would allow me to do the children's meal due to my surgery and he said it was fine so we went. The first time we went and I reminded him that that we had spoken and it was fine. A month or so later we went back though and he made a comment about me using a child's bowl. I reminded him about my situation and he then said that I need to show him my "card"proving that I am a bariatric patient. I told him I'd never heard of such a thing and he said other people have them and I would need to get one in the future. *Side note, I have since looked into it and is not a thing. My surgeon's office said they'd never heard of it (Sutter Hospital). I actually found some on Amazon for $7, but you do not have to provide any proof, so ‍. It reminds me of the vests people buy for their fake service dogs. He then continued to comment on how full my bowl was for a child's portion. Like everyone else (adults and children) I had filled my bowl so I could take leftovers but there were people who had loaded their bowls at least twice as high as the edge of the bowl. It was actually quite impressive, the engineering that went into it! . Anyway, mine was definitely heaping, but again, a smaller bowl. He commented several more times about how much food I had so we offered to just get another adult bowl and pay the adult price. He refused that, but continued to mutter about it. When he brought our cooked bowls to us he made the comment that they had to transfer my food to an adult bowl because it wouldn't fit in the original child's bowl. This was an absolute lie as the food fit fine before it was cooked and would have cooked down and taken up less room after. We've found other Mongolian bbq places we like just as much and have not been back! read more

Since I moved to Sacramento I have been looking for a good Mongolian BBQ place. We tried a few and really couldn't find one with good service, fresh food, and clean environment. Sizzle hit on all 3. There was several choices and everything was fresh. I really enjoyed the amount of sauces they have to add flavor to your meal. They also have some yummy additions they bring to your table including the Egg Drop soup which was very good too. The only thing that is stopping this from being a 5 there was a line to get in and one line to wait to cook your meal. That's not a bad thing because I see why so many people go, but it did take at least 30 min to eat after sitting. If this was my lunch break I would of not been able to eat here. read more

The wait to get in, we determined, was a blessing in disguise. It wasn't so long that we were upset but long enough to make us truly appreciate every step of the process. Following COVID protocol carefully, masks are required as you set your bowl up, there is a restaurant associate helping everyone with clean utensils for each step of the food bar. They also help you mix up your sauces with suggestions for different tastes. The noodles were of high quality. The vegetables were fresh and well presented. The help was friendly and efficient. I love the sizzle of fresh meat and veggies cooking, and I especially love mongolian BBQ. Its the perfect way to create your own combination of fresh meat, veggies, sauces, noodles, and viola, a meal is born. Id been craving mongolian BBQ, and was near Sizzle, and thought lets try it. The four of us walked in, and the line to stand in to create your bowl of goodness, is right at the door. Jumping immediately into line, we had choices of four meats, turkey, chicken, lamb, and pork. The thinly sliced meats looked like they had freezer burn, but I opted to blame the lighting. There was a fair amount of veggies, but far less than what I am accustomed to seeing at similar places. There were two types of noodles, and we all picked the thicker ones, over the thin chow mein noodles. The choices of sauces were very limited, and it was a challenge to figure out what to do. The sauce totally makes the dish, and not having many choices, was leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I dumped in what I could, and hoped for the best. When you get to the end of the cooking table, the hostess will seat you, and the owner (who is just naturally funny) offers a choice of egg drop soup, or something that sounded extra spicy. We all chose egg drop, and we were surprised that rice, wontons and egg rolls had been placed on the table for us. The wontons and egg rolls were bland, and truly not worth eating. The wontons tasted greasy, and flavorless. The dipping sauce was thick and gelatinous, and just unappealing. It was easy to overlook the table offerings, because I was there for the BBQ! The first bite was tasteless... I quickly swirled the food around, in hopes of finding flavor. One of the things about mongolian BBQ if you've never been before, is that the fun in all of it, is trying to fit as much food into the bowl. Shove it in, push it down, add more, and repeat. I tried eating my food, and I just couldn't get there. The noodles were meh, the meat tasted like freezer burnt meat, and with all of the sauces that I added, they must have been thinned out, because they didnt make a huge difference either. Everyone else at the table had the same experience, despite all of us making different types of bowls. Lunch is one bowl and youre done, while dinner is all you can eat. They graciously bring your bill at the end of your meal, and they are happy to refill water or soda glasses. If you have leftovers in your bowl, they will even allow you to take your food home. Where do I start? You walking to a buffet style line filled with ingredients to create your own bowl. I chose not to overload my bowl and was immediately confronted by the Owner who was concerned I wasn't going to get my moneys worth. He throughly explained what the lunch would consist of, and took our drink, rice and soup orders. No pen, no paper, this man did not miss a thing. As he yelled at us passionately, we continue our journey. This place has the feel of a pay before you eat kinda joint, but I was pleasantly surprised to find, you pay after you eat. Our group of 4 sat down and we were served an exceptional meal consisting of our bowls, sides of rice, soup, and egg rolls, with some of the loudest, most aggressive, best customer service I've ever had. Honestly, this is the best customer service i've had going out to a restaurant in a long time. The staff were all hospitable as well as genuinely generous in the portions of the food we can add to the bowl. The food itself was PHENOMENAL and soooo good! My mom and I went today and we asked if the spring rolls had pork and the staff member told us no they don't and they also offered to completely clean the griddle that they cook the food on! Great Mongolian BBQ with great choice of meats, including lamb. They are very meticulous about cleanliness. The staff wear masks and gloves and they get new clean tongs for customers as they move through the line for the selections to go into the bowl. They ask if anybody have food allergies or sensitivity to spicy food and have no problem cleaning the grill. Their sauces include house, teriyaki, wine, chili, kungpao, wine, and ginger. The food includes your choice of steamed rice and fried rice, both of which are good. You have a choice of eggflower or spicy soup. The spicy soup is delicious. They also include eggrolls and wontons with sweet and sour sauce. The BBQ is expertly done (and I have been to a lot of Mongolian BBQ. We will definitely go here again. read more

