this review is entirely based on the amazingly poor customer service i received here. I'll preface by saying that I not only got a decent price on the bed that i wanted. What ruined my experience here and frustrated me so much was the delivery. I had just moved to the area, and was moving from a furnished temporary place into my permanent apartment, so i needed a bed before i moved in. The reason we went with Sit N Sleep instead of their similarly priced competitors was because they could deliver on a tuesday evening between 4 pm and 8pm. We were very clear that we needed delivery at that time in order for us to purchase from them. Fast forward to the day before delivery, and i get a confirmation call to tell me that i was confirmed for a tuesday morning delivery. Now the nature of my job does not allow me to take tuesday morning off. When i called our sales rep at the store to get to the bottom of things is when things reallyhit the fan. He explained to us that they were changing some sort of computer system and that they werent doing delivery's on that tuesday evening, but if i needed, i could push my delivery back to the following monday. This would mean no place to sleep for 6 days. Awesome. I then tried to find out what exactly happened as I was also scrambling to find out how to get delivery of my bed. the sales rep would only tell me that no one made a mistake, he just didnt have all the information when he made the sale. I then asked to speak to his manager, only to find out that he was the manager. The manager offered no apology, there was no attempt to remedy the situation, and no sympathy. In fact, all he would do is just insist that neither he nor sit n sleep made a mistake, despite the fact that i was sold a tuesday evening delivery, when a tuesday evening delivery was impossible according to him. This was a horrible experience all around, and their customer service was terrible. read more

Hello Yelpers, I went to sit and sleep during lunch time last week. Danny Shebat helped me out. Straight forward and stand up person to deal with. Danny showed me a few beds and I laid down on a few and he advised me to get a better BeautyRest Grand Rapids, and thank Goodness, So worth it, best decision I've ever made. I got in and out asap and had time left to eat lunch. Great communication. He set up appointment and it was delivered as expected and promised. Everything that was said was received. Before you buy anywhere else, I recommend going to the Sit n' Sleep in Glendale. Salesman, Danny Shebat was awesome! Not only was Danny very friendly, accommodating and gave me a great deal on a queen size bed, but most importantly he made me feel comfortable and not pressured to buy. I was very impressed with the customer service, (by the way few places seem to offer this now a days), that I wanted to yelp about it. Another mention, although I mainly dealt with Danny Shebat, all the salespeople there where friendly. I was very impressed with the salesmanship here. Matt was informative, helpful and not pushy at all. One of the highlights of this place is that they have a simulator you lie down on. It measures your body distribution and gives you a target or suggested mattress type, from cushy to firm, that's best for your body type... (And you get a printout of your results. Woo hoo!) They have an extensive selection and there were definitely a few here worth purchasing. They would have delivered next day, on a Sunday for no extra charge, and the prices were good. But mattress shopping is draining. All that lying down and trying to imagine how it would feel eight hours later actually makes you confused. So confused that we decided to continue shopping (I mean it is a $1000-$5000 investment!) So we checked a couple of other mattress sellers within the same block. There are a ton. But most others were sketchy and over-priced. Ended up buying from Al's (which you can read about here too). But even so, I would highly recommend a trip to and potential purchase from Sit N Sleep if you're in the market for a new bed. read more

