Hawaiian BBQ

A very nice quiet location surrounded by multiple visits. Parking can be a struggle but once your in you will be happy. I was overwhelmed by how much food they give which I can see why the prices is a bit higher than I normally pay. Its also a small family business and the staff are so patient and kind letting you figure out what to order. Lots of different options on the menu. I will definitely be back to enjoy.

Pick 2 Plate

Pretty good Hawaiian spot in Roseville. We came here on a Friday night around 6pm. There were people eating at a table, people waiting for food, and several people in line in front of us. We ordered at the walk up and took a seat. The service to get the food was pretty slow. We did have to wait for a little bit for our food to come out to us. We ordered the Loco Moco with beef patties and the pick 2 plate with teriyaki chicken and katsu chicken. I liked my Loco Moco. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was flavorful. The gravy was really good and my over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. The Mac salad had a weird texture. Sort of stringy or something. My husband liked his teriyaki and katsu chicken. There were a few different types of sauces in bottles at the table, which was a nice touch. I do wish that since we ordered to eat there that the food didn't come in plastic to go containers and with plastic utensils. It was also on the pricey side. There was plenty of seating. And the lady who took our order was very friendly. We may be back.

Menu full of appetizing options [Roseville CA] I was so hungry then this caught my eye when leaving the Walmart|Sam's Club parking area. I was told they've been around for some 7 months in July 2025. Made a U-turn to check it out. Immediately greeted upon entering. This is a counter service restaurant. The menu included a mixture of Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese, and Chinese influences. I wanted to try everything but I decided on the lemon pepper wings and spam musubi. The dining area was spacious and tables were really spaced from each other. The wings were tasty and full of that lemon pepper flavor. The spam musubi wasn't stingy on the sauce and they came wrapped individually. I can't wait to return for the Loco Moco or the Kalbi short ribs! Review #4002

Came with the mister for a weekday lunch. When you enter, the order counter is immediately in front of you with large, clear menu screens. We received a friendly, welcoming greeting. We easily placed our order with the very nice lady. The restaurant is clean, spacious, & bright with tables & some bar seating. Island music plays in the background. The chairs are metal & loud against the cement floor, so best to lift them to move. Fountain drinks are self-serve, but refrigerated beverages are also available to purchase. Napkins, utensils, & hot oil were self-accessible. Each table had squeeze bottles of soy, sweet & sour, teriyaki, & katsu sauces. Our orders were brought to the table hot in to-go containers. We got two 2-item plates-- BBQ Beef--Flavorfully marinated, tender, some fatty edges BBQ Chicken--lightly flavored, soft, & juicy Kalua Pork--smoky, moist Katsu Chicken--nice crispy exterior Mac Salad--mayo heavy Rice--perfectly fine The plates come with cabbage, but it was nice to find we got a few pieces of carrot & a broccoli as well. They were just barely cooked & still crunchy bites of veg. We had friendly service, a satisfying meal, & a big portion of food for a reasonable price. We'd definitely come back.

We got the family meal and shared it between the three of us. Two adult and a toddler. Chicken Katsu: 5/5 BBQ Chicken: 4/5 Short Ribs: 4/5 6 scoop of rice and 6 scoops of mac salad We got left overs for the next day! Service was great and food came out at a good time. The restruant was clean. Will come back! Enjoyed everything.

10/10! We love Sam'l Hawaiian BBQ! We have been 3x and its delicious every time! The consistency is on point. The wings are perfectly crispy, flavored and not fatty! We had the lemon pepper and prob the best one I've had! We also REALLY enjoy the Kalbi ribs. It's a must each time!! The spam masubis and lumpia are delicious too!! Thank you for outstanding food and service.

First time at Sam'L Hawaiiam BBQ and they did not disappoint. They have generous portions of meat. The katsu and fish are crispy outside, juicy inside. Bbq beef and kalua pork are savory and delicious. They also have sauces - teriyaki, katsu and sweet & sour - which I really liked because they're not too sweet. Clean and fast service. We'll definitely come back.