Post Covid, we got there at 4:30 (as they open for dinner) there was a line out the door, It took them 15 minutes to serve the first people in line and it took them at least 5 minutes to switch out the tongs EVERY TIME, FOR EVERY PERSON. Over $15 for dinner per person, NO LONGER all you can eat AND the bowls are smaller! We were in disbelief after standing there for 25 minutes seeing this play out before our eyes, They literally served maybe 4 people in 25 minutes, we walked out. Honestly very disappointed by this experience. Not really sure why this place has such high ratings as I have gone to less expensive and more honest places than this place. I really don't want to give them a bad review, but I was very disappointed after my meal. I had called ahead of time before I came here to scout out and see if they were doing AYCE Mongolian BBQ during this time of COVID. The person I spoke to told me that it was AYCE up until there is a lot of people that shows up. Not really sure how that works out since it would be unfair to everyone if a portion of people who show up before a lot of people would get AYCE and anyone after would not get AYCE. Either way, I had asked their price of dinner and it is $15.95. Quite pricey, but I was under the assumption that at the time I come, it would be AYCE at that price. I arrive there and there was not that many people so I line up and get my food. Took awhile for someone to come over to give us tongs and explain to us what to do since now we all cannot be using the same tongs to get the food. The place to get sauce, there were only 3 spoons and none in the other sauces, so I was not able to get some sauces. The lady told us we can just use the spoons from the other sauces to mix together. Not sure if that is a good idea, but some people might be allergic or not like those sauces. The line was getting long and people were stacked up in line and was not social distancing which is kind of a concern, so I'm not sure how they will fix that problem. The soup was not very good. The "wonton", I thought was a cheesy wonton, but it turned out to just be a crunchy wrap. The fried rice looked very burnt and did not taste very good either. The food in general is pretty much the same at every Mongolian BBQ place. The only differences I would say is the sauce and the quality of the meat and produce. All of it was fine and the overall taste of the food was fine other than the fried rice, soup, and wonton. Back to the thing I was talking about earlier in regards to the pricing and AYCE. By the time I was done eating my bowl, I was under the impression that it would be AYCE and my boyfriend decided to line up for another one. He then came back and told me that the it is $15.95/bowl. He went up to ask the waitress and she told him, "There is a lot of people in line and due to COVID, we don't do AYCE." So, basically the person I spoke to the phone with did not give me the correct information. For not AYCE, please decrease the price. $15.95/bowl for dinner not AYCE is not worth it. I paid $40 to eat 2 regular size bowls of Mongolian BBQ and 2 sodas. I ended up walking out paying so much for not AYCE and not even full. My boyfriend used to love coming here for AYCE Mongolian BBQ, but he said he was so upset by what happened. I am beyond disappointed and won't be coming back here to eat. Post Run-Rocklin meal...it was a perfect selection. Like most Mongolian BBQs, process is the same. Select the meat(s), noodles, veggies and sauces. What impressed me was they had 3 simple offerings of sauces and # of scoops of each. I've been to many other Mongolian bbq and folks just start pouring...at the end, they didn't like what they made. Well DAMN.... After giving my bowl of ingredients to cook on the flattop, I added my garlic chili paste to top of my meal. Over did it a bit, but it as delicious. This is the first place I've been to which offered fried rice vs. white rice and egg drop vs. hot n sour soup. Nice touch. As we were eating our meal was noticing the folks who STACKED their bowls HIGH. How they were able to keep everything from falling over is beyond me. I had dinner with friends last night at Sizzle Mongolian BBQ. We arrived around 5:30 and the place was packed. This is the type of food where you build your own bowl. The line was a little long and the pace was slow. The speed was negatively impacted by the fact that you must stand and wait at the end of the line while you food is cooked ... and everyone behind you waits as well. It would have been nice to have the food brought to your table. The vegetable offerings were fresh and plentiful. Great variety. There were two different kinds of noodles and four meats (chicken, beef, lamb and pork). My bowl contained a little of everything (and, a lot of some). Great options as far as sauces. Our meals automatically included soup, rice, fried won tons and spring rolls. Everything was tasty and very filling. read more
