I won't give this location less because i feel like it can do better. i attended this location on two different days: friday and saturday. i'll say friday was the worst, upstairs though. the bartenders are rude. the music is from the early 2000's nothing recent or enjoyable. i'll ask the bartender for a certain type of alcohol and she would say they don't have anymore... minutes later they would bring a new bottle. I'll ask for a cup of ice and she would charge the card. i stayed for a long time since that was the only thing open around the area i believe [not from boston on vacation]. on saturday the music was much better and the security at the front was nice enough to explain what type of music and better dj was in the house. the bartenders were ok! is it a place i'll recommend... sure! if everything else in the STATE was closed! read more

Honestly it's a fun place to dance. However the bouncers treat you like you're stupid. I told this bouncer several times that if he moved the fan it would benefit no one. It is broken and it turns to the ceiling. He told me he would kick me out if I complained one more time. I've been here twice for private parties in the upstairs room, and both times have been excellent. My first visit was very chill - just a bunch of my coworkers, drinks and tasty apps like buffalo chicken tenders, quesadillas, veggies with ranch and pepperoni pizza slices. Sissy K's has an amazing offer. If you have a group of 50+, all the food I mentioned is unlimited - and free. So I mentioned this deal to a Movember team I'm friends with, and they were able to throw their closing party for basically nothing. We got our own karaoke DJ, Dan, who is one of the best I've encountered in my long and storied history of subjecting people to Alannis Morissette, and two super attentive/cool bartendresses, Jess and Kristen. The buffalo chicken tenders were awesome. The gin and lemonades were awesome. Getting to sing 4 songs in two hours was awesome. An enthusiastic two thumbs up. read more

I don't ever leave reviews but I literally downloaded Yelp and created an account just for this. I ordered the chicken wings and lobster Mac and cheese from here. I was super excited because a lot of my friends go here and recommend these specific things all the time! Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed and to be honest pissed off when my order got here. The Mac and cheese was bland as ever, the sauce was broken and curdled. The lobster was overcooked and rubbery as hell. I tried to save it by adding my own salt and favorite seasoning but I couldn't get over the texture.....now for the wings.... They actually sent me soggy, burnt, bland tenders that were accidentally doused in honey mustard and tasted like it was fried in old grease . I asked for the sauce on the side and wings ? Stopped after freedom trail tour for a cold adult beverage before heading toward Fenway for the game. The house margarita was one of the best I've ever had. It was strong but not with over-powering tequila taste. It also had a very good blue salt on the glass rim. My wife had a peach margarita which she loved as well. I don't get the bad reviews. This is a small Irish Bar that's a fantastic haven for tired feet after hours of walking. We went on a Tuesday evening after dinner at Lowe's Wharf Seaside. G.R.O.S.S. This spot was totally disgusting. I felt like I was in a crappy college bar. First of all, there was a very creepy guy that was encroaching on us. Then, I thought the marines there were going to start a fight with the guy (which, to be honest, I was happy the marines were there). This spot should be on a college campus. The beer tasted funky (it was on tap), I'm not sure of the general cleanliness (things were a bit sticky). They gave us chips and salsa, which was a nice touch, but I wasn't sure if eating this would make me regret it later. If you are with your softball club and have a game in the area, maybe it's a stop, but overall, this bar is not very impressive and I'd skip it. p.s. First off, I love this place's energy. It's much more mature than the other bars in the area which is fantastic! You can notice that it is due to them having bachelorette parties there. Sissy ks isn't just a kareoke/dance floor bar to me. It's something I love. I could work my whole life without issue as long as there was sissy ks that I could go to on the weekends. The smell and the quality of the drinks are irrelevant, what's important is that I no longer have to choose between belting out some Backstreet Boys or slithering on a dance floor. I was here just once while visiting my buddy. I got there early during the free appetizers (which suck), but the cheaper than hell beer kept me there a while. I'm glad it did, because this place gets packed quick. You can't even move once the line forms at the door. Service was pretty decent. The only thing that pisses me off is that you can't leave to smoke. I went out to use the phone while my buddy smoked and they didn't want to let me back in. The door guy knew I was already in because i talked to him on the way out. He only let me back inbecause I said I left my tab open. I'll definitely be back. If you're looking for a hole in the wall with drinks, dancing, and a restroom, then you're in luck. Don't expect anything fancy and if you're here at night, it's going to be way crowded. Dancing is on second floor. We did a pub crawl and Sissy K's was one of the few places that was okay with us doing Jaeger Bombs. They give it to you in two different plastic cups (they said too many glass shotglasses had gotten broken). Sissy K's is a great last bar of the night stop. read more

Horrible. Spent a couple hours there, racked up a $300 tab. Very slow Monday. No one came in after us. Asked the server multiple times if we were holding up a table since they made it clear they did not want us there. Asked for the check and was given a roll of the eyes and "FINALLY" in return from across the bar. Continued to still tip 20% since we are in the industry, but that is not how you treat your customers. You want to complain behind closed doors, be my guest. I'm so conflicted about Sissy K's, but I guess at the end of the day, I love it for what it is: a cheap, casual place to have fun. It's one of the only places around Boston that has a dance floor (on the 2nd floor) that's open during the week nights, although the DJs are usually hit or miss. They have karaoke which is always fun since it always turns into a giant sing-along with strangers. I make new friends whenever I go, and it's a completely judgment free zone, which I appreciate. Again, it's not perfect, but its flaws are what make it so great and I love it just the way it is. read more

Honestly I came into this place by accident and as I was here I looked at the reviews and wanted to run out, but the time of night it was I thought I'd be lucky to find a place that didn't have a wait. So we decided to stay here and hope for the best. The service was good, but the food wasn't. Honestly it reminded me of a Swanson frozen tv dinner. Decent at very best. The place did have some huge highlights though in the drinks being made right, service and the dance area upstairs which made my night. This guy plays songs from the 70's 80's for people im their 20's and throws off the whole vibe. If they replace their DJ, this place would be great, until then, stay away unless you're 40+. We stopped here on a quest to find a restroom. On a Wednesday night they had trivia and karaoke going on which we won a $25 gift card for trivia (i think it was because our name was "Give me a prize" appetizers were buy 1, get one free, and the drinks were ok. The margaritas were $4 but way too sweet. What was interesting was upstairs they have a dance floor with a DJ and it actually got pretty packed for a Wednesday night. The place has two levels, bar and karaoke on the first level and the upstairs being night club like. On this night they had buy one get one free starters and $4 margaritas (frozen or on the rocks). I went with beer (about 6-8 on tap) and a peach frozen margarita (actually really good and they had about 5-7 different flavors on tap). Music was ok, good service, but the place was dead on this Sunday night. I will say however, if it's a poppin/party night in Boston, this would be my go to for this particular area/street. read more
