Avo #2 & Coconut Quinoa Porridge
Rachael A.

Inside, outside, big table, little table, cow's milk, soy milk, almond milk, normal bread, gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, hungry, peckish, intimate, social????????????? Touchwood caters for EVERYONE! In any situation, with any dietary preference and taste. It gets super busy on weekends, but is well worth the wait. My suggestion - go mid week and sit out the back in the courtyard surrounded by growing herbs, timber tables and friendly staff. The Avo #2 is incredible (I had mine with Goat's Cheese). It'll be hard to pay your bill and not choose something delicious from the cabinet before you leave. Try the Coconut Quinoa porridge in the take away cups - wowwowwow. I love love love it!!

FOMO averted by also ordering the prawn tacos.

This is a really large cafe, but it's also very popular and fills quickly! Nab a table where you can (maybe in the delightful covered courtyard out the back) and prepare to dedicate a bit of time to the extensive menu. There's a lot of choice for both breakfast and lunch here and I wanted to eat almost all of it. Here for a weekday ladies lunch, I opted for prawn tacos and they were excellent. $18 may seem steep for tacos, but it's a large plate and you get plenty of prawns. The superfood salad being devoured next to me looked like an amazing option for the more virtuous, too. The coffee was decent (Five Senses) and I will definitely be back to work my way through more of the delicious sounding menu.

As soon as I walked into Touchwood I was greeted by lovely staff who took my coffee order straight away, I noted they use 5 senses coffee. To be truthful I was there on a Tuesday morning around 11 and there weren't many people, it wasn't too busy, which I guess is a good thing on a Tuesday morning! The place itself is quite large and could fit, I would imagine many people in it. There weren't too many paintings or decorations apart from the cute cactus that sit on your table and some other hanging plants. I really really did enjoy my brunch of whole meal peanut butter waffle's shaped in little cute hearts, dripping with a raspberry sauce and a light peanut butter ricotta which was topped with homemade peanut butter brittle. The peanut butter taste was not overpowering either and the brittle was devine. I like this place but felt it lack ambiance. Its early days, so I am looking forward to coming back in a few months to see how its going

The Sahely siblings have no shortage of popular cafes under their belt and are behind Barry and Pillar of Salt. Touchwood completes their powerhouse trio in Richmond on the busy Bridge Road dining strip. Having visited all three establishments now, there is a clear theme that runs through all of them - good food, good coffee and catering for everyone. Touchwood's fit out takes elements of each of its sister cafes with the use of exposed timber beams and paneling like Pillar of Salt and the clean, open, spacious interior of Barry. Seating is a mixture of small tables outside on the footpath, inside communal benches and tables and a courtyard out the back. The overall vibe is like that of a The food menu also echoes the other venues with its creative takes on typical Melbourne breakfast and lunch options. Stand outs include the Sticky coconut quinoa pudding, Chilli scrambled eggs and the Prawn tacos. Barry's hugely popular Californian superfood salad also makes an appearance. On this visit I ordered the prawn tacos, which have gained mention in quite a few reviews. They were certainly not to disappoint with the perfect balance of chipotle mayo, slaw and chilli-coated, juicy prawns. Three tacos may not seem like much, but they were quite filling. Coffee is from Five Senses with a blend and single origin on offer as espresso and filter. There's is also the intriguing addition of coconut water cold drip, which I am yet to see anywhere else. Imagine a typical cold drip coffee but lighter and with a hint coconut sweetness. A must try for something different. Service was a little hit and miss during the weekend lunch time rush, though to be expected. Touchwood brings specialty coffee and great food to fill a void of sorts on busy Bridge Road and upholds the reputation of its sibling cafes.

Chilled, spacious spit perfect for breakfast, lunch, coffee and cakes. This place is a great spot if you're looking for a change of scenery when it comes to working from home, the coconut cold drip really packs a punch paired with the Avocado Toast #1 makes for a perfect meal any time of the day! There are also loads of magazines ready for you to read so it also proves to be a great place to slip away to for an hour (or 3) when you want some alone time!

The iced latte rocks

I wanted to love this place. The fit out is awesome and the courtyard is perfect, however the food left us disappointed today. I ordered the fresh and poached fruit with house made granola and yoghurt. To my horror a plate of fruit arrived with two tablespoons of granola and four tablespoons of yoghurt. Huh? For $13? Did I say "Diet"? My partner had the burger and chips but he left all the chips as they were floppy and chewy. Next time we'd visit for the yummy iced latte and skip the food. Disappointing as we expected more.

Awesome prawn tacos with smashed avo and coleslaw #swoom

This would have to be one of the best places along Bridge Road for brunch and lunch. For too many years, Bridge Road hovered in this awkward post-war vibe with dubious furniture, fish and chip and souvlaki shops. And then the hipsters with good taste came along - and welcome Touchwood. Awesome range of brunches and lunches are on offer here with beards and sleeve tattoos aplenty, a couple of different variations of avo on toast and good coffee and soy chai lattes to boot. Yes, its my utopia, don't judge. I feasted on smashed avo with feta cheese, salmon and a poached egg on deliciously dense multigrain bread. Top it off with a soy chai latte makes it pretty much a perfect brunch for thee. I've also been to lunch here and can highly highly highly recommend the prawn tacos with smashed avo and coleslaw. Get a side of the chilli fries too! Touchwood is quite a large space, filled with rustic French provincial furniture - get in early on the weekends it gets pumping #justsaying

This is the pinnacle of brunch! Fresh, healthy options, chefs who know what they're doing, and beautifully plated, unique dishes. This is one for the instagram!

This is a fresh new place on Bridge Road. Extensive menu for breakfast and lunch. Has a barn yard feel to it. This part of Bridge Road needed something as exciting as Topuchwood and now it has landed!

