She does not only do the major dental work, but insists on doing all the work; including routine cleanings. This provides a close one-on-one relationship that no other dentist in the area can boast. She makes you feel like you are her only patient, uses up to date methods and equipment, and is an adjunct professor at U of M to boot. She successfully treated me for chronic pain, airway issues, and ENT issues with her expertise and skill. Beyond that, I left town shortly after starting treatment, and she and all of her staff provided extremely kind customer service and support from a distance. The work she does typically can't be done virtually, and everyone knows dental work can be painful and difficult. She is not just a dentist. Her work and consult has helped remedy my complex, lifelong medical issues. By not being local, I completely disrupted her treatment protocol and process. With a less skilled dentist this could have been bad. But, she did such a good job with understanding my case and designing a custom oral treatment device that I was able to get through it on my own from a distance. Meanwhile, the whole office was helpful and accommodating. In cases like mine, the work she does is life saving and always life changing. I wish I could transport her and the entire office out west. The procedure itself was terrible. There were no discussions about my comfort. I usually have just nitrous for fillings because I don't like shots. She was ready to dive in when I pointed out that I asked for nitrous. Then I got some nitrous. But there was no further discussion or questions about my comfort so you can imagine how I almost came out the chair when she got to drilling on the nerve. And that's just one example of the lack of due diligence and meticulous care I expect from a doctor.

This afternoon I received a call from them telling me there was a problem with my x-rays. I had my x-rays sent to them months ago, before I even finalized the appointment. Evidently they didn't bother to even check the x-rays until literally the very last day, which means they were surely unprepared despite having had several months time. They then offered to install the braces anyways, but that they wouldn't take responsibility if something went wrong due to them not having x-rays. Obviously I found this unacceptable, since it was their responsibility to make sure everything was ready ahead of time, not mine. And their reaction was even worse - offering to let me take on improper risk due to their failure to prepare. They also offered to do Invisalign, even though it was determined early on that Invisalign wasn't right for me. Overall, I felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman - someone that would say anything to get money out of me. I thought there were certain standards for health professionals. Needless to say, I was dissatisfied with all of this and complained. You know how they reacted? After the call with me, they called up my dentist and said negative things to them about me, behind my back (my dentist called me immediately to let me know). Totally unacceptable, unprofessional, petty behavior. Frankly I'm disgusted by their actions. I am still going to get my teeth straightened, but definitely not here!

I was a patient of Julie's from 2008-2009 and during that time she did 13 fillings for me. I loved…read moreher staff and her, her service was great, but I feel the need to write a review after a serious error on her part. All 13 of the fillings she did have been replaced from 2012 - now. I've been to 2 dentists who both couldn't believe the job she had done. 2 of the fillings broke out when I was flossing, while the rest have either left gaps where food gets stuck and leaves me with irritated gums or they're so sharp, I constantly break floss. In fact, my husband was a patient of hers as well and his fillings she did are all being replaced. I should also mention she charged me $500 for a service that is normally free at other dentist offices. She's very sweet, but the initial fillings costed us time and money and replacing them has not been cheap or a great experience. I feel bad for referring my mother who had a very expensive bridge done by her that was replaced less than 4 years later (her bridge before lasted 20 years). I cannot in good conscience recommend her to anyone, which is a shame, because I really liked her.

I was confident that Dr. Cousino was turning her care over to a very capable successor. Dr. Jay seamlessly took over her care. His extensive knowledge was impressive. He has a no-nonsense approach, which I appreciate. He was honest about what needed to be done, whether it was difficult news or not. Dr. Jay was very involved in communication with her dentist and with oral surgery to well-manage the detailed plan to fix my daughter's teeth. Although she required braces, several surgeries and then braces again, he was always upfront about it being a long process. He didn't sugar-coat time estimates that would have gotten my daughter excited. He was forthcoming, extremely knowledgeable and took the time to get things right. His staff always did a great job and were really friendly. He always ran on time. My daughter's teeth look great. Dr. Jay did a fantastic job and I would absolutely recommend him. He won't steer you wrong or just tell you what you want to hear. He'll do things well without shortcuts. Side note-I'm an RN working for a major hospital. My inpatient unit includes Oral-Maxillofacial patients.
