Maintenance initially where we asked them to look over everything. After we also go our front brakes and oil done the brakes were making noise. We went back and allegedly the rear brakes needed to be done. We would've done same day had we known. 1 Mos later, a huge puddle of oil was under the car. They own a tow service and came to get the car. They discovered a recall issue and proceeded to charge $300for the row and $375 for the repair. When I called thr manager owner to ask why all these issues weren't found initially, he began yelling and wouldn't let me interject. ​I apid the bill after telling him he couldn't talk to me that way and terminating the conversation. Had a family members car have issues with weights falling out of tire and causing a fire in the brake caliper and rotor due to heat from metal grinding. Went in to talk to them showed pictures of the issue and told me in 30 years they have never seen this. I put weights in his hands and still was told there was no room for them to go into wheel but it's funny you can put a screwdriver between rotor and caliper. Don't walk run away from these people who won't admit they were wrong about this but I guess when you go in calm they tell your relative that you had an attitude but yet another lie!!!! I do not have time to leave reviews so let this speak for itself. I paid $500 for them to tell me I have an issue with my car (there is an issue with my head gasket). I already phoned a friend in march and they told me it was the main gasket. So I took my car to this shop to get the issue fixed. They did not fix anything- so it is $500 to diagnose a problem here. As we looked around for tires people wanted almost double what they where asking and the times to order them wasn't good this place had them at the warehouse, two days and boom tires on. Do not recommend bringing car here if you want it returned as good as you left it. Damaged 3 wheels when mounting/balancing tires. Damaged paint when removing old weights. Technicians removed clearcoat and wheel paint by roughing up wheel surface prior to applying new weights so that they would "stick better." Have had this done many times elsewhere and never before has anyone marred the wheel's finish to ensure the weights stick - totally unnecessary and will be even more obvious when these weights are removed for next tire install/balance. Owner was not completely forthcoming in accepting responsibility - had to wait over an hour and a half just to show him the damage. Considering that they specialize in tire install, I expected more attentiveness and care. Your mileage may vary. read more

My brakes failed while I was driving after taking it to them for repair. My wife and her family have been going here a lot longer. Brian is the master mechanic. Mike is a great assistant too. They are much cheaper than the dealer. If you are looking for a great car repair place that has much lower prices than the dealer go here. The only reason I cannot give Singer Auto 5 stars is that they are an American Car Care Center and I recently had a terrible experience with another ACCC shop. I filed a complaint on their website about the shop in question and was ignored. I have visited Singer Auto on several occasions and they have been nothing short of absolutely professional. They have repaired a few different tires on my cars in the past and would not charge me. I always felt guilty to take the technicians time and would tip them $10 for their time. I recently came home from a trip with a flat tire. I took it to Singer and the tire was unable to be repaired. I had a new tire put on my VW and was out of the shop in 30 minutes. By the time I had read all of my mail from a week long trip, my vehicle was done. If you are shopping for tires or service in Harford County, give these guys a call. They are very honest and reliable. I am unwilling to say that about other ACCC shops. read more