Unlike any coffee I have ever tasted. So much flavour in their beans. I recommend getting their lattes. Staff are nice and friendly.

It's feel-good food with a feel-good outcome. The space is large and airy, the perfect place to unwind over breakfast, lunch or dinner. I came for breakfast, but it appears they've got a few beers on tap and a bar so I am keen to check out their evening offerings. For breakfast I was torn between their 'Yeusli' (Organic puffed quinoa, chia seeds, activated buckwheat, figs, goji berries, pomegranate seeds, coconut flakes, almonds, currents, raw cinnamon, your choice of milk on the side) and one of their incredible looking smoothies. I opted for the Yeusli and had no regrets. Delicious, super-charged with raw food goodness and a reasonably-sized, filling portion. No overload of oats and yoghurt like most cafe muesli offerings. Normally I don't give 5 stars if the coffee isn't amazing, but I loved the different food offering and concept enough to bump it back up. Coffee is totally fine but the black coffee is not amazing. If you're a latte drinker you probably won't notice at all and there's the bonus of being able to choose different milks if you're not into soy or lactose. The staff were friendly and accommodating, all menu items were well priced and can feed you for $15 or less. Winner.

Mmmmm, lunch! 7…read moreGrams sure knows how to hit the spot. I used to venture here quite regularly for lunch when I worked down the road on Church Street. And I ventured back again the other day when I was in the area and hunger struck. And boy am I glad I did. They have lots of options: sandwiches, wraps, focaccia & a selection of hot food. None of which I have tried because of the incredible range of super tasty salads on offer. And these aren't your boring green tasteless salads. Think falafel, brown rice, roasted sweet potato, Greek, tuna, quinoa, freekah, potato, tabouli, beetroot and more! Choose your size (small or large), to have in (for an extra $1) or take away and then pick which ones you want. They load them into your container and away you go. I've tried many different ones, this last time included 4 types: roast sweet potato, freekah, tabouli & falafel salad - a bit of a middle eastern slant, totally delicious and healthy to boot, getting in a good couple of serves of veggies for lunch! I couldn't finish the whole thing (large takeaway container) so I ate half and saved the rest for alongside dinner that evening. Delish! I've also heard great things about the coffee, but haven't tried it myself. They are only open Monday to Friday, but they open super early (pre 6am) for your pre work coffee. There are a few outdoor tables that are good for a sunny day, but no room inside to sit and eat so you might need to takeaway if the weather ain't great. Friendly & efficient service tops it all off. Highly recommend you check it out if you work in the area or are passing through!

Traveling to Australia was a learning experience. I learned that drop bears aren't real, avocados…read moreare unbelievably expensive, and that United Airlines won't get you home on time. But the one of the biggest lessons I learned was that Australia's coffee game is on a whole. 'nother. level. Regardless of where I went to eat or just chill, the establishment would have a ~$6000 espresso machine ready to go. Aunty Peg's, however, was the only place that I saw espresso machines without steam wands. My cousin, Jeremy, told me that they specialize in coffee in it's purest form, and thus, would never need steam wands (since they're never steaming milk). Jeremy and I are both fond of filter coffee, so we both decided to get a flight of V60s. This was a terrible idea. We didn't realized that that meant we would both have to drink ~800 mL of coffee each. Caffeine doesn't really do anything to me, but Jeremy was starting to get jittery by the end of the flight. If you're coming here with someone else, share the flight. However, if you're getting a flight of espresso, then yeah, it would make perfect sense to have your own. The flight included three different types of coffee each processed a different way. We tried a single origin, a honey processed single origin, and the gesha. I wish they offered the honey processed coffee for purchase, because that one was my favorite. It was so smooth and tasted like mangoes. The gesha reminded me of an Earl Grey tea, which was a weird since it's, you know, coffee. Regardless, all three of the coffees were delicious. The staff at Aunty Peg's was great too. The barista was laser focused while making the drinks. Once he finished making our flight, he was super chill and fun to talk to. I had a great time here. Everything about Aunty Peg's is what I want to see more of in Oklahoma city. I'm especially glad that I bought some coffee to take home. Try the Humbler, it tastes fantastic!

Many months in the making, the rumour mill has been rife with what was going on at their Collingwood site. Finally it is open, presenting itself in the form of a roastery, cafe, shop, warehouse and training centre. From the moment of walking in the front door the warehouse nature of the venue is apparent with large open spaces. Located directly in front of the door is the front counter with a delicious selection of pastries and cakes, freshly baked upstairs. Next to the counter are the large, ornate, dresser-style shop shelves with a vast array of brewing equipment, beans, merchandise and books for sale. The coffee bar is the centrepiece with a sweeping array of custom single group heads, grinders, filter brewing equipment and what appear to be beer taps. But they're not beer taps in the sense that they pour beer. Pioneering a new technique of cold brew coffee, a local Geelong-based brewery has been enlisted to brew coffee in cold water which is then kegged and poured on tap with the help of some nitrogen. Served in a beer glass to complete the experience, it almost similar to Guinness in body. A delicious apple and raspberry tea cake matched surprisingly well. It should also be noted that this is a black coffee-only cafe, there is no milk available. This has been done to better highlight the qualities of the many coffee beans on offer. Next to the bar are a number of benches with demo brewing equipment for prospective customers to try out with an endless supply of beans. The stars of the show, the roasting machines, are visible further back in the warehouse. It is clear that Aunty Peg's is all about bringing quality coffee and its origins and various brewing techniques closer to the general public. A must visit for anyone interested more in coffee or just to taste some good coffee and tasty cakes and pastries. But above all else, visit for the cold brew.