We went to the Glendale store on the last day of the Labor Day sale. Ironically, I couldn't go during Labor Day Weekend because my back was in so much pain and my fibromyalgia (chronic pain) was acting up. We were greeted by Jesus whom I told about my research for the best fibromyalgia mattresses. He understood my condition and pointed me in the direction of two mattresses, which happened to be the same mattresses I had been recommended on-line. We tried others just to be sure. The whole time we were trying mattresses, Jesus was there to answer our questions, but walked away to let us be. ( I hate sales people who "hover" or follow you around.) He was the perfect match of knowledge, friendliness, and letting us shop on our own. When we told him we were going to run across the street to compare prices, he didn't pull the usual high pressure tactics; he didn't need to, as it turned out, because he was confident of his product and pricing. We went to the 1st store where they had the same mattress way over priced even on sale. The sales person was not confident, didn't know his product or pricing, and didn't seem to care when we walked out the door. The 2nd store, didn't carry either bed but did tell us which store carried them. The 3rd store had one of the mattresses we wanted and two salesmen. One was trying to close a sale and was badmouthing a competitor, which I hate, and the other salesman saw us lying on the bed, looking for nonexistent prices and never once bothered to say hello. As we left I shouted from the door, "Thank you so much for your help and you just lost a sale." I know, I know, but I couldn't help see the smug little bastard's jaw drop! The 4th competitor's store had the exact mattress we wanted to compare, unfortunately, I was overwhelmed by the foul smell of stale cigarettes and mothballs. The salesman was nice and very to the point of what he could offer. However, it did crack me up when he whipped out his clipboard to show the pricing and "names" other stores use for the same product. His "list" didn't even have the correct name or regular price of the competitor that he was referring to. Of course, we walked back across the street to Sit 'n Sleep and were given a better deal, had a better experience, quickly took care of the financing process, given extras that were greatly appreciated and offered the best customer service experience I have had from any company in a long time. Thank you for my heavenly pillows which have already helped my pain and I don't think I have ever been so excited to get a product that is the last thing people think about purchasing! It's been a difficult road to find the right bed for me, and in the past I've tried many many mattresses never finding them comfortable, and after settling on a couple I even sent them back during the trial period. Discouraged, I settled on a hand-me-down and tried to make it comfortable with foam toppers and slept on that bed for at least 8 years. Fast forward to Dec. 2016 I decided it was time for a NEW BED!!! So I came to Sit 'n Sleep's year end sale and Wayne Hargraves greeted me very nicely and asked what kind of bed I was looking for.. he kindly showed me around the store to different beds in my price range, and we found I real nice one. I told him about my past experience and how reluctant I am, so he had me lay down on a mattress designed to figure out the type of bed best for your body. Turns out that machine picked the same category as the bed Wayne showed me. He also pointed out some amazing sheets and a great pillow. The bed arrived when it was supposed to (between 2-6) in fact it showed up at 2:30 and I appreciated having it arrive earlier than later, that was a bonus! Everything was as I ordered, and although I was excited to write a nice review for Wayne, I waited until after a few nights of sleep to be sure I wouldn't end up returning this mattress too.. after a week, the final verdict is THIS ONE IS A KEEPER!!! It is so perfect for me!!! I love this bed!!! No tossing and turning just pure cozy comfort. Also the sheets are so smooth and the pillow is very nice. Everything is perfect. Salesman was nice enough, and was helpful with selection. We were thrilled that he promised to deliver our mattress of choice in just 3 days. We fell victim to the classic bait and switch. Wrong mattress delivered, and were told that our mattress of choice was backordered and not available for at least 2 weeks. Not to worry though, our salesman advised to keep the mattress that was delivered and when ours came in, they would switch them. 3 weeks pass and mattress finally comes in, ready to be delivered, but when the delivery guy arrives, they refuse to take the wrong mattress away, because there are a few "tiny" stains. Thus stuck with the wrong mattress. Be careful, don't fall for the bait and switch used by these guys. read more

My fiance and I spent several days shopping for beds and almost walked right by this place because we were so fed up with the experiences we'd had up until then. I'm so glad we walked in. Mike Smollen approached us and was immediately helpful, without being pushy. We had been dealing at other stores with salesmen who clearly had their own ideas about which beds to push on us. Mike was different- he LISTENED. Seems like a simple thing, but it made all the difference. Once he heard what we were looking for, he showed us three different models and was able to answer all of our questions. You can always tell whether a salesperson actually knows the answer. Mike was clearly knowledgeable, and took his time with us. We couldn't decide between two models and Mike was the one who suggested that we take our time, because he didn't want to see us have to return a bed and pay the exchange fee. I was so impressed that he was the one telling us to wait if we weren't ready. A couple weeks later, we went to the new Sit n Sleep in Studio City, just to see if we got the same recommendations at that store. Well, we were IGNORED. For thirty minutes, no one approached us. And not because they were busy. the salespeople were all at their computers, and couldn't be bothered. When we finally approached one and asked for help, she said, "All of the information about each bed should be displayed on the tags. That's why we put them there." Not helpful at all. She couldn't answer any questions about the bed and wasn't interested in talking to us at all. The only helpful piece of information was that she told us they were running a Thanksgiving sale where you could do 3 year financing instead of 2. We left the store, called the Glendale store to see if Mike was working there, asked him if we could get the 3 year financing, and drove all the way over there on a Friday night just to work with him and give him the sale. And I'm so glad we did. we LOVE our bed. We've had it for a couple weeks now and are both sleeping great. He gave us a great discount, threw in a nice mattress pad and free frame for us, too. It was the best, most thorough and rewarding bed-buying experience I've ever had. We're going to send all of our friends to Mike at Sit n Sleep! read more