We got to Sam L Hawaiian BBQ on Sunday morning around 10:55 and there was already a small line of people waiting, which was a good sign. They opened the doors a little early and started taking orders right away. The process was quick and smooth, and we found a table easily. Plenty of seating and the place was super clean, which you'd expect right after opening, but still nice to see. The staff was really friendly and welcoming, everyone had big smiles which made for a good first impression. I ordered the loco moco and my wife got the pick two with chicken katsu and galbi. The food came out fast, probably under 10 minutes, and the portions were huge. My loco moco had two big patties with lots of gravy. I asked for my eggs over medium but they came out over hard. Need that runny egg! The meat was pretty good, a little on the drier side, but the gravy was fire. The macaroni salad that came with it was solid, not amazing. It also came with 2 big scoops of rice and some veggies. The chicken katsu ended up being my favorite part -- big pieces of chicken, good crispy texture, really well done. The galbi had good flavor and wasn't too chewy, which can be hit or miss at some spots. My wife also had leftovers because of the generous portions. Overall, it was a good experience. Roseville needs a good Hawaiian spot and this might be it. We'll definitely be back to try more.

Bbq plate with katsu, bbq beef, and bbq chicken. Tons of food!

Tried this restaurant for the first time last week and I was very impressed! My new favorite place for Hawaiian bbq. The musubi was so flavorful! Getting that every time for sure. Also tried the lumpia which was average, and then I ordered the bbq plate. It came with chicken katsu, bbq chicken, and bbq beef. The katsu is so crispy and the bbq beef was very yummy! I love the sauce that comes on it. The Mac salad is a little boring and bland in my opinion. I'll probably just do rice next time. I ordered takeout so can't speak on the service or ambiance.

Great Kalbi Short Ribs! We used to pass this place when it was Roll-Em-Up Taquitos, on our way to Khan Mongolian BBQ a few doors down. TBH, couldn't figure out why someone would go to a restaurant to get taquitos. Then a few weeks ago, we noticed a sign for Sam'l. We didn't even realize the taquito place had closed lol. Pleasant, family-run business. Owner Sam runs it with his daughter, Mary. Huge menu. I got the bbq chicken and kalbi short ribs. Husband got the seafood and bbq chicken. We also tried their pork lumpia, spam musubi and potstickers. Lumpia was good, especially with their sweet and sour sauce. Not impressed with the potstickers. Tasted some of their ice creams (banana chocolate chip and mango calamansi) which weren't too bad. Reasonably priced at $5.50 each. I'd say their best dish is the kalbi short ribs. It was pretty amazing. The bbq chicken wasn't too bad either. They charge $1 extra if you opt for 2 mac, 1 rice like I usually do at L&L or Ono. Not worth it since the mac salad was kinda bland in my opinion. Rice wasn't very good either. Took quite a while to receive order. Would advise to call in the order if you don't have time to wait. Would go back for more kalbi short ribs and maybe husband to try one of their moco loco plates. Prices are reasonable, especially for Roseville. Many tables inside for dine-in also. Neat place!

Food tasted really good. Prices are good! Service was fast. Restaurant was nice. Besides the decent prices the food was all surprisingly good. 5 stars Bbq Chicken Mini plate. Chicken was tender and had good flavor. Hard to see but had some veggies like carrots, broccoli, and cabbage underneath the chicken. Mac salad was good. 5 stars Spam Musubi. Tasted pretty good. $6.49 for 2 not bad. Menu didn't specify how many pieces you get, but they both tasted good. 5 stars Pork Lumpia. Tasted good. Plenty of pork filling. 5 stars 6 Buffalo chicken wings. Good taste. Nice size wings. Not a bad price considering how much other restaurants are charging.

First time coming here. We ordered online for a pickup. The order was ready when I got there. I got the grilled chicken, chicken katsu, and the bbq beef. Also, got double Mac instead of rice. Reasonable prices and delicious meats. There were pieces of carrots, a giant piece or broccoli, and a nice bed of shredded cabbage under the meat. Definitely will be back when craving Hawaiian bbq.

