I originally visited doctor singleton for a second opinion after another dentist told me I needed a crown. Dr singleton took a more conservative approach and was able to treat my tooth with a filling instead, saving me from a more extensive procedure. The entire office is incredibly caring from the front desk to the hygienists and assistants. They even sent me a hand written letter after my first visit and followed up after my procedures to make sure I was doing well. It's those thoughtful touches that really set singleton smiles apart. Since then, I've returned for my wisdom teeth and to repair a chip in my front tooth, and every experience has been excellent. I love coming to Dr Singleton's office. My whole life I've been afraid of going to the dentist until I started coming here. The staff is very friendly. They greet you by name when you walk in the door. The dental hygienist does not make you feel like you're doing something wrong every time you see them. They are gentle and caring while they're working on you. Dr Singleton takes the time to see every patient when they come in. He's always got a smile on his face and he's always called me by name. We left for Texas for a couple of years and came back and he still knew me by name. I choose to go to him even though he's out of net work because I love coming to this office so much. My husband came here for dental services for just over a year. In that time, he had two rather traumatic experiences here. 1- They filled four cavities for him at one time and immediately after took a mold of his mouth. He said having his mouth open for so long to take care of four cavities in a row hurt him, but what hurt the most was that after they did the work on the cavities they took a mold of his mouth pressing down on the sensitive teeth that were just filled/worked on. 2- After this experience, he again needed a cavity taken care of. It was a deep cavity, yet the dentist decided to take a laser to it, which is usually used for cavities that aren't very deep. The reason why Dr. Singleton went after the cavity with the laser is because the assistant numbed the wrong area of his mouth to begin with. The laser started to hurt my husband, so then the dentist had him numbed again - this time in the correct area - to take care of the cavity. After this last time he was there, we decided to have him start going to a different dentist. These are the kinds of experiences that cause fear of going to the dentist. These are also the kinds of experiences that really make you question the skills of both the dentist and the technicians. Both times my husband had work done here, he had painful experiences that could have very easily been avoided with minimal brain power. I'm not sure how a dental clinic can even stay operating, making these careless errors. We question Dr. Singleton's work, knowledge, and skills. We will not be back. read more

Be careful of any dentist that says you need to replace your old silver fillings with the new white filling. 20 years ago he took out 3 of my silver fillings using a weird sand blast tool that left sand in my mouth for days. It cost me $350 out of pocket for that experience. I switched dentists right after that and my new dentist said there is almost no medical reason to remove silver fillings. All 3 of those teeth he "fixed" subsequently needed root canals! read more

I've been coming here since 2007 and I WILL NOT go to anyone else as long as he's around. You build a trust relationship - I'm serious I was EXTREMELY fearful. Terrible care by a terrible person. I witnessed Dr. Singleton over-sedate a child because he was getting impatient to start the procedure, then yell at the mother out of his own pure frustration. He consistently runs behind schedule, and fails to apologize or correct his poor dental work. I can't tell you the number of Saline locals that have had crowns/fillings fall out from this office, yet he charges more than more reliable dentists for the same work. I saw Dr. Singleton after my tooth broke. He told me he would "very gently" remove it, and if the bone cracked, He would have to do a bone graft. He should have referred me to an oral surgeon. Unfortunately I didn't know any better and allowed him to do it. He had to stand up forcefully pulling out the tooth AND bone, and do a bone graft, which failed. I had pain, bruising, and swelling well over a week. I was left with a huge hole and a fake tooth that went well above my gum line. After the bone was supposed to grow for 6 mo.s, I saw an oral surgeon to fix it. He said it was so bad he would have to sent me to a specialist, who could also do soft tissue grafting. The specialist diagnosed me with severe bony atrophy, a 5 mm cleft, and a lack of gingiva on the buccal, meaning not only do I have to have another surgery, but will have to have bone taken out of my jaw, and soft tissue taken off of my palate to fix it properly. This is very painful, time consuming, and expensive. So I sent a letter of explanation to Dr. Singleton asking for him to reimburse me and send the specialist and I the X-rays. He sent old X-rays I had given him, but did not send X-rays from the day of the procedure. He stated he was not financially responsible. These are the facts. read more

A lot of his work is shoddy and he employs a lot of dental quackery that most reputable dentists won't even recommend (ceramic inlays, etc). All of his filling material is weak and will break within a few weeks. All you need to know is that most dentists around Southeastern Michigan know of him and his work, and that's not a good thing. I cannot recommend Dr. Singleton. At my first appointment with him three years ago, he immediately noticed a "cavity", and said that he needed to drill/fill it. I was suspicious, as I had never had a cavity in my life, and I had a dental cleaning by another dentist in the area 3 months prior, who said my teeth were great (this dentist also did x-rays). Further, my usual hometown dentist that I had for 20 years prior to me moving to Ann Arbor, who had always given me dental x-rays every year, never reported any problems. I figured, maybe this guy is so good, that he noticed something that nobody else did, so I took his word, and let him do the procedure. Fast forward to less than two years later, and at the next set of x-rays, he says I have another cavity again! At this point, I didn't believe him; how could a person who took extremely good care of their teeth, who never had a cavity in their life, who had received good reports from other dentists for over two decades, all of a sudden be developing cavities left and right? I asked for my x-rays, and Dr. Singleton gladly gave them. He pointed out the area of concern to me on the x-ray. I sent the X-rays to three different dentists (two were close friends who had just graduated dental school and were training to become orthodontists, one of them was a dentist who had been in practice for 40 years). ALL of them said that my x-rays were completely normal, without any question. All three spent extra time searching every centimeter for any abnormality; none of them could find anything. I left his practice after that. I read two other reviews that said similar things. If you can avoid getting any procedures done (ie only coming in for dental cleaning), his office is an all star place to be. They have the nicest staff, high end equipment, and they are very thorough in their work when it comes to dental cleaning. The only problem is, you will have to confront issues like this (him saying you need a procedure) even if you try to avoid them. read more

I have been going to Dr. Singleton for years and I have nothing but good things to say. The staff is always extremely friendly and Dr. Singleton is very skilled in his practice. He is a perfectionist and takes the time to make teeth look immaculate. I recently went in for a routine cleaning and he noticed my two front teeth were a little uneven as a result of me grinding my teeth in the past. Dr. Singleton proceeded to spend about 15 minutes "shaving" my teeth down to make them look perfect. Not only is he meticulous and talented, but he is an extremely nice man as well. He remembers my family and I, and he always asks about how school is going for me. It feels great to know that my dentist cares about his clients and values building relationships with people. Very bad experience. General feeling is that Dr. Singleton does not care about the patient but only cares about patients' pockets. I am not impressed with his technical skill either. I went to get a filling done by him but the crown of the tooth came off. He did one of his same-day crown for me before taking care of the cavity. I ended up with terrible pain for days and had to go to someone else to take care the cavity and ended up having to get another crown. read more

I spend the whole night crying due to terrible tooth pain. I left a message for Dr. Singleton on his emergency hotline at 5:30am. He called me back at 6:00am and was nice enough to meet me at his practice at 6:30am and not even charge me extra for the emergency visit!! My tooth was dead and infected, and I needed a root canal. I explained to him that I was a recent grad with no money, no credit, and no dental insurance. Dr. Singleton and his staff worked with me on making sure to get me approved for a 12 month, 0% interest, payment plan. Dr. Singleton also gave me the lowest price compared to all of the places I called. Everyone at his practice is extremely friendly and welcoming. His assistant was also very engaging and made me feel comfortable. All of my friends told me how painful root canals are, and I honestly did not feel anything. I was actually shocked when he told me the root canal portion of the procedure was all done. They even took the time to call me back the next day to make sure that everything was going well, and send me a postcard at home! I can honestly say with confidence that I have found a dentist for as long as my family and I continue to live within reachable distance of the Saline area. read more
