Four of us went for dinner after we reviewed the positive ratings at Sirene, and I liked it when the restaurant was inhabited by Sisters. We ordered cocktails all around that were delicious. We ordered crudités, which consisted of 6 small-cut vegetables on a bed of crushed ice, Parisian-style. Although the dipping was very good, we felt it was ridiculously small for $15 - I mean, that is a huge margin for tiny pieces of vegetables. We also shared 12 oysters and the chicory salad, which were excellent. For our main, we all shared the fish and chips, steelhead, and mussels. Except for the fish and chips, they were all well-executed, with complex flavors. The fish in the fish and chips were way too greasy. We did mopped up every bit of sauce of the other dishes with the toasted levin. For dessert, we ordered the lemon custard and the chocolate cake - both were gobbled up. The back patio is where I wanted to be with the string lights and plants all around. But any seat in the house is just as romantic. We came for my husbands birthday and we're not disappointed! It was the first time my husband and I dined here and we enjoyed the meal and ambiance. We are retired and dined in the main dining area which we definitely preferred over the high top tables in the other section. We needed help figuring how much to order and the staff were very helpful in their suggestions. My husband enjoyed his cocktail. I had the chartreuse slushy which was fun to drink but was so filling and large. I had planned to have a glass of wine with dinner but the slushy was only half finished by that point and I didn't want to waste not drinking it. Our wait staff, Elyssa, was amazing. She was attentive and knowledgeable and fun. The smoked fish appetizer with the homemade potato chips was amazing. We ordered a side of bread and it was so good and the butter was absolutely fantastic. Our main course was fried chicken.It comes with a sauce and I really don't understand why we need a sauce It was delicious without it. There was a slight hiccup in our meal, and the manager David went way over and beyond to compensate for it. He really didn't need to do everything that he did. But it certainly made us wanna come back. If I were to have any criticism, it would just be that the noise level is pretty high. It's sad to say this but I was extremely DISAPPOINTED with my experience here last night. Like many others, my friends and I heard about the restaurant and was looking forward to an enjoyable night filled with amazing food, laughter and great vibes to celebrate a very special birthday. Instead, we were met with a lack luster customer service, uncomfortable seating, and over priced food that had no business being there with how the food was prepared and executed. There is much to say but I'm gonna keep it to a minimal of what lead me to the rating that I'm giving. 1. Service was unprofessional, lacked empathy, awareness, and attentiveness. We arrived at 7:45pm for or reservation and was not seated until 30+ minutes after. Why was the table for a party like this not already prepared in anticipation and no explanation whatsoever? 2. Food was overpriced for what was prepared and served $5S steak was chewy and wait time was staggering. $60 Fried Chicken lacked seasoning big time. $16 Fried Anchovies tasted dirty. These were 'recommended' as top sellers and I cannot agree whatsoever after tasting them. 3. Confusing communication from staff. We were asked "Would you like bread for the table?" with no indication that it to be charged and not complimentary. Bread. Just assumed due to how staggering the wait time was for simple starters that bread was being offered. NOPE. We were charged $7 for the table. We were asked if we wanted more immediately and thankfully we declined since we were waiting for more food to come. Just felt dishonest and distrustful in the way it was offered. Why would you not ask if we would like to 'order' but instead just 'want' bread? 4. Barely checked on our table the entire night to see if our food was to our liking or seeing if we needed any requests, considering we had a birthday celebrant in the building. Not only that but no accommodations for the birthday besides topping off a dessert with a candle that immediately blew out right away upon arrival to the table. We ordered the chocolate cake and it was horrendous. No complimentary dessert and we paid in full. $14 btw. Horrible idea. 5. Seating was strange and uncomfortable. With how the window seats were laid out, one side faces into the restaurant while the other has it's back towards the streets. Chilly cold night, the smell of weed as people pass by, loud profanity, and revving engines were the sounds and smell of the streets. Uncomfortable and unsettling to be seated there. I've seen the other reviews and lots of key points are matching up. This place needs work in every department imaginable. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone in it's current state and not sure if I can consider returning after feeling like I've been literally robbed. Party of 6. Ambience is loud, which is fine, except the server whispered menu item recommendations to us without ever pointing to it for us to help us decipher her clues. And then gets annoyed when asked to repeat. This is great place for date night. It can be a bit expensive if you go for a full meals with appetizers and drinks but the quality and service are excellent. Favorites are the crudo (lobster or halibut), the black cod, and the gnocchi. The chicken is solid as well. My partner has the mussels and those were pretty good, but definitely pretty salty. I had the albacore tuna and it honestly was probably one of the worst dishes I've ever had at a sit down restaurant. It was bland, hard tuna swimming in a flavorless pool of beans. I ate here for the first time with a group of 6 people last week and had a delicious meal that we ate family-style. We sat on the back patio, which had greenery from plants growing through it and wooden booths. The waitstaff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, which was especially helpful for the variety of allergies at the table. The entire menu looks incredible, so I'm glad that the organizers of our group have been here multiple times before so they directed us on how to order. I'll start with the two drinks I tried: - Chartreuse Slushy - would absolutely get again, a smooth, towering slushy with a convenient little straw/scooper for you to eat it. - Meshkalina punch - pisco. apricot. citrus shrub . cava. I liked this even better than the slushy--that citrus shrub paired with the pisco and apricot was so refreshing. Food: - Captain's Platter aka a seafood tower of fresh oceany goodness with oysters, uni, scallops, tuna (which was so good we ordered another plate of just the tuna), and shrimp. The octopus kimchi sauce was my favorite topper for the oysters--so good! - momotaro tomato. melon. crispy shallot. Our table went wild for this--there's this gazpacho sauce on the bottom that was smoky and had so much umami. Honestly my favorite dish of the evening and a dish I did not know I needed in my life! I wanted to eat that sauce on everything. - cherry tomatoes. lemongrass. rau ram. This was also delicious, but less memorable than the other tomato dish for me so it got a little lost in everything else I tried -tuna mussel vinaigrette, peach (on the menu it said halibut, but they had tuna that evening). This was also one of my favorites of the evening--there's combination of those sweet but still a little crunchy peaches with the tuna and the umami of the mussel vinaigrette was such a balanced, delicious bite! - crudité with ranch caviar - can't go wrong with fresh, crunchy vegetables and ranch caviar! - abalone. chili butter. I had never had abalone before and I am so glad this was my first experience because it was so chewy but tender, so savory, just incredible. - lobster mushroom porridge. comte. This was texturally delicious, but flavor-wise, it maybe needed some salt/felt like it was missing something. Lobster mushrooms are a pretty mild flavor, so it may have just gotten lost with all the other flavors we were eating. We solved this by eating it with some of the mind-blowing sauce from the tomato dish. - gnocchi parisienne .zucchini. corn. This was a really tasty dish, I particularly loved the corn and zucchini. It felt very apt for the end of summer! - mussels. anchovy. leeks. toasted levain. Sooo good, could have dipped so much of that delicious bread in the juices from this dish. - scallion cheddar biscuits - give me a million of these! - choose your own adventure fried chicken. I'm pescatarian so I didn't eat this, but I did try the mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, and the collards which were all delightful! - fish & chips. I'll be real here, it was the end of the night, close to closing, and while the fish was perfectly crisp and juicy and absolutely delicious, the fries were dry, brittle, no substance, no flavor. After a massive meal where this was the last thing we ate, it was no big deal for us, but we did mention it when the waitstaff asked if we wanted a box for the barely eaten fries. She came back later to let us know the manager took the dish off the bill which was very kind and unexpected! In terms of pricing--I wasn't paying attention because the food was on my friend's parents' dime for his birthday, so I just paid for my drinks. Looking back at the menu, I'd say it's pretty standard and reasonable pricing for the quality of the food and experience! I would absolutely come back here and try all the things we didn't get a chance to taste or come back and do a repeat of some of the highlights! Let's just quickly get to it. I had problems with the service and the price to food quality ratio. For the entire evening last night, unless we has asked for service... it was inattentive at best. Rarely were we checked in on from the moment that we got to the restaurant and until we left. Second, I would like clear communication from the servers. Instead of, "would you like some bread" and then find out it was $7, could have just let us know that we're buying it. I don't mind us paying for food, what I mind is how it was communicated. I dont care if the intention wasn't to be dishonest, but that felt dishonest as hell and left a sour taste. Speaking of sour taste, what was up with the inconsistency of flavors? Seemed like some of the chicken was brined and others weren't. But you know what really set the tone for me? When a dozen oysters come at 5 dollars a pop, I ain't about that life. Loved (most of) the food, but there were weird quirks that we encountered that feel like they need to be worked out around service. I'll also echo what someone else noted: the prices online are a couple of dollars cheaper than in person, so just be prepared (for instance, the petrale sole is $55 online, and $65 in person). We started with ordering some wine and they were kind enough to let us try several different wines before choosing our glasses. After some recommendations from our server, we settled on the following: *Duck and lobster mortadella - while neither my friend nor I liked this, that's not to say it was bad; we were curious to try it, but just not something we'd order again. *Oxtail terrine - really liked this! I loved the peas in there. *Oysters - delicious. *Dumpling with lamb and uni - This was delicious. However, my friend did say 'did I really just pay $7 for ONE dumpling?'