It's a department store like Macy's. For Dutch standards, high end brands. Lately, more store, in store than a real departement store. Check out their website for their most recent brands. Price level: high. But....good deals for people who join their loyality program via the Bijencard (through Mastercard). Early sales, extra savings and points for every euro you spent. Inside of outside the store. Their new strategy is to keep some signature stores with enough spaces and get rid of the smaller stores. So The Hague and Amsterdam definitely are keepers. And if you're from out of town, or out of the country check out the buildings. Mostly very nice architecture. In The Hague I love the winding staircase / escalator from the first to the second floor. Minus: - Plastic puppets spraying perfum and trying to sell the make up at the the entrance on the first floor; - It can be crowded, especially during sale (the Dol Dwaze Dagen / DDD, twice a year); - Expensive - Even for diamond members there is no free delivery during sale, and no option voor pick up; - I'm here only during my lunchbreak and mostly I've the feeling the all the staff is on a lunchbreak to. Except the plastic puppets on the entrance. Hard to get attention or the needed help. Plus: - good loyality program; - good sales; - besides the sales you can order stuff online and pick it up in the stores for free.

I swear, it's just a huge department type store, but again, there's just something about the newness of it to me that made it so great. For those of you from the states, to me, it reminded me a bit of a mix between a Target and a major department store. A bit of everything at affordable prices. We stopped in here a few times for a few things we needed on our trip and even once for a snack. I am a huge lover of smoked meats and cheese, so when we saw that we could get their famous smoked sausage on a roll for £2 and an ice cream sundae for £1 we were all about it and quite happy for it. One thing I miss living in the UK are smoked meats and sausages. Proper smoked meats and sausages. This really hit the spot. I was really tempted to buy stuff to bring back for my home in Glasgow, but figured it would be a pain to drag everything back when I could just get stuff once I got home if I wanted. Instead, I bought a really cool green ink pen for uni, some stroop waffles for the boyfriend and some candles for a birthday we were celebrating while in Amsterdam! It is a customer-friendly store with an unique profile. HEMA distinguishes itself from other retailers by selling its own brand. It even got to a point that HEMA became a fashion icon, with Dutch celebrities starting to wear basic t-shirts with nothing but the red HEMA line on it.. While living abroad, the HEMA is definitely absent in the German streets..How can people live without it??!! Im sure the Dutch cant... Anyways, great central location here at the shopping district in downtown Amsterdam. I there's two locations as well. I don't remember which one I went to. All I remember is that it's the bigger one of the two. The store was well lit. Everything was laid out really nicely. It didn't take long for me to find something that I liked. The dressing rooms were really nice as well. I bought a black shirt and light khaki pants. The colognes at the check out line also caught my eye. So I ended up buying one as well. You know,, the things people won't find in the states. I had a great experience shopping here and would definitely shop here again if given the chance. Thank you so much for reading my review. They actually have a variety of different lamp shades and the price is really inexpensive. As for the quality of some of the lampshades, it may be another story, but don't mind me I am just really selective. However they have a few unique items in here. Normally I pass right on by the shop, because it never struck me as a store with a lot of quality, it seem more on the cheap side. However I was really surprise to see some really nice mirrors in here. I would say this shop is more ideal for accessories.

They sell clothing for both men and woman but their woman's section is a lot larger. When you search well you can actually find some really nice stuff for a good price at this place. Last week I saw several King Louie dresses priced for 20 euros and even stuff by Escada and Kenzo for quite cheap. What I think is weird about the place is that everything is in the same price range, not much difference if something is by H&m, C&A, King Louie or Kenzo. And I would never pay 20 euros for a second-hand H&M dress, but for a pretty King Louie dress I might. So the prices are a bit odd. This place is nice to check out every once in a while but since it is a bit out of the city centre it might be a bit far if you're living in west or something and I don't think its really worth a long bike ride.
