Have been coming here for a little over 5 years and have always had amazing experiences. Before today we hadn't visited Sizzle in a few months because of The pandemic but we decided to give it a try. The drive is 40 minutes one way and worth every minute. The service was excellent, but what left us amazed was how ready the employees were. They assisted from providing clean tongs per family, to wiping down the seats and table before and after each use. The employees were wearing masks and gloves & the seating was all spaced out with 6ft in between. Warning to VEGETARIANs. The sauces are almost all made with chicken broth. I believe the soy sauce and chili oil were the only vegetarian options. The soups are also made with chicken broth. This is more like 3.5 stars. My family really used to like this place. The service is great and the food is nice and fresh. However what was previously a five star rating has to go down a couple due to the price. They've raised their prices up to $16 for dinner. I call it "PUSH DOWN"... It's a Buffet full of different kinds of meats, vegetables, noodles and sauces. You grab a bowl, fill it with your choices of thinly frozen sliced chicken, beef, pork, or lamb, noodles vegetables, and sauces. It hard to fit everything in one bowl so you have to get another bowl and place it on top of your bowl that your trying to cram everything in and PUSH DOWN and PUSH DOWN so you can add more to your bowl...your only allowed one bowl during lunch and all you can eat during dinner only. It's usually very crowded with a long wait line because they only have one mongolian grill. If going for dinner Its difficult to get in line again for seconds...so Highly recommend that you go one time, Fill up your Bowl and PUSH DOWN. When you get to the end of all the food items, they have several different sauces that you can choose from to add to yummy up your stir fry before you hand your bowl over to the person that grills it. When your seated the waitress brings over eggs rolls, egg flower soup or hot and sour soup, fried rice, plain white rice and fried won ton skins. On the suggestion of one of my kid's friend, we came here for lunch. The place seemed decent. The set up was pretty straightforward. Choose your meat...noodles??..then veggies...then sauces...the food is then cooked for you. The process was fast and it tasted pretty good. I come here about once a week for lunch since I work close by. Before 1130 and after 1230 are the least busiest. For the amount of food they give you it is definitely worth paying $12.xx for lunch! Not only do you get your bbq bowl you also get your choice of hot and sour or egg drop soup, fried rice or steam rice, eggrolls and deep fried wontons. I usually never finish my food and take it to go. The service is also very good. If you can't eat spicy they will clean the service before cooking yours. Let's start with the important part: Come early before the rush since the line can get really backed up! You know why? Well because this is by far the best Mongolian grill in the general area of Sacramento. Perhaps these are a thing of the past and that is why the majority of Mogo grills are either shut down, run down,or just plain dirty. Then you come to Sizzle Mongolian Grill and it is new, clean, up kept, and the staff is awesome. Everything in the line for preparing your food is cold and fresh. You can even see the frost on the walls of the cooling pans. If things start getting low on stock someone will quickly run over and fill it back up if you just so much as look at them. When you get to the sauces there are some basic recipes so you know how to base your sauce. Go wild and experiment!! The grill staff does their best to keep dishes separated especially when there is for example someone with spicy food with someone who doesn't like spice. I actually watched them clean the grill when a vegetarian was in line and they cooked her food alone. If there is a back up of bowls waiting to cook the owner tells you to go sit down and when your food is cooked he personally brings you your food with a smile. All of this for $9.99 all you can eat for dinner and lunch was a few bucks cheaper but I'm not sure if it was all you can eat. The ONLY thing I wish this place would have would be an option to get some nicer ingredients at dinner. I've been to a few of these places that have veggie bowls for roughly $7 the beef/chicken/pork/lamb bowl for $10 and the same previous meats + shrimp/crab/calamari for $14. The usually just differentiated what to charge you by what color bowl you used which was predetermined by what protein you wanted. 5-21-2020 My Son, his girlfriend and I went here as the dine-in is now open and it was absolutely impeccable food & service. They actually gave all new groups of people fresh clean prongs to fill our bowls (2 ea) and I believe the owner or head manager was making sure we had everything at all times needed for our dining experience. All the workers were very professional and at no time did we feel they were not concerned about the Covid situation. The food was extremely hot and very flavorful . I love how clean it is here, which, yes, it should be anywhere, but I've been else where... I must preface this review by saying this was my first visit to a Mongolian BBQ place and that I'm writing the review from the view of a Vegetarian because my carnivore Husband was at work! I came here on a Wednesday night at 6pm and thankfully there were only a few people ahead of me in line, and about half the restaurant full. The whole process from start to finish still took about 15 minutes so I can see how it would take a long time during rush hour! Inside is nice and new and clean. I liked the atmosphere inside, even though they did have a few TVs around the restaurant it didn't distract too much. I was nervous coming here because I didn't really know what to do or what to expect, but a sign said grab a bowl and fill it with food so I did! Dinner is $9.95 all you can eat if you eat in the restaurant. You can take leftovers with you if it's your first bowl, but not if its your second. Lunch is $7.95 but only for one bowl. I believe Children (under 10) are $5.95. Being a Vegetarian I expected it to be