The collection is…read moremassive, with every genre and skill level covered, and the upkeep is genuinely impressive: every single card is individually sleeved in plastic, so the games always feel brand new. The space is spotless, well-organized, and the staff make you feel instantly welcome. They've also got snacks and drinks on hand, so there's zero reason to leave once you've settled in. Needless to mention, unlike almost any other board game cafe in the Bay Area, they don't charge you just to sit and play. On top of that, they have a huge collection of comic books, board games, and comics-related items and artifacts available to purchase, so it's easy to walk out with more than you came in for. I love this place so much that it's always hard for me to leave. They close at 7 PM on weekends, and every single week, I find myself wishing I had just a little more time before heading out. If you want a calm, genuinely fun way to spend an afternoon, this is the spot in the entire Bay Area.

Inventory is really thoughtful, they have a fantastic selection of anything a nerdy heart could desire. Definitely recommend. My fiance also comes here for MtG events, and he has nothing but glowing things to say about this place.

This might be my favorite place to play Magic the Gathering. Upon coming in this establishment, I…read moream not treated like a customer, but more like a guest. I am welcomed and the staff is very helpful. They don't seem to be trying to milk every dollar out of me. In fact, it feels like they're trying to save me money. They keep their snacks and beverages low and affordable that no other store can claim. They are usually fully stocked on singles, packs, and boxes in addition to accessories. The environment where we play looks so cool with the artwork. I like the people that play here too. It's just a game, and we're there to have a good time. I'll reiterate again. It is the best place to play TCG in the 408/669 area code.

Anyways, I wanted to check this card shop since it was near a drink spot I had just finished going to and It was sort of disappointing. The cards were great, nice selection and the service was good up until another gentleman came in. I was getting help from a lady who was telling me the prices of cards and what not. The gentleman that came in was trying to exchange or sell his card and the lady who was helping me started helping him. I then found all the cards I wanted and went to the register to attempt to pay. Another lady came up to me and asked if the lady beforehand gave me the prices for each card. I said she did for the 2 I had in hand and the third she did not since she started helping the other person. The Second Lady asked the First Lady and the First Lady who originally helped me said she was comping cards from the other person. The second girl then just went back to playing card games? I then just stood there like an idiot waiting for some sort of help since I was technically the first one trying to shop (there were others but they were playing the card games) I atleast expected the First Lady to ring me up quickly or even the Second Lady to ring me up. First girl continued comping the other persons cards and the second girl went back to her game. I decided I shouldn't support this shop due to the awful service and l put the cards back in the binder and left. There are other card shops that I will continue going to over this one for sure. Absolutely zero awareness from these two workers, fantastic work really.

My favorite board game shop!! Whenever I travel, I try to check out all the board game shops I can,…read moresince they're so few and far between. Illusive is just unmatched. The customer service, the vibe, and the selection are all sooo good. I got into board games about a year ago, and discovering that you can play games for free in-store or rent from their huge selection for a small fee was a game changer. It really helped me and my partner figure out what kinds of games we liked before committing to a purchase. Every time I'm in, or whenever I have questions, the employees are so accommodating and kind. You can tell they genuinely know their stuff about every game they carry. They're also dog friendly, inclusive, creating a really welcoming community that i really appreciate!

As soon as I walked in, I was immediately greeted. They asked if I was looking for anything and was shown to the card sleeve section. I've been to multiple stores that specialize in cards. Why was this the ONLY place where I found a large assortment of card sleeves for players!! Lol I met Anna(?) or Ann, and customer service was amazing, gave all information I was asking for, and showed me the weekly schedule. I am more of a mega competitive player (but not a sore winner ;-)), so I wanted to know what their schedule looked like, what is their most supported game, etc. I believe this is a more chill, casual, friendlies kind of vibe (not a bad thing at all), and I'd be open to doing more drafts or pre-release kits or something. Hoping to bring in my coworkers and friends! I can tell that they care very much about making sure they can support their community and create an inclusive and healthy space. Masks are not a big deal for me, they're effective especially nowadays with allergies, new viruses, whatever lol Lots of different card games in stock and tabletop games for rent, a cute dog and a big space for players.. but what really made things great was speaking with Al about Witch Hat Atelier. I've been to a lot of comic book stores, and I'll see the "Favorite Picks", but that's about it. Al and I talked about it, we went through the art, explained the intro, and it really brought me in. Al's passion for stories really made me want to look at this series. I didn't buy it, but I can honestly say that I'd love to come back to the store to find out what the next big thing is Al will share with me. I can sense that these folks are passionate, accommodating, and personable. Hoping for further successes!
