Well, it turned out that this place was here as well, so I decided that I might have one here as well, and that was certainly a bonus because not only were the staff pretty friendly, but they also served up a pretty decent pot of tea as well. Okay, it isn't the biggest of places, but it was certainly a great place to kick back and relax.

Had a quick peek at the menu and it looks delish. A fairly small selection, however once you step foot inside you'll realise they need this, as it is a small quaint little setup. From Instagram posts and passing by, it seems to be three ladies that have set the place up and they've done a great job! Looks like they may be stocking 5 and dime bagels and short stop donuts too!! Oh dear!! A great new addition to Riversdale Rd and I look forward to returning to road test the menu and delicious sounding ice teas and homemade lemonade.

You will see the counter stacked high with cakes, pastries and salads all made here too. There is enough space inside for a couple of small groups though we chose to sit in the back courtyard which is under cover and slightly heated. We were all given nice blankets for our laps too - always a nice touch. There is a full brunch menu with some great options if none of the freshly baked pastries are what you feel like eating. We went for the poached eggs with salad (looked great), the southern style chicken burger with fries (great burger) and a sweet orange and ricotta hot cakes with lemon curd butter, maple syrup and sweet dukkah. This was tasty and not overly sweet which is excellent. Coffee was strong and tasty, I think it was Supreme. We would definitely go back and I can see why it's such a local favorite.

Stumbling brokenhearted to the street I glanced to my left and saw a very unassuming doorway with a La Marzocco on the counter. I took a step in the doorway and saw an eftpos machine with paywave. It was my time to shine. "Do you have an eftpos minimum?" I asked, probably with a hint of equal parts hope and anticipated begrudging acceptance in my eyes. "Nope, just tap away, lovely." A near-perfect large flat white later and I'm ready to shout my love for Cento Mani from the rooftops. They were my beacon of light in a precaffeinated darkness. Those treats in the fridge looked pretty amazing too, if only I didn't have to run to make my bus I probably would have settled in comfortably.

I've eaten Colombian meals here several times and they've been rustic gems each time. Like, among the most interesting and tasty meals I've ever eaten on this planet. Simple but just oh so tasty and satisfying. I had lentils with chorizo and pork today served with rice. It was just superb. I've also has the bean stew before which was truly wonderful (see photo). Great selection of beans and meats and superbly flavoured and seasoned. A real delight accompanied with rice and avocado. Nice reasonable price too. It's a clever little place they've made here. Fantastic use of space and nicely appointed. Mighty impressive coffee too. The staff have been brilliant as well whenever I've come here. Highly recommended.

My days in Melbourne revolve around many cafe-hopping adventures!…read more And to have shared a split moment of my life at Top Paddock was an absolute bliss. From the same talented group who created The Kettle Black, you can expect some magical looking brunch at Top Paddock! But first getting here was quite tricky. It involves some navigating unfamiliar streets, as the venue is kinda off the grid. The experience, however, was certainly worth the effort to get here. Upon walking in, I was instantly in love with the Interior - it was a spacious dining area with sunlit windows and green surroundings - the kind of cafe that offers you a little piece of solitude. Top Paddock most iconic menu is their Blueberry and Ricotta Hotcake. It is a beautifully plated thick hotcake infused generously in maple syrup, topped with fresh fruits, seeds, cream and garnished with eye-popping edible flowers - It was nothing less than scrumptious! Portion wise it was ginormous and easily last me through my next meal. For my coffee, I ordered their flat white; it was gentle tasting and smooth. I could drink this all day! Short to say, Top Paddock does not disappoint in any way. From the gorgeous food to inspiring atmosphere. The price is as what you'd expect to pay at a fine cafe in Melbourne... heavy on the pocket! But if you're looking for a gratifying cafe experience with Instagram worthy food, Top Paddock surely delivers.

Even with little car parking you can tell this place is popular as it always buzzing and depending on what time you visit it will be buzzing with very different aged crowds. Coffee is fantastic, and I have it on good authority (from over hearing table talk while waiting for my coffee) that the food is worth coming back for.

I'm also suspicious of places I can't see into BEFORE I commit to them. The idea is walking in, seeing the place and menu and walking out is mortifying so I would rather not try at all; so this place wasn't appealing at first. Then the farm cafe closed early for a wedding and my hand was forced - if I wanted a coffee that is. Now I am very glad fate intervened. This place is unique, interesting and friendly. After teetering along the side balcony and being greeted at the back door by a friendly face we chose a seat on the back balcony which has an amazing view of the farm and river. I was recommended to try the Coconut Chicken soup and i'm glad I did - it was delicious! And the pumpkin bread it came with was lovely. The coffee was great also. Just a few things to note: This place only takes cash and doesn't do table service - walk in and order at the counter. The food is that sort of rustic style tarts, sausage rolls, panni's etc. It's a great place to come, have a small bite to eat and day dream on the verandah - they even have blankets in winter. Expect to pay around $16 for some food and a coffee.

The way they have set this old house up as a cafe gives it the perfect level of charm and 'inviting-ness'. But no matter I went for an eggs Benedict instead, and so did the other half. Heard good things about the coffee here. Unfortunately I am no longer an avid drinker of coffee (thanks juice cleanse) so I just went for an OJ. That was served freshly squeezed in a huge mason jar it was cute. My partner got the latte and from the smell of it it seemed top notch! Also he said it was pretty damn special - so take his word for it guys :) So when hungover, time went by real slow for me. I was content sitting there spacing out and sipping on my OJ. Had I not been hungover though, I would have realized that 35 minutes went by and we didn't have our food yet. During that 35 minutes my partners coffee was long gone and 2 times that a waitresses came over she never offered him another coffee..! One of the waitresses came over extremely apologetic and promised us it was 5 mins away and admittedly they forgot about our order.. Dan was pretty dejected from this moment and wasn't very impressed with the place! They redeemed themselves though! Firstly they offered a second round of drinks on the house, and the food did come within 5 mins (notice that by the time we had our food we were now able to order the Reuben.. Dag nammit!) but the food was deeeeeelicous. It was beautifully presented and eggs were poached to perfection! We left there happy customers! So they had a rocky start, but we enjoyed the place and will come back (most likely after 1130 next time :))
