Went in for MD state inspection with 2023 Subaru since i was moved back from another state. They failed me the first time for a few minor things as well as for being lowered since im on coilovers. I corrected all items and raised the car back up to factory height (which anybody that has performed this knows how time consuming this can be). When I returned for the re-inspection they failed it again this time stating I cannot have any aftermarket suspension components on the car per COMAR which is completely incorrect. Article 11.14.2. Look it up. I took time off work for both appointments only to waste my time here. Should have been a red flag when they charged me $40 to put blocks of wood on their ramp lift because it was "too low" even though it was only 1" lower than stock. Mechanic just jumped in with no protective cover for the seat too. Complete waste dont bother with these guys, especially if your car is modified in any way. They couldnt even be up front about why it "failed" the first time with a vague answer and barely any detail. AVOID these guys, just go anywhere else read more

I had such a great experience with my mechanic Dustin. He was fast and friendly and very professional. I received brake services and he made sure to educate me on the do's and don'ts with my new break. And also gave me future suggestions. I will most definitely be using these services again. Never go there! Had a car towed less than 5 miles and do a diagnosti. Charged over $500 for that?! Then tried to overcharge for needed repairs in estimate. I didn't get done there and would never ever take a vehicle there, unless you want to be overcharged for everything. Ripoff shop read more

I brought my Honda Pilot in because of a noise it started to make. After inspection, the shop called me and told me it was the following: NOISE UNDER HOOD, ON ACCELERATION TICKING TAPPING CUSTOMER GAVE PERMISSION TO REMOVE TIMING COVERS AND INSPECT THE TIMING COMPONENT -once engine warm Loud ticking/clanging noise from front of engine. Check oil level- off dipstick. Add 3qt oil. Level full, no change in noise. Isolate noise to timing components in front of engine. Suspect faulty timing component. Need additional hour to remove timing covers and inspect. -upon further examination: needs timing belt and water pump kit tensioner is popping. I produced the receipt from three years ago/22,000 miles of replacing my timing belt. The mechanic insisted it was a faulty (TIMING BELT TENSIONER). The shop then expected a deposit of $400 to start the work. Which I thought was odd but I paid it and approved to complete the work. For the record, I have never been asked for a deposit, even from this shop in the past for expensive work. I know it was a long job, but they never called to update me after 4 days. I had to keep calling to ask if it was done. They finally told me the TIMING BELT -TIMING BELT TENSIONER- WATER PUMP - was removed & replaced. When I picked up the truck I was told, "Yes, the noise is still there. No, they have no idea what it is. And if it get's louder, I can bring it back in and they will reevaluate it." After expressing that I was not happy with the work. The owner took $200 off the bill. Leaving me to end up paying $1,000.00 for not fixing the issue. I would NOT recommend this shop and I will NEVER return. I am notifying the Maryland state attorney general's office, local consumer protection agency and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I have taken (2) vehicles to Next Generation, my work van and my Tahoe. Both times I took them from a local Chevy dealership because the dealership was trying to rip me off. The first time I had my brakes checked in my work van because the brakes made a grinding noise and the van didn't slow down like it usually did. The dealership told me that the all the brake pads were completely worn away, the rotors needed to be replaced, and I had frozen calipers. All in all they were going to charge me over $900 for the repairs. I took the van to Next Generation to get a second opinion and they told me the only thing needed to be replaced was one set of rotors and all the brake pads for all 4 tires. I asked about the frozen caliper and they said that all 4 were fine. Saved me hundreds of dollars. Several months later I noticed that I had a screw in my Tahoe's tire. I headed to that dealership again for them to repair the tire and then also give me an oil change. An hour after I dropped it off I got a call saying that they couldn't repair the tire because of the location of the screw. Then he added that it wouldn't matter anyway, because my tire tread was "dangerously" low and I needed to replace all 4 tires. I couldn't afford to replace the tires but I also wanted a second opinion on the tire repair. I picked up my Tahoe and checked the tread myself at the dealership. Wasn't even close to 2/32". One of the shop guys came out that I had talked to when I dropped it off. I asked him about it and he stuck his fingers in the tread and said "feels like it's less than 2/32" to me." I did the penny test, it passed. I used a quarter, it passed. My tires had more than 4/32" of tread remaining. WELL OVER THAT. The dealership was trying to rip me off for another $900. Needless to say, I took it to Next Generation and they plugged my tire for a whole $16. No issues with the location. Didn't try to swindle me out of $900 on new tires that I didn't need. Bottom line is this, everyone is out to make a buck, most are doing it dishonestly by taking advantage of customers. I couldn't imagine how many folks that dealership has ripped off by lying to them about services and repairs that they don't need just to make a buck. Next Generation is the ONLY placed I have taken a vehicle for repairs and had an honest person look me in the eye and know that they were taking care of me. Beth and her husband have integrity and honesty and put the needs of the customer ahead of a few bucks. The guy at a dealership with slicked back hairs has values that aren't even in the same galaxy. I will never take one of my vehicles to anywhere other than Next Generation again. read more

Good, honest mechanics are hard to find, and these guys are at the top of both lists! We've been taking our cars to them for 7 years, and have never had an issue. They don't over charge you, or try to talk you into unnecessary repairs. In fact, an other mechanic recently told me I needed $800 worth of brake work, on a relatively new car, with fairly low mileage. I told him no, and took the car to next generation - who thoroughly checked my car over, told me the brakes are fine - and refused to charge me for the evaluation! Top of the line mechanics, no wait to get an appointment, I can actually TRUST recommendations, and you really can't beat the prices (I'm a shop around kinda gal). Was given an estimate of $850 for timing belt and water pump. The actual bill at time of payment was less than $750. A far cry from the $1150 my previous mechanic had given me. This place is a hidden gem. I was no where near home when my truck broke down on a Sunday afternoon. I felt lost and alone (and scared!). I took a chance and called Next Generation. They immediately put me at ease. They found someone to get right out to me (on a Sunday afternoon during a Ravens game-no easy feat to say the least) and had me towed to their shop.