I got my new mattress from Sit n' Sleep at the Memorial Day sale. I am a tough customer, but I am very satisfied with my purchase. First, I researched what I wanted over the internet and their website. When I walked in I said to the salesman - "I know what I want. and I want your cheapest mattress." He took me to the cheepest, and I layed down on it - it was like laying on hard little lumps of cotton. So I asked what else there was in this price range. We walked around the store, and he started to show me things that were too high for me. I told him exactly that. He did not ask me to look at any other prices. He got the drift that I needed inexpensive and he did not pressure me in any way.. He took me back to the inexpensive mattresses that all were in one corner. He explained that if I bought the cheapest mattress in the store, it did not meet their minimum price for the free delivery, and he would have to charge me $50 for delivery. He suggested the next bed up in my price range. I liked it so I bought it. I got a full sized mattress for under $500. The day before delivery, they left me a recorded message saying that the mattress would be delivered in the afternoon. I must have been the last person on the delivery schedule. But the delivery men were very nice, and set up the bed perfectly. The bed is nice and soft but firm. I am really happy with the comfort level. The only thing that I don't like is that the height seems higher than the mattress that was in the store. I am short, and I have to crawl up onto the bed. My cat will need some pet stairs to make it up. But all in all, it is a good comfortable bed. And I was happy with the sales staff and the delivery. read more

Visited 3 stores in Glendale. Sleep Number and two other shady places. All three places we could not figure out a bed that we both liked. My girlfriend likes a soft bed and I am the opposite so we thought sleep number would do the trick but their cheapest bed $600 (on sale) was not comfortable at all, even though it was a sleep number. The next price up was $2500, which was out of our budget and of course that's the price range they start to get comfortable. We came to sleep the Sit n Sleep, our 4th attempt to find a mattress we liked an found Wayne Hargraves. He did a support test with my girlfriend and I where it found just the right support number (not comfort number [Wayne explained the difference and there totally is one, check it out for yourself]). He was really patient with us, no haggling, unlike the place we went before. He was very professional in both his communication and attire, which I extremely appreciated. No sales pitches, just down to earth, normal communication, a model salesman! Over all awesome experience! Will come back here in 10 years! Lol read more

Think twice before coming here to buy yourself a mattress. We had our service dog with us and he asked us who the service dog is for which is inappropriate and not allowed. They are GREAT at just trying to sell you whatever benefits them. We originally went in about 2 years ago and he sold us the "Ferrari" of mattresses. We spent $4100 on the mattress and 1700 on the base. We were having horrible sleep and back problems. In and out of the chiro office. We went to the store to check our warranty. They sent an inspector out and sure enough our mattress was defected. We went back in to choose a new mattress since we had warranty and it gave us $4100 credit. He was pushing for us to go with another brand not tempurpedic because he couldn't give us a discount on it and bring it down to $4100 which would have been an issue. We asked for the manager and he said he will go talk to him and have him come over when he's done with the customer. The MANAGER continued to ignore us and go from one customer to the next even new customers that had walked in after we had asked to talk to him. We finally got a nice representative call us from sit and sleep. She gave us $700 discount and 2 free pillows. We walked out feeling accomplished that we didn't purchase from them. They aren't willing to help you they just want to push you to buy what's best for them. read more

We knew we wanted a Tempur-Pedic mattress, but were unfamiliar with the various models and options currently on offer. We went first to Sit 'n Sleep because we understood it had many of the models and permutations on the showroom floor. We were approached by an affable, older man who said he had been selling mattresses for decades. As we narrowed our choice, we asked a number of specific questions. One of these was whether the mattresses (the bed we wanted was a "split King") could be returned. He said they could, within sixty days of purchase. When we wavered in deciding due to the price of our choice, he said he would throw in some "incentives," including a 15 year vs. "normal" 10 year warranty on the mattresses. We were on the verge of closing the deal, but decided to verify what we'd been told by visiting two other mattress stores, which were located within a block or so of Sit n' Sleep. What we learned was disturbing. First, we were informed that, like most of its competitors, Sit n' Sleep charges a 20% "restocking" fee for mattress returns.lSecond, we learned that Tempur-Pedic's standard warranty on the mattresses we'd selected was 20 years, not 10 as the salesman had represented, nor the15 he'd offered as a special concession. We purchased the mattresses and base from one of the other two stores we'd visited. Key to our decision was the store's willingness to waive the restocking fee. I've given Sit n' Sleep two stars rather than one because I don't know whether the salesman intentionally or negligently misled us. Given his representation that he's been in the mattress business for 30 years, I'm inclined to think it was the former, but I feel I should give him the benefit of the doubt. I have several pieces of advice based upon this experience: 1. Do not buy at the first place you visit. As mattress stores seem to be geographically proximate to one another, you can visit several places in pretty short order; 2. Beyond price, ask about return policy, including time period, charges for pickup, restocking fees, and, perhaps most importantly, whether you get back your money or must take your refund as store credit; and 3. Take notes on what you are told. When you are ready to buy and you've been told certain things that are important to you, write them down and ask the salesman to initial them. read more

