If you've not had the chance, go get your Little Woodpecker on, you won't regret it!

Little Woodpecker is a cute little cafe that only the locals seem to know about - most of the customers appear to be on first name basis with the staff, and everybody is friendly & smiling. With a menu that caters to the major groups of customers (vegan, veggie, GF, etc) you can't really go wrong if you pick this place as a brunch destination! All day Breakfast & Lunch, great variety & yummy flavours (not to mention, totally Instagrammable presentation!), great coffee & smoothie options...what's not to love? Plus it changes with the seasons, so you know everything's fresh & delicious! I came with a friend and we got the shareplate (The Last Supper) which was an AMAZING tapas board with baked eggs, grain salad, falafel, dips, roasted mushrooms, fresh sourdough....man, it was quite the smorgasbord! The shareplate for 2 seemed enough for 3 people to split, because we couldn't eat it all (and we can really pack it in, folks. No namby-pamby nibblers here) Honestly, it seemed like the way to do it, because you got to try a little of everything! If you don't choose to go that way though, don't worry - the serves are all generous & every mouthful is bliss :) Also, before I forget - they also have a countertop CHOC-FULL of freshly baked sweets! I was eying off their orange poppyseed muffins & their Doughnuts/Cronuts/danishes/croissants/omg it all looked so good I can't even list it all So yeah! If you're around, get your butt to Little Woodpecker for an awesome meal!

It's right on the corner, with plenty of parking nearby. It's very quaint, painted brick, like it belongs outside, it's a small cozy cafe, but it was bustling for brunch time. We got seated in the back patio area, which was again, very cute and cozy. Ordered was the Beets and Thyme Salmon, a Sweet Monkey and a Vanilla Cronut. I had the lemon grass and ginger tea, which was very spot on with the salmon. It came out like a work of art and was so yummy, the flavor matched the presence. It was best getting a little bit of everything on one forkful, the salmon, the thyme, the egg and potato rosti. The Sweet Monkey delivered just as well, the roti was crunchy and soft, and all of the toppings went well with it, nothing over the top that masked the others, it just worked. The Vanilla Cronut was good; yes, I've had better ones, both for the purpose of having a cronut, it did it's job. I didn't catch our waitresses name, but every single person here was more than friendly. All of their menu items look creative and tasty. I eyed some of the burgers other tables ordered, they were good portioned and looked good. And skimming over the lunch menu, it definitely is a place to come back to. I think I read that breakfast is all day here, but don't quote me on that one.

The Coffee is better than those big coffee chain but you cannot expect speciality coffee grade (proud Mary, 5 senses, st Ali, etc) - but it satisfy my caffeine dose for the day. Food (4 stars)- I've ordered Porky Pig, myself with an Asian background I am very picky with Pork smell and how they cook. Three monkey cooked this tender soft n caramelised with sweet tamarind. The salad at the side compliment it well. Jeng

4.3. This is an excellent cafe that gets all the fundamentals right. It has an excellent menu,…read morespace, food and service. It is easily the best cafe in the area from what I've seen so far, particularly in the North Blackburn and Nunawading areas. First off, it's a decently styled light filled cafe. It's well designed and laid out. It has interesting shapes and textures throughout including a light wood feature wall, numerous funky light fittings and a good number of tables. There's also a decent sized and shaded outdoor area. They have a very good hipster style menu here. There are stacks of good choices, both healthy and not so healthy. The nieces and nephews section of the menu is undeniably cute. I started with a sumptuous long black served on a cute board with a tiny glass of sparkling water. This was as pretty as a picture. Lovely St Ali coffee on offer here. It's hard to start a meal better for mine than having coffee of this quality. I ordered the brunch salad with grilled broccolini, broad beans, kale, avocado, beetroot hummus, walnuts and quinoa with pomegranate dressing. I added salmon and poached egg and feta ($2 only). The dish was well presented and was absolutely delicious. It's a very healthy dish and a good sized serve. I couldn't fault it. I thought it was a brilliant dish and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was excellent throughout. The staff were up and about. Attentive, polite and efficient. This is a terrific cafe. It would give a few highly rated inner city brunch places a run for their money on what I saw today.

Not only has Limelight café proven that they are above the rest, they have proven that they are far, far above the rest. With fresh brightly lit and colourful décor, the interior is clean and streamlined. The tables aren't too close together and they tend to play video hits on the television screens at each end of the room. The service here is awesome, albeit relaxed, and it is immediately obvious that it is a family business. To make it obvious to them that you are ready to order, close your menus. Otherwise they would rather not rush you, which I really appreciate. It has the capacity to seat 75 people inside and 75 people outside. I've never been there when it is completely packed but I have driven past and seen quite a few people inside. You can also hire out the place for functions and birthdays - this seems pretty popular and with such great design it is easy to see why. The food is Mediterranean and priced well with mains costing around $15-$25. There are some really good vegetarian options with the Veggie Burger being my favourite. Otherwise they make a very tasty Calamari with Polenta. For dessert you absolutely cannot go past the Mars Bar cake - it is mouth wateringly delicious! Best of all, Limelight Café is open every single day from 8am to 11pm so there is no excuse not to pay them a visit.

The food is decent and the wait staff energetic and attentive, but overall, it just feels like another generic suburbian cafe/restaurant hybrid, and the menu reflects this (they have everything from spring rolls and curry laksa to souvlaki, chicken parma to steak, fish and chips etc). Nothing special about it, but nothing bad either.
