The menu is very good, quite creative, but with all the usual favourites. The smoothies and coffee are excellent, the best we have found near Mt Macedon. Very impressed, we couldn't fault the experience and will certainly be back.

The menu is limited but often changes, today I had the burrito and I'll be coming back again for another serve. The decor is funky and hip and all things cool, the seating is a mixture of long tables where you share with others or small traditional cafe tables and chairs. I enjoy watching and smelling the cooking that goes on, it's like being in a kitchen at times. My only draw back and the reason for not giving this place 5 stars, is the coffee. I tried it once and could barely finish it. So I now avoid it and go for a chai latte instead.

I've driven past a few times and today I'm delighted that I stopped to try them out. It's breakfast o'clock and there is table service so take a seat and someone is right with you. They get it right with taking a coffee order right away, do I look like I need one? Well I did need one and lucky for everybody it was made promptly and delivered with a smile. Today I chose the Big Breaky Burger. I find it hard not to give these a try everywhere. I noted on the menu some additional ingredients that you won't typically see. This burger was clearly of a higher class. When it arrived (which was surprisingly quick, I guess they are quiet today, but awesome) the presentation was pretty eye catching. I blurted our something stupid and incomprehensible to the waitress. What I meant to say was "that looks awesome" and "thank you". Let's cut to the juice. The coffee is great, smooth with no bitterness! The bacon is delicious, maybe a light smokey flavour and crisped to perfection. The burger is made on a fluffy brioche bun as it should be. The avocado was generous and had a slight lemon flavour like they cared for it delicately begins the scenes. I love this place after one visit! I'll be back, and I'll bring other people. I was wondering why such a popular spot would be so isolated? But all is well worth the effort to get here. The venue is brimming with natural lighting, classic charm and warmth. For my breakfast, I ordered the Pixelated avocado (on a sourdough toast) because it just looked so darn intriguing. I didn't expect anything else to be honest, and turned out this was GOOD!! Every single element in this dish has complex flavors that compliments each other. The chili dried air kale, diced pixelated avocado and the soft shell crab was especially stunning. The dish certainly performs to its Instagram ability. For my drink, I ordered their matcha latte; it was strong tasting yet smooth. I could drink this all day! The Light Years is certainly not disappointing in any way, from the beautiful venue to the outstanding food, supported with service and ambiance for days. Overall a good value and tasty option for brunch/lunch in the leafy inner east.

We decided to try it out and made dinner reservations for 6 on a Saturday night. The eclectic menu choices pleased everyone of all ages. Our octopus and calamari starters were refreshingly spiced and tender. We enjoyed a juicy Paddock burger, chicken & king prawn laksa, steamed mussels (white wine garlic and Thai green broth) and King George whiting and tuna tartar with a side of caramelized carrots.
