Next Generation Mechanic - Ladew guarden

Next Generation Mechanic

I have taken (2) vehicles to Next Generation, my work van and my Tahoe. Both times I took them from…read morea local Chevy dealership because the dealership was trying to rip me off. The first time I had my brakes checked in my work van because the brakes made a grinding noise and the van didn't slow down like it usually did. The dealership told me that the all the brake pads were completely worn away, the rotors needed to be replaced, and I had frozen calipers. All in all they were going to charge me over $900 for the repairs. I took the van to Next Generation to get a second opinion and they told me the only thing needed to be replaced was one set of rotors and all the brake pads for all 4 tires. I asked about the frozen caliper and they said that all 4 were fine. Saved me hundreds of dollars. Several months later I noticed that I had a screw in my Tahoe's tire. I headed to that dealership again for them to repair the tire and then also give me an oil change. An hour after I dropped it off I got a call saying that they couldn't repair the tire because of the location of the screw. Then he added that it wouldn't matter anyway, because my tire tread was "dangerously" low and I needed to replace all 4 tires. I couldn't afford to replace the tires but I also wanted a second opinion on the tire repair. I picked up my Tahoe and checked the tread myself at the dealership. Wasn't even close to 2/32". One of the shop guys came out that I had talked to when I dropped it off. I asked him about it and he stuck his fingers in the tread and said "feels like it's less than 2/32" to me." I did the penny test, it passed. I used a quarter, it passed. My tires had more than 4/32" of tread remaining. WELL OVER THAT. The dealership was trying to rip me off for another $900. Needless to say, I took it to Next Generation and they plugged my tire for a whole $16. No issues with the location. Didn't try to swindle me out of $900 on new tires that I didn't need. Bottom line is this, everyone is out to make a buck, most are doing it dishonestly by taking advantage of customers. I couldn't imagine how many folks that dealership has ripped off by lying to them about services and repairs that they don't need just to make a buck. Next Generation is the ONLY placed I have taken a vehicle for repairs and had an honest person look me in the eye and know that they were taking care of me. Beth and her husband have integrity and honesty and put the needs of the customer ahead of a few bucks. The guy at a dealership with slicked back hairs has values that aren't even in the same galaxy. I will never take one of my vehicles to anywhere other than Next Generation again.

I corrected all items and raised the car back up to factory height (which anybody that has performed this knows how time consuming this can be). When I returned for the re-inspection they failed it again this time stating I cannot have any aftermarket suspension components on the car per COMAR which is completely incorrect. Article 11.14.2. Look it up. I took time off work for both appointments only to waste my time here. Should have been a red flag when they charged me $40 to put blocks of wood on their ramp lift because it was "too low" even though it was only 1" lower than stock. Mechanic just jumped in with no protective cover for the seat too. Complete waste dont bother with these guys, especially if your car is modified in any way. They couldnt even be up front about why it "failed" the first time with a vague answer and barely any detail. AVOID these guys, just go anywhere else