I visited this location today. I was referred here by "Western Autos" on Pulaski Highway. I must be honest after reading reviews I was skeptical on going to this place of business, but I'm 100% happy I did. When I arrived I was greeted by a gentleman at the desk (sorry I didn't get his name) he addressed my concerns right away about replacing my two headlights & was able to give me a price on the job/labor before my car was even serviced. While waiting on my vehicle to be serviced I sat in a very nice and clean waiting area while watching cable television. There was no wait when I got to this establishment thank God for that. I was literally in and out in about 45mins. I am truly happy with my experience at Singer Auto Center and I would most definitely return here in the future. Next time I would probably make an appointment though so I know for sure they will be able to work on my vehicle. I can not say enough GREAT things about this place. Me and my family were on our way home from a week at Disney world, when we got a blow out on the side of the road at 3am! What was at first a horrible situation became not so bad and I guess god was on our side by having us break down 9 minutes away from stinger tire repair! We were able to drive the slowly to the shop and wait out front, as they didn't open until 8am! The owner pulled up at 7:45. He got everything up and running and had the doors open by 8am sharp! When my husband told him our situation and that we had an 8 month old and a 4 year old, he did all he could to make the process effortless and smooth. He did not try to tell us more was wrong with the car, or even try and get any more money out of us! He was extremely reasonable, and realistically he could have told us any price at this time as we were extremely vulnerable and left with no other choice or options, because at this point the tire was on the rim! The waiting area and bathrooms were immaculate!!! They offered coffee with a variety of k-cups and even had a easel dry erase board to keep our 4 year old busy! It may not seem important to some people, but this shows that this shop really pays attention to detail and really does care about their customers!! The garage area was just as clean and pristine as the waiting area, and even though it was pretty busy, it was not at all chaotic it was so smoothly ran!! If you are looking for an honest mechanic shop that is efficient, reasonable, and cares about their coustmers then look no further!! Remember the movie Vacation, when Sparky needs the family truckster fixed? e asks the mechanic (also the sheriff) how much it'll cost, and the guy - holding a crowbar - says, "how much you got?" Just remember that. Example, they failed my inspection. I needed two stickers off my window. This would (and later did) take me less than a minute with a razor blade. Their charge: $18. I went in for an oil change and came out with a leak all of the sudden. I took my Toyota SUV back and they told me that my rear oil seal was leaking? I've owned Toyotas all my life and never have experienced a leak. So, I asked what the cost would be to fix the leak and their response was $2800 to $3000 bucks!!! I decided to go to another shop and discovered that the leak was an oil filter relocation hose which costs $12 DOLLARS! I wonder how many other people have been ripped off??? read more

Was quoted for a job to take about 3 hours. After not receiving any updates after 5 and half hours later I was told they were still working on it and that they were opened till 6pm. At 540pm there still was no call from them. I show up at the shop and was rudely told by the owner the job wasn't done and the truck was in pieces. I was basically screwed and they kept the truck overnight without giving me any warning. The truck was not done until 1pm the next day. The owner did not want to tell me what took so long and told me to never come back. I was only having off road lights wired. I feel like they were hiding something but the jerk owner didn't even want to explain any reasoning to me. On top of that the trucks service park break light was on after their install. Took me 10 minutes to see that they disconnected the parking break under the dash and didnt even check it before giving me the truck back. I have had my vehicles serviced at Singer for the past 5 years and have been very pleased with the service until the past 12 months. Problems were identified upon the initial visit and repaired at a reasonable cost. Although the over the past year my vehicle has been in and out of their shop. I no longer see the owner, I think he is semi retired. Perhaps that is the problem. After thousands of dollars in repair bills and repeat appointments for the same issue, I will no longer bring my vehicles to Singer. Most recently they replaced a starter 3 times until the problem was corrected. Each visit they held my car at least FOUR days, insisting they were backed up and "would get to it". What ever happened to insuring a repeat problem took top priority? My last 2 visits I felt I was a burden to them. Goodbye Singer... read more

Hello everyone, just wanted to share my recent experience with Singer Auto Center @ 3615 B&O Road in Abingdon MD. I took my vehicle in for a state inspection on the 2nd of October and got the report back after the inspection which they failed the vehicle and told me the cost to get it to pass would be $1499.59. I decided to take my vehicle home and do the repairs myself for around $400. I did do some suspension work so I needed an alignment done with the re-inspection. I scheduled and appointment for re-inspection and alignment for October 11th, and figured it would probably be ready by Friday afternoon. I didn't hear anything back so I called them around 4:30 on Friday the 12th, just to check progress, I was told on the phone that everything looked good and they haven't gotten to the alignment yet and would call me when it was finished. I had to call them on Tuesday the 16th because no word from them and it's only an alignment, that shouldn't take two days. What they told me at the time was that the Parking brake is not operational and needs to be repaired which was on the initial inspection (and I did fix) but anyway now the front wheels won't turn. They said after the alignment they test drove it and the front wheels just locked up. They told me that "it must be because the brake lines have air in them" and that I didn't properly bleed the lines after installing new rear calipers. I'm sorry but air in the brakes won't lock up the front calipers. Anyway I said to the guy, "You drove it last so you fix it". Told me they can't look at it until Thursday which was the 18th. Thursday comes and goes, no call, Friday I decided to stop by after work to see just what is going on. They told me that both front calipers were locked and that I need a new parking brake assembly to fix the parking break for the vehicle to pass inspection. Now the cost for the alignment, new front calipers and parking brake assembly would cost me $965 and that it would be finished on Monday the 22nd. Once again Monday comes and goes as well as Tuesday with no call from Singer, so I decided to call the State Police in hope that they could get to the bottom of this. The Trooper told me he would swing by on Wednesday morning to see what's going on. The Trooper called and said that Singer should be calling me sometime today (the 24th), but I have my doubts. So what are the odds that BOTH Front calipers lock up at the same exact time??? Probably the same odds I have at winning the Power Ball or Mega Millions. Aging, no call from Singer so I called them at 3:30 on the 24th, and I was told by Mike that the my vehicle was done but I couldn't get the inspection finalized until Friday the 26th. WTF..... I went to Singer, paid the $965 to get my vehicle and took it home. Mike from Singer Auto tells me that "Brian will be in on Friday and all he needed to do is fill out the inspection report". So now it's Friday the 26th and Brian (the owner of Singer Auto) finally calls me an says I need to bring the vehicle back up for him to look at because he needs to inspect the vehicle before he will finalize the inspection paperwork. So here I sit waiting for some douche bag to do what??? The vehicle has been here for almost a month and you don't even trust your employees that they did the work I paid for??? Singer Auto is full of Shit, they will lie to your face and feed you a bunch of Bullshit, Just straight up Crooks!!! DO NOT TRUST SINGER AUTO CENTER!!!!! read more