Our server, Todd, was fantastic. He was attentive, friendly, and provided great service throughout the meal. For our food, I ordered the chimichurri top sirloin without the chimichurri. My husband and one of my sons ordered the smoked chicken with beef ribs, my younger son had the buttermilk fried chicken kids meal, and we also ordered the chicken nachos as an appetizer. Unfortunately, none of us really enjoyed our food that day. Afterward, I received a survey about our visit and gave honest feedback about the experience. The assistant general manager, Dennis, reached out to me personally, was incredibly apologetic, and offered us a generous gift card because he genuinely hoped we would come back and give Lucille's another chance. I really appreciated the way he handled it. He listened to the feedback, took it seriously, and made a real effort to make things right. We decided to give Lucille's another try, this time ordering takeout online, and the experience was completely different. When we arrived to pick up our order, the employee helping us actually took everything out of the bag and compared each item against the receipt to make sure nothing was missing. I really appreciated that extra attention to detail. There is nothing worse than getting all the way home with takeout only to realize something was forgotten. I decided to order the chimichurri top sirloin again, but this time I kept the chimichurri on it. What a difference. The steak was cooked to rare perfection--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes were savory and delicious. The coleslaw was also very good, although I personally would have liked it just a little creamier. My husband ordered the Southern fried chicken with gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, along with a side Caesar salad. My older son ordered the brisket Smokey Joe, and my younger son had the buttermilk fried chicken kids meal. They also gave us a bag of five biscuits with apple cinnamon butter, which was such a nice touch. This time, everyone genuinely enjoyed their food. Maybe our first visit was simply an off day, or maybe we just didn't order the dishes that were the best fit for us. Either way, I'm really glad Dennis encouraged us to give Lucille's another chance because our second experience completely changed our impression. Between the way we were accommodated when we arrived, Todd's great service, Dennis taking our feedback seriously, the care taken with our takeout order, and how much better the food was the second time around, we will definitely be back.

Stopped by Buckhorn for the first time for Father's Day lunch. Great joint for pretty good BBQ!…read more Buckhorn is an order at the counter and get a number type place. The line was long when we came in, but moved quickly. The bigger problem is that there aren't nearly enough tables for how many folks were dining in. We did end up finding a table on their patio- which is always a win for our family. For about $70, we got two kids' meals (one slider and one chicken tenders), a shareables order of the tri-tip tacos (that my wife ate as her entree), and a two-protein platter with the pulled pork and tri-tip. They asked how we wanted our tri-tip cooked, and we answered medium, but all of the tri-tip came out well done. The flavors of everything were good, though, and the portions are substantial. The kids' meals are a great value. The two-protein platter was enough for two meals if you wanted it to be. The tacos were filled generously and were very tasty. I enjoyed the coleslaw- though I read some others find it bland. I did not think that at all. I really enjoyed the selection of sauces available at Buckhorn. They have a pump-your-own-sauce station with several types of BBQ sauce, horseradish sauce, ketchup, and spicy ranch. Yum! My favorite was the mustard-based BBQ sauce. Overall, I would totally return to Buckhorn. I could probably lean 4 stars here, but I think it's a better spot for BBQ than many others in my area and in the Roseville area that I've tried. The structure: This neighborhood little sports bar is great! They have fun games for everyone…read moreincluding kids, lots of TVs and a big bar area. The FOOD: Not great at all...hardly even good. I don't think I have ever been to an establishment where everything that we ordered was pretty bad. We ordered chicken wings... half of the order was barbecue the other half was parmesan and herb. They were dry and the flavor was lacking in both. I also ordered their fried pickles. I didn't know it was possible to mess those up until the basket of yummy, flavorful pickles came and were completely wet and soggy with breading coming off of it. What a disappointment. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich with their cheesy potatoes. The waitress described it as like a fully loaded potato. That sounds yummy, only it wasn't. It was presented as partially mashed potatoes with chunks in it and the cheesy flavor was almost like the flavor from a packet of mac and cheese sauce. The sandwich was a flavorless tasting shredded barbecue. We asked for barbecue sauce to put on the sandwich and it tasted like somebody put vinegar and sugar in that sauce. I ordered the chopped BBQ sourdough bread sandwich and there's no way that was sourdough that I was eating but instead tasted like bread that was toasted. That was probably the best thing I ate was just the bread because the meat was as I described before no flavor and very disappointing. I also ordered fries and thought at least I can eat these but I was wrong. Even their frozen fries were lacking in flavor. We also both ordered iced tea and asked for yes, artificial sweetener and we were informed that they don't carry any. Just regular sugar. That was a first for me! Never ever been to any restaurant or eating establishment that didn't carry a variety of sugar for people who drink iced tea. It's unfortunate that everything my husband and I ordered was really bad. It almost was comical except that we paid $80 for that inedible food. The Service: Our server, Ana was awesome!! She was the only one taking care of everybody and she did it flawlessly. When we asked for extra sauce, she delivered it quickly. She was good about checking on all the customers even though there were only 4 of us in total. A family of 5 left 10 minutes after we arrived and 2 people sat at the bar 15 minutes after we ordered. She had a great attitude and smiled a lot. She said she was new to the job but her actions made it look as though she were a veteran. OVERALL: The service was great and the establishment itself is a great neighborhood sports bar hang out but the food was really really bad. It wouldn't have been a terrible thing if just one or maybe two items we ordered weren't that great but the fact that every single thing including the tea was bad, is the reason that we will not visit this place again. By the way, it took me a couple of weeks to write this, because I aim to see the good in everything. I do not like to receive negativity or give it. It was difficult to be that honest especially when other people in the reviews really liked the food. Good for them! I do hope that this place will have enough customers to stay open for a long time. I wish them the best of luck.