I wrote a review just now that was above the size limit so let me give you the condensed version…read more These are extremely decent, kind people of a very rare sort now a days who treat you as a person needing help and go far beyond what most car repair places would ever do for a customer. My car's radiator tank split from (as I found out after it was shown to me after the repair) a combination of heat along with a thick accumulated layer on the radiator itself of dust, dirt, bird feathers (!!) ,twigs and dead leaves that were a quarter inch thick on the radiator effectively choking it to death. They let me stay in the office to work out getting the money raised for the estimated $680-$700.00 repair including tax. Then Michelle at the front desk helped me find a better motel to stay at, After I got a reservation she drove me there after picking up her husband from work, Ernie the shop manager picked me up the next morning, drove me first to Auto Zone where I got some extra anti freeze so I could have some money. It turned out that they were able to use the gallon I just so happened to have in my trunk, a lot places will still use what they have in stock and charge you for it with a big mark up Ernie then told me that although the estimated labor time was four hours Pete the mechanic working on my car actually put in another 3 hours the night before due to the radiator on my '04 Alero (this was only it's 2nd breakdown in the 9 years I owned the car) has to be dropped down as one assembly including all the attached pumps, lines and fans . THEY were NOT charging me for the extra time because when they give an estimate they stick to it. Also they knew that this was a real punch in the gut for me financially and they wanted to help me. They repaired a transmission line which if it was not fixed would of resulted in the transmission burning out for no extra charge except for the $2.50 for the piece of rubber hose that connects the radiator to the transmission. They went out of their way to cut costs (along with my AAA labor discount of 10% to help me out to when all was said and done the actual cost was around $590.00 before tax and my final total was $613.00. I am sure they lost money or at best barely broke even. Earnie then dropped me off at Golden Corral which is very cheap and very good if you really enjoy food. I was called at 2:15 to be told Ernie was coming to pick me up because the car was finished. That was 45 minutes earlier than estimated. Pete took time out to go over the repair in detail, explain everything he did, then show me the broken radiator (which I mentioned before) while assuring me that this just happens and there was nothing I could of done to have prevented it. Then give me his appraisal of the over all long term health of the car which is the old girl still has a lot of life left and if I treat her right as I have been she is good for another 3 years maybe more! Which is amazing for a car with around 245,000 miles on her. I said my goodbyes and felt like I was leaving good friends who had rescued me when I was in a world of hurt! If you ever do break down in or near Aberdeen MD, do NOT go anywhere but Thompson's. They are the salt of the earth and good Samaritans who see their job as helping their customers above making a profit. I felt like I made new friends there so as part of paying them back for how wonderfully they treated me I want do what I can to make sure all "Yelpers" who are in the Aberdeen area who need car repair help to give Thompson's all of their business which is very well deserved. Thanks for reading this to the end.

Thompson showed up and the first thing driver told me before getting out of his truck was that I would have to pay him $100.00 for the tow. I let him know I was covered by AAA Plus and he said doesn't matter, I need to pay him $100.00!! I called AAA back and told them what I was being charged and AAA rep said,"no he is wrong, let me talk to him". I handed the Thompson tow driver my phone and HEARD THE AAA REP. tell him,"this customer is covered; Thompson will be paid for this tow". Then another tow truck arrived from Thompson. They talked to each other and BOTH TOW TRUCKS LEFT WITHOUT TOWING MY CAR!!! The officer called another company and now I have to pay this other company since they are not in AAA and for storage of my car when it was supposed to be towed to my house by an AAA approved vendor. The work was not completed as agreed, despite clear conversations about what was supposed to be done. On top of that, the job took over a week longer than the timeframe I was given, with little communication or accountability during the delay. When I finally got my car back, the paint job was unacceptable. There were visible paint drips, sloppy areas, and worst of all, they painted over my backup camera, which should never happen in a professional body shop. It honestly looked rushed and careless. What really crossed the line was when Henry contacted my insurance company and submitted a repair order/quote that did not match what we had agreed on, seemingly in an attempt to inflate the price. That created unnecessary stress and confusion and felt completely unethical. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. Poor workmanship, missed deadlines, and questionable business practices are not what anyone should have to deal with--especially when trusting a shop with their vehicle. I would not return, and I would strongly advise others to think twice before using H&B Auto Body.

When I arrived I was greeted by a gentleman at the desk (sorry I didn't get his name) he addressed my concerns right away about replacing my two headlights & was able to give me a price on the job/labor before my car was even serviced. While waiting on my vehicle to be serviced I sat in a very nice and clean waiting area while watching cable television. There was no wait when I got to this establishment thank God for that. I was literally in and out in about 45mins. I am truly happy with my experience at Singer Auto Center and I would most definitely return here in the future. Next time I would probably make an appointment though so I know for sure they will be able to work on my vehicle. I then took my vehicle to Pep Boys where it was fully repaired in 4 hours. The mechanic that installed my brakes sted that the sensors that were supposed to be replaced do not appear to be recently serviced. So now I have to determine soundly if they actually did the full repair.......They responded to my BBB complaint, this business is actually stating that they used my parts........I still have my factory new parts that i was tol could not be used.......VERY DISHONEST, now i have to refer this as a complaint to the Attorney General. Oh and i did dispute the charges through my credit card, until they verify the work if any work was done....
