4.3. This is an excellent cafe that gets all the fundamentals right. It has an excellent menu, space, food and service. It is easily the best cafe in the area from what I've seen so far, particularly in the North Blackburn and Nunawading areas.
First off, it's a decently styled light filled cafe. It's well designed and laid out. It has interesting shapes and textures throughout including a light wood feature wall, numerous funky light fittings and a good number of tables. There's also a decent sized and shaded outdoor area.
They have a very good hipster style menu here. There are stacks of good choices, both healthy and not so healthy. The nieces and nephews section of the menu is undeniably cute. I started with a sumptuous long black served on a cute board with a tiny glass of sparkling water. This was as pretty as a picture. Lovely St Ali coffee on offer here. It's hard to start a meal better for mine than having coffee of this quality.
I ordered the brunch salad with grilled broccolini, broad beans, kale, avocado, beetroot hummus, walnuts and quinoa with pomegranate dressing. I added salmon and poached egg and feta ($2 only). The dish was well presented and was absolutely delicious. It's a very healthy dish and a good sized serve. I couldn't fault it. I thought it was a brilliant dish and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Service was excellent throughout. The staff were up and about. Attentive, polite and efficient.
This is a terrific cafe. It would give a few highly rated inner city brunch places a run for their money on what I saw today. read more
