For me it's always a soy flat white. They make an ok one here. When in my own neighbourhood of Brunswick East, I like to get my flat white from Padre so that's some tough competition. My niece is fond of hot chocolates and she always seems pretty pleased with herself when she's drinking one from Clancy's. She has also manipulated me with all her cuteness and sweet talk to buy her many a smiley faced mini meringue, which make her go a little crazy but I can't help but give in. She picks off the smarties that make up the eyes then eats the rest in the most messy way she can. Let this be a warning to people coming in here with kids - there is a very attractive display cabinet full of sweet things that look irresistible to children, do not let them see it. The Clancy's ladies are very accommodating and lovely and will always have a friendly little chat with my niece, which makes me like them even more.

I was really near ordering our christmas cake there but I wanted to try their cakes first so I did. And I'm glad I did because unfortunately the cakes were awful !! I took a mozzarella, tomato and basil sandwich, a frangipane apricot tart and a lemon meringue pie. The mozzarella sandwich was bland, really, neither the tomato nor the mozzarella had any taste and there was ONE (old, brown) basil leaf in the whole sandwich... the bread was ok tho but that's all. The frangipane tart was ok, but the apricot weren't good, all dry, super sweet and hard... I ate the frangipane but had to remove everything on top of it... And last but definitely worse, the lemon meringue pie, I'm nearly 100% sure it wasn't fresh at all, the lemon filling was one of the worse things I ever tasted. I started by one bite, where I mainly had some of the weird meringue, but quickly realised something wasn't quite right. On the second bite I also took some lemon filling and... actually had to spit it out because its awful taste nearly got me sick. I ended up putting everything in the trash... I'm so disappointed...

I had to do a whole separate transaction on EFT-POS just to pay for this .50c bag. I feel that not only are they a bit overpriced, but they need to use common sense when charging for a bag after someone has spent a certain amount. It's a bit off putting, however I'm sure the lure of their bubka (the best I've ever eaten anywhere) will get me back there eventually down the road ...

If you are planning to have people over for brunch I highly recommend pre ordering some mini bagels. Your guests will be as happy as I am when I go to someone's house for brunch and I see those little circles of holy dough.