about $7.95 max, so I thought it was kind of high priced for customers who weren't going to have any meat. First you start at the meat section with beef, chicken, pork or lamb. I skipped this and moved on to the noodles. There was two types of noodles, one like a chow mein noodle and one that was bigger. I filled most of my bowl with noodles because I LOVE NOODLES! Next to the noodles there was cabbage and bean sprouts. Then on to the vegetable station. They had mushrooms, carrots, pineapple, broccoli, cucumber, baby corn, cilantro, green onions, spinach, onions and a few others I couldn't identify. I wish there were signs so I might have been able to try something new! Lastly is the sauce station which had house, teriyaki, oyster, soy, chili and hot sauce. Luckily these were labeled with some combination suggestions which made choosing my sauces SO much easier. They suggested putting at least 6 spoonfuls of sauce in your bowl for best flavor, so I put 7 to be safe. Unfortunately the sauces are really watered down, so only after I got home I realized it still wasn't enough! My noodles had very little flavor. Included with your meal is soup, rice, a vegetable spring roll, and a small wonton with sweet and sour sauce. For the soup there is a choice of hot and sour or egg drop soup and for the rice the choices were either fried rice or white rice. I really enjoyed the won ton chip with the sweet and sour sauce! Yum! I didn't really like the fried rice because it tasted like chicken to me even though there wasn't any in it. Ick. The hot and sour soup was good, it tasted different than every other hot and sour soup I have ever had, but it still had good flavor. All employees were super friendly and patient with me when I told then it was my first time. They even cleaned the whole cooktop because I didn't want my food to be spicy. Overall I thought it was good, but just seemed like a big bowl of chow mein to me? I don't know if I'm missing something? I just didn't see anything special. Sizzle is by far one of the cleanest, well stocked and freshest Mongolian Bbq places I have ever eaten at (which is why it's always my first pick). And the wait staff and grill workers are always very kind and helpful and never hesitate to refill my beverage (they have THE BEST diet pepsi)....Sooooo why not 5 stars? Well, it's become more noticeable lately whenever I come here to eat that the owner always has something to yell at someone about, whether it's his staff (who are awesome) or the patrons (which, Hello? Are the reason you're in business). I, myself, have never had an issue with him (I think it's because I never need a togo box) but I see the way he talks to people and it makes the entire atmosphere rather awkward and uncomfortable. If I wanted that, I'd have dinner with my boyfriend's ex girlfriend (don't have a boyfriend, just wanted to emphasize my point). After reading about similar issues on other yelp reviews, it's apparent that the owner is the primary reason that Sizzle is not sporting 5 Stars. It's really a shame because I remember how nice and kind he used to be when it first opened, and over the years, he's become a bit calloused and a Mongo Nazi (seinfeld reference). It's almost like he's self sabotaging his business and himself because if he talks to his female guests in a condescending manner (which I saw him do yesterday...The lady just wanted to know what oyster sauce does for flavor) they will refuse to bring their families back (just some marketing insight, women essential control what we buy) All in all, it's Mongolian bbq. The food is fresh and tasty (if you say it lacks flavor, that's because you're a crappy cook because you're making your own food). The owner is always there and seems to be pissed off at his employees all the time, he can be regularly seen yelling at the employees, I'd consider it borderline abusive...which makes his attempts to act really friendly with the customers really fake. Back to the food... The meats are fresh and they have a nice assortment of veggies. They lose points for not having tofu. One thing I like about them is that if you only go up once and can't finish, you can take your leftovers home, that's great if you have kids, because they never finish. Love Mongolian BBQ it's absolutely awesome and filling. the service here was very good however like some other Mongolian barbecue places I just wish they had more choices of things to put in to your bowl besides the meat and the noodles. there are some Mongolian BBQ places that have quite a bit of different things you can place into your bowl besides the main course of course like lamb chicken beef turkey sometimes and then of course two different kinds of noodles. some places have peanuts, some have cashews, some have cilantro some don't some have pineapple some don't some have dry noodles some don't. Some have one cook in the middle of lunch so I'm have two. My boyfriend and his kids love Mongolian. I've never been that big of a fan...I would NEVER choose Mongolian BBQ if given a choice, but I'm reviewing this for Adam. Not to mention, when I have eaten here it's been pretty tasty an I know a good business when I see one. The choices of meat, vegetables and sauce is impressive and abundant, so fans of this type of restaurant will be pleased. I really like how the owners keep the uncooked food fresh, stocked and free from neighboring food. The counter and entire restaurant is incredibly clean, without feeling sterile. This is a family owned business and they take the time to get to know their customers. Adam is recognized every time he goes there. The owner even went as far as letting him come back and pay once when he'd left his wallet at work. You have a choice of hot and sour or egg flower soup, fried or white rice, as well as wontons with sweet and sour and egg roll with your meal. All of that food is about 8 bucks at lunch, and plenty for two meals. All in all, despite not being my own personal favorite cuisine, this place is a slam dunk. It is just so sad to see an owner treat his staff so poorly. Not even poorly, just mean, plain old mean and ugly. In particular his treatment of the young man working tirelessly, round and round the hot planche, minute