I also tried a bit of the pork cutlet don with egg, pretty good but wouldn't say it's the best I've had. The lunch set did come with a lot of food though so the price was not at all unjustified. Their small salad was good and fresh; the chawanmushi was delicious; miso soup was fresh and hot. They also had good quality rice - chewy and flavorful! At the end we were all pleasantly surprised with the delicious coffee ice cream with almonds and crispy flakes on top. We were happy with our lunch. Stuffed. When I found out that Handi was literally a few miles from our flat, and it came highly recommended by friends who live on a different part of the island, I told my husband we must try it out. He looked at me like I had 5 heads because I had never tried Indian food so he couldn't wait to take me there. This place is the cutest. Yes. It's so quaint and tiny. I feel like I'm in the owner's home. We chose to eat inside where there's about 5 tables from two-seaters up to 6 seats. Each table decked out in red and white checkered cloths. The menu is like a small book, with a variety of sections to choose from. It was quite plentiful. As well as several options for vegetarians too. From the first bite to the last crumb, everything was delicious! It's definitely going to be our go-to spot from now on. I think what made this meal so incredible was the combination of the home cooked feel of the food accompanied by such hospitable and wonderful service from the owner. I think he could tell we truly enjoyed our food, and he gave us their take away menu and told us they have free delivery for certain areas. Indian cravings will be fully taken care of here! The restaurant is modern and so is the food. It is a fusion of Asian and other influences including South American and European. Kommune has a nice menu of cocktails and I recommend trying them. My favorite hands down was the Chinese Ink. This cocktail was a delicious as it was beautiful, the mix of berries and fruit along with nicely mixed alcohol made this far too easy to drink. We all shared dinner and it started with Buffalo Cauliflower, flash fried and tossed in spicy buffalo sauce, these were spicy and delicious. The kale salad came next and was a delicious​ mix of kale, brussels sprouts and quinoa. Next came the ribs. IPA BBQ baby back ribs. Now, I'm American and we like our ribs and I have to say, these wouldn't pass muster in