I came here because many of the other bakeries were closed during the fall holidays season. First I got a potato knish for myself which they popped in the microwave for me. It was very bland, how could you mess up and underseason a knish? I also got cupcakes and a variety of cookies. The frosting in the cupcakes was good, it tasted homemade at least. Absolutely GREAT bakery. Needed some colorful desserts for a birthday party and couldn't find any bakery open on the weekend in my area. I found this bakery via search engine and so glad I did! They are open until 2pm on Saturdays and had some delicious items. I was attending a Boho Chic party where guests were assigned a color and had to bring items to share that were that color. My color was orange. I picked up the macaroons that were made in the image of a cheeseburger. OH SO GOOD! I also grabbed some sugar cookies in the shape of apples which were sweet but not too sweet and soft and flavorful. They were perfect. I grabbed a lemon danish that we terrific but I ate it so quick I forgot to get a photo. Would definitely recommend for sure. They had a wide variety of items and also the gentleman who helped me was super nice! He seemed to really care about making sure I was satisfied with my items and the prices were very reasonable. The bakery is located in a shopping center with plenty of free surface parking in the front and rear of the building. Give them a try! Delicious food, very clean and great service. read more

I contacted Sions Bakery several months before my daughters' wedding, to order her wedding cake. I had a preliminary conversation with Mr. Sion, who gave me pricing and reassurances that he was capable of creating the wedding cake I described. He requested that I send in a photo(s) of what I had in mind, which I did. Since I was a new customer, I asked if he could provide me with a few sample pieces of cake (which I was prepared to pay for) to try out. We arranged the day and time at which my daughter (the bride) would pick up the samples. She showed up on time, and Mr. Sion was completely unprepared, yelled at her that he didn't know why she was there, and told her she was going to have to wait 30 minutes for her slices to be ready! This was an unacceptable way to treat any customer, let alone a bride-to-be. Then, when my daughter called him, after we had tasted the slices, to try to place her order, Mr. Sion rudely told her that she needed to phone him back in one month, after the High Holidays were over, because he couldn't deal with her then. Whenever she would call, anyone who answered the phone would have no knowledge of who she was, or what she wanted and she would need to start all over again explaining what she wanted to order! Finally the day came to pick up the wedding cake and it was all wrong. They did not follow the photo which my daughter had provided for the decoration, nor any of the instructions for the cake, which they had assured us beforehand they would take care of. They decided at the last minute to spray paint some flowers on the top of the cake, a garish blue, which looked like a 5 year old had done it. The whole cake was a disaster and my daughter and her soon-to-be husband, were embarrassed by it and therefore missed any photo opportunities with their wedding cake. Not only was the cake a huge disappointment, but the less than professional nor competent treatment we experienced led me to leave this review, in the hopes that it will save a future customer the aggravation we experienced. read more

This bakery is about average for a Maryland bakery. Being from NJ/NY we are hard critics. We ordered the black and white cookie which was small and on the harder side (usually these are about 5 inches in diameter and are a soft cookie). We also has a blueberry danish which was was really good and a chocolate iced cupcake which was average. The challah loaf was soft but did not have that glistening crust. Overall it was a good experience with decent baked goods but not worth a trip out of the way. read more

I found out online about this bakery and ordered a Black Forest cake. My order was ready on time. The prices are very reasonable and the taste was really good and you can feel it was made fresh. I love to find and support "mom-and-pops". I will definitely order again. The bakery offers kosher products and from the name Sion, it is possible that the owner might be from Jerusalem though I am not sure. Very decent and humble old man that checked me out. read more

I have been to Sion bakery about every 2 weeks and I give them a 2 thumbs up-- and a 5 star rate. I have bought a number of their products and every item was delicious...eg. Rainbow cake, chocolate cake, Boston cram cake, a variety of buns with fruit inside them, donuts, and many types of cookies. The bakery is kosher and the all items is pareve. Simply the best. I've been shopping there for years and have never been disappointed. The staff is savvy, friendly and helpful. Recently I needed a cake for a memorial gathering for my best friend. I didn't call on Friday until they had closed. Closed Saturday, of course, so first thing on Sunday I called to see if by chance they had a German Chocolate cake. They didn't, but by God offered to bake one for me that day. It was, as always, delicious. Kosher is not a concern of mine. Flavor and service are, and Sion's has both in abundance. Not only is this Bakery one of the best around but the gentleman who owns it is a true mensch. I went there with a mere $7 in desperate need of a cake and he sold me a cake which was absolutely worth twice as much but because I had limited funds he gave it to me anyway for the 7. Stopped in today, asked to have a birthday cake decorated & if it would keep in refrigerator until Monday. He wrote in purple, over the flowers, & very sloppily. . I asked for pink, he refused to correct anything and said the cake would "probably be ok" for Monday. No other customers were in line. Very disappointed, would not recommend. read more

This is a parve kosher bakery. They did our wedding cake, and people that don't even keep kosher still comment after 2 years that it was one of the best cakes they've ever had (and it really was), and how beautiful it was. Sion worked with us to create the perfect cake - it was truly beautiful! A piece of art. He also worked with me to create a "groom's cake" for my husband, which was perfect. His other desserts and challahs are excellent! If you talk with him, he really can create pretty much anything you want. He's the sweetest man and eager to please; he runs an excellent business and makes fantastic desserts. read more

Awesome little bakery. The staff is very friendly and willing to go the extra mile. Not only do the products taste better than other kosher bakeries in town, but their pastries are better than even most non-kosher places. Their wedding cakes look amazing and taste second to none.