after minute, hour after hour only to be yelled at and ridiculed by an angry owner. Like, my heart hurts for that guy man. The young man politely asked my wife if she wanted him to clean the planche as the previous person had a lot of spices, or if she was ok with spices he would cook it right away. Something no Mongolian bbq has ever been kind enough to ask by the way. To my disbelief, this angered the owner. He began to berate the young man in front of us and the entire line. He yelled that there is mild, medium and spicy and he should know by looking at the planche? He yelled, "that is medium, not spicy" while pointing at the planche. Ridiculous right? He proceeded to my wife, "you're fine with that right?" I couldn't help but speak up and tell him that the guy was nicely trying to ensure that it wasn't too hot for her. But he just kept on yelling at him. The entire dinner (and we were sitting about as far away from the register/bbq line as possible) we sat eating with the owner yelling at the whole staff making the meal a joke really. We were starving so we ate there like idiots. In retrospect, I should've paid forward the kindness of the young man by sticking up for him more and leaving the restaurant. It's stunning that this type of behavior is tolerated. Why did all 8 or 9 of us in line not say anything while this hard working kid was getting berated? In the moment, I think we were all shocked. That's no excuse though. Humans should back humans. The owner should be flogged in public. Yes, flogged. Will never return. read more

I was hesitant coming here at first based on the negative reviews of the owner charlie. However my interaction with Charlie is that he is probably the nicest and most welcoming person I've ever met in a restaurant. He learned we were vegetarian and offered to clean the grill without us even asking. He then clarified which sauces we could eat and even offered to make us a special sauce anytime we came. The food was fresh and better than any other Mongolian bbq we've been to. Overall one of the better experiences we've had in a restaurant. We will definitely be coming back again and again. This Mongolian BBQ is really top notch - as good as it gets. I have been coming to Sizzle semi-regularly for a few years now. I consider myself somewhat of a noodle aficionado, so this is sorta my go-to meal when i'm having a craving. Now I know that most people think that all Mongolian BBQ's are created equal, but they are WRONG. This one is the creme de la creme of Mongos. To start: When you walk in the door, the line immediately starts. (This location does not seat you first and then send you through the line; they just have you jump right into the mix.) First up is the meat selection - not something that I include in my bowl. No, I am not a vegetarian - quite the opposite actually - I just do not prefer my meat shaved and curled, so I skip it and head straight for noodles and vegetables. Sizzle provides you with two different choices in noodle size - small and large - something that I have not seen other locations do. I prefer the smaller noodles. After I add my noodles, I complete my bowl with; onions, green bell peppers, tomatoes, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, garlic (lots and lots of garlic), sesame oil and hot oil. Then, after my bowl cooks, I add in chili paste and sriracha sauce... God my mouth is watering just thinking about how delicious it is. Once you get your bowl you go to the table that they have set up for you, which includes your choice of hot and sour soup or egg drop soup as well as the crispy wontons and red dip. One thing that this place does that other locations do not do is let you take your leftovers to go. The service is always nice and quick and the meal is always enjoyable. Absolutely stellar service and attention to detail was displayed regarding opening for dining service post COVID -19 closure. The buffet line to gather your ingredients was meticulously clean. The tongs were replaced after every party. Only one party was allowed through the line at a time. All of the staff was extremely friendly, attentive and wore masks. The meat was very tender and the vegetables were extremely fresh and perfectly cut. There was a really nice assortment of sauces to choose from. The finished product was super delicious!! So far this is the best place that can really fill me up for such an affordable price with such delicious food. First time I've visited this place was about 5 years ago when I used to work near by. When one of my co worker invited me here I didn't really wanted to go because I like to stick to the old places that I was eating at. When I came there I was even more disappointed because the meat was frozen. After my friend showed me how much you can fit into a place with smashing meat with another plate I got exited. After they fried my food I was really amazed because it was really delicious and I mean it. They also give you a soup for free and a side either with rice or friend rice. I literally finished it all. It was truly amazing food I had a great experience. You can bring here as many friends as possible they can and will move tables around for you. The parking lot is pretty big too. This place is amazing. The owner interacts with guests regularly and keeps it clean. Even on a short lunch I'm in and out fast.

We regularly eat here and have enjoyed every visit. Charlie is open for takeouts during this crisis. Just like normal,you get to select your ingredients, but the line is not crowded. You get fresh tongs to select with, even fresh dippers for your sauces! Then they cook it up for you, package it up and you have a wonderful dinner to take home or eat in the car. Charlie, who I believe is the owner/manager is incredible. We went here for lunch with the family and my boys have a mild sesame allergy. I inquired about being able to have them eat there and he was honest and said he can't 100% guarantee no sesame but he happily had the sizzle wok cleaned and my boys were great! He willingly offered all the products that had sesame in the ingredients and proceeded to get sauces for our table without sesame, even reading out the ingredients. Service is beyond great!