. And I'd agree, it feels weird to order one dumpling. It's just a weird perception thing and I'd optically prefer to see their menu say 'dumplings' and have it be 3 of them for $20. Just feels weird - who orders just one dumpling? *Mussels - this was tasty and I liked the spice of the soup. *Fried chicken and mashed potatoes - this is where we get into weird quirks. Both my friend and I like dark meat, so we asked if it was possible to request dark meat. The server explained that for the quarter chicken, it would be all dark meat, where-as the half chicken would be split. We told her that was great, that we wanted to get the quarter and that would be perfect as it would all be dark meat per her. So we were a little confused when one piece was white meat. We called her over and asked, and she told us that they can't put in requests and that sometimes the kitchen mixes it up. Really odd and confusing. if you can't take requests, tell us that; don't tell us that the quarter will be dark meat and then make excuses around why it's not. Some other quirks came up with our service as well. My friend ordered a second glass of wine (a different wine than her first), and the waitress brought a bottle out and simply poured it into her existing glass. For a place at this price point, we expected a new glass to be brought out. And then while they were clearing plates, a waiter poured me water in my glass, while my friend poured herself water, and the waiter made some weird comment about tipping her out at the end of the night - it just didn't come off as funny when she was trying to be nice and help. Would I come back here for the food? Absolutely. Their menu and food is delicious and I want to come back and try so many more things! However, the service quirks were odd. Also, for next time and others: I'd request to sit in the main dining room as the high top tables in the narrow walkway are really uncomfortable. read more

New seafood forward restaurant in the lovely grand lake neighborhood. Surprised at how large the space was with plenty of seating. We ordered the seafood tower, crab salad, dumpling, gnocchi, duck/lobster mortadella, and buckwheat donuts for dessert. The highlights for me were the dumpling which was rich in flavor and the duck/lobster mortadella which was unique and reminded me more of a pate. The donuts were also a delight and had such a nice savory nutty flavor to it which balanced out the sweet anglaise. Highly recommend this for friends or a date night. We live nearby and have been a number of times. Service can be hit or miss. Once, we waited over 40 minutes for the main to arrive after the appetizers. There was no apology from the waitress. On other occasions, there have been unforced errors that made the dining experience unpleasant, for example, not bringing a spoon to scoop out uni, which made it very difficult to eat. But on other occasions, we've had good service as walk-ins at the bar. Food is often really good, but there have been dishes that don't live up to the hype. The fish charcuterie is inventive, but not to my taste. The uni lamb dumpling is delicious but overpriced (8 for a single dumpling now?). The buttermilk fried chicken has an odd sweetness to it. And the burger at lunch time manages to be greasy but the meat somehow tastes tough, and it's in serious need of some acid to cut the raclette. The donuts and chocolate cake are consistent winners. Prices have soared since they first opened. For reference, in Feb 2025 the chicken was 18/30/50 for a quarter/half/whole bird. As of late Nov 2025, it's now 25/40/65. Obviously it's expensive to run a restaurant and inflation is real, but it's gotten to the point where the quality and experience does not match the price tag. read more

I've been hearing about this place, so finally took myself out on a a Tuesday night. It was busy and buzzing. I sat at the bar. I love how they have house wine on tap. I had white which was tasty & ordered the muscles. The flavor was delicious although the muscles themselves were a little skimpy. (considering this is a seafood restaurant, they should have better quality muscles), I like how they serve them with a couple fingerling potatoes, and some really good sourdough bread. A few friends and I were able to snag a table for 6 easily during a weekday without reservations so that was an automatic win for us. After getting seated, our waitress kindly answered all of our questions and made a few recommendations based on our group size. We followed her lead and loved everything we ordered, but the absolute stand outs for us in order of our favorites was the bread, gnocchi, butter lettuce, and mussels. I'm a carb girl, so I almost always love bread, but there was something extra special about theirs. My entire group agreed that it was hard to put down. We tried to only nibble at it to save our appetite for the main courses, but quickly inhaled the pillowy dough and agreed it was a highlight.