We saw the smoker in the front of the building. I do luv me some good ole BBQ. So off we went. We ordered a double down plate $26: two 7oz protein choices with cole slaw on brioche and an 8 oz side choice. Brisket and pulled pork were our protein choices with and potato salad. We bought another side, macaroni salad. We requested that the pulled pork be placed on the side and additional sauce. I dislike being that customer with persnickety preferences. But we were, and they didn't blink an eye. Super accommodating. The pulled pork had a deep smoky flavor. Tender shredded pieces. Mmm. The sauce was served on the side. That too was delicious. Hubs had the brisket and wolfed that down before I could swipe a piece. Darn. The potato salad was tasty. Slightly tangy, which I really liked. The place is family owned and operated. It's a sports bar and family friendly bbq joint. Giving off family friendly vibes. But hey, a bar and family friendly? Yes. They both co-exist harmoniously. Talking about sports. The TVs of course are tuned onto sports. All of the screens are strategically placed throughout. They even have framed signed football jerseys from USC Trojans, Denver Broncos, and 49ers to name a few. Pretty neat.

What made my experience overwhelmingly positive was (who I believe to be) the manager Celine, who went above and beyond to consistently make sure our grill was changed and if we needed any help. This was even during rush hour when it was super busy, yet Celine was extremely active and checking on all the tables. I don't think I've ever had such an exceptional experience, for someone to go above and beyond like this is mindblowing, as not only is it extremely rare but unexpected too. We drove nearly 3 hours for this but just this experience alone makes me certain I will revisit again. Thank you once again Celine, it was truly an honor meeting you and having been served by an individual as kindhearted like you!

They've made a few changes since the last time I was here. They now have kiosks for ordering, and there's a 10-minute wait between each order. Luckily, our server was nice enough to let us place an order through him instead. We received everything we ordered except for the cheese corn, but we were already full, so it was okay. Our food came out quickly, and of course, everything was delicious as usual. The only thing we were missing was our sauce. Unfortunately, this location was waiting for the pineapple sauce to be delivered from their Arden location. It ended up arriving after we had already finished eating, so we didn't get a chance to enjoy it with our food. Overall, the food was still delicious, and we had a good experience despite not having our sauce lol.