Hmmmm...I have to say after reading these reviews I am very puzzled. I have been using Singer for years. The only times I did NOT use Singer was when I bought a new car and had a warranty with free oil changes. I will not go back to a dealer ever for my service and perfect case in point here. A few years ago my car needed to go in for a recall and I took it back to the dealer. While they were repairing the recall the service manager calls me and tell me the brakes are bad and I need new ones. I ask him...can I get another week or so on them and he said yes. So next day I brought the car to Singer and asked them to check the front brakes. The owner came and brought me into the garage and showed me the brakes and said you have more than half of the life left on these pads...I drove on them for another 25K miles and saved myself a good amount of money. The honesty here was what I was looking for and then fact that i was able to save money. Cars are expensive, no getting around that, but Singer has yet to steer me wrong and if there is an issue, they are fast to repair. Yes sometimes I will have to sit for an hour or two, but again that is expected on a brake job or something like that and they tell me who long the repair will take. I bring a book and suck it up. If you are looking for an honest group of guys who wont rake you over the coals, they are the way to go here. Quick and inexpensive oil changes and very honest pricing that is shown to you up front before you give the go ahead on any major repairs. These bad reviews have me very confused, stick with Singer and you will be just fine! These is a reason why they have been around in the same place for so long. Keep up the good work guys!! BEWARE!! Prepare yourself for poor communication, no explanation of services, inflated prices and extended wait times (I'm talking weeks) to get your vehicle returned to you. Owner/manager has ZERO customer service skills! I have used them for oil changes over the past several years with no issues. However, during the past 6 months I have needed several MAJOR repairs done our Jeep and Madza. The van needed brakes, new head gasket/oil leak fix, a repaired light bulb and a few other things and was supposed to be done in 3 days, it took them over a month! I called every day for weeks and they kept putting me off with one excuse or another. Most recently, our vehicle needed a radiator repair/cooling issue fixed... They quoted me $1300 for parts and labor. After doing some research, the parts themselves only cost $150 and they were just charging the rest in labor. I needed the check engine bulb replaced, I was told the bulb itself cost $2 but they were charging $93 for an hour of labor. We chose not to have the work done and I was told my van would be out back waiting for me for afterhours pickup. So for days I tried to come up and get vehicle to no avail. After confronting them, I am then told they are charging $110 just for the diagnosis and cannot get my vehicle until the balance is paid. And the icing on the cake was about 12 bolts were removed from the front bumper (leaving it loose and about to fall off) and from a large area under the hood. I called and arranged to pick the bolts up and was told they would be waiting for me. When I arrived, not only were they not waiting for me, the owner then tells me he has no idea where they are and I need to DRIVE the van back to him so he can inspect what size to give me. AWFUL! So not only is my van not safe to drive back, but now driving it back to them is the only way I can actually get the bolts returned. The only positive I can say is that service guys, Mike and Glenn, are extremely helpful and polite during phone correspondence. read more
