Percy's Aeroplane is a pocket sized cafe located in Kew and quite a popular brunch destination in the neighborhood. They got such an adorable interior design and welcoming atmosphere; bright, youthful and cheery from the major applications of yellow colors and exposed white bricks, the space was also embellished with cute decorations that matches with their theme perfectly.
For my brunch, I went with their most popular offering, Matcha Hotcakes. The presentation was very orgasmic to the eye, pictured this - two green tea hotcakes sandwiched between a Nutella brioche donut drizzled with chocolate ganache and garnished with berries and whipped cream. Sounds incredible delicious ain't it? Well... Not so much. The hotcakes were completely soggy, drenched with disgustingly sweet and runny chocolate and smothered with the bitter raspberry jam.... Overall, it tasted way too confusing for my simple palate.
I also got their matcha latte, and it came in a cute "bear" presentation, but taste-wise, it was equally disappointing. Despite of the bright green color, there was no hint of the green tea, no sweetness, no taste whatsoever, this to me tasted just like a plain warm milk.
Overall, other than the playful interior layout and the gorgeous looking food, color me unimpressed. read more