before I went here ( 9/18/10 ) with my wife I checked the reviews online & I must admit I was completely shocked by all the negativity experienced by people at this location. But , because of it's location , I figured , okay well , we could just stop in & look around ourselves & see how it goes. At least we could figure out what we like in terms of models & brands etc... As soon as we left the reality of how COMPLETELY incompetent the company was painfully obvious. 1st delivery: wrong frame, 2nd delivery: wrong frame again, 3rd delivery: finally received bed but with no frame this time. Frustrated beyond words, I simply signed the delivery form to accept the bed. Sadly we sold our old bed the day of the 1st delivery, so for 5 days we were camping in our own house... Awesome. The reason I am a fan of this particular Sit 'n Sleep is because of their sales associate Joe! Nice guy, helpful, understanding. I gave him a hard time because I was looking for a top notch mattress, but very low budget. It's been about a month and I LOVE my new mattress... thanks JOE! I even purchased one of their safety sheets because he's a good seller and persuaded me, no worries I am happy with it. Only thing that made me upset was I purchased two $90 pillows and after only a week of use I tried to take them back, but couldn't. Joe had failed to tell me they were nonrefundable! So now I have two expensive pillows that are NOT comfortable. The delivery men were also very nice, arrived during the time they said they would and took my old mattress. I was in the market for an adjustable bed. Seeing the Sit 'n Sleep commercials I stopped by the store and was met by Armen Tashchyan at the door. Explaining what I wanted he explained the different styles and allowed me to try out the bed without any pressure and bought one fitting my need. While Armen offered next day delivery, I scheduled for the following week. As I was so impressed with Armen's service I decided to also get a new mattress. Again, he was patient providing me different options. He encouraged me to take my time, laying on the mattresses before I made my selection. He arranged for both orders to be placed on the same invoice and had them combined in the same delivery. On delivery day, the adjustable base could not be delivered, due to how my stairs were built. The delivery team made every attempt but without two more delivery people, it could not be brought over the 2nd floor bannister. While the mattress was able to be delivered Armen immediately went to work and had an additional crew show up to hoist the adjustable base over the bannister, where it was quickly installed. I don't know of many other salespeople who would take time to ensure the delivery was successful. Many salespeople's interest in their customer ends when they walk out of the showroom doors. However, Armen wanted me to be sure my needs were met. I also want to thank the delivery teams and Sit 'n Sleep's entire staff. The store obviously is focused on its customers and from the sales team to delivery staff, everyone was courteous. When looking for a new mattress, frame, or other items, stop by Sit 'n Sleep and ask for Armen. He will be sure you get the best deal possible, and only be satisfied when you are. read more

Another sit n sleep had pulled a bait and switch, check my Tarzana review for that story- but my mom got on the phone and worked out the deal with Armen and it literally took less than min and we were set- paid upon delivery, which was nice. Not super pleased with Sit N Sleep as a company, but in the end, after lots of mattress stores, this IS where I got my mattress. Also currently in the "breaking in" period and hoping it ends up feeling like what I fell in love with at the store. Not perfect yet, but my mom also followed up and was told that I'll love my mattress after sleeping on it for 2 weeks. It's been 1 week! Some mattresses seem to have a longer break-in time- I think Airelooms in particular have that problem. I'm hopeful. read more

I don't know what happened to my last review here, but I recently stopped by Sit N Sleep and have to talk about it. My mom calls me up and decides she is going to task me with finding her a new mattress. Why? Apparently, she tested mine one day when she dropped by my apartment and noticed a stark difference in comfort between hers and mine. Ok, I say. I go straight to Sit N Sleep, picked up one just like mine--or at least pretty similar. I told them about my mother's height and weight and asked if they could suggest a mattress that fits her a bit better. I was out of the door in like 15 minutes.
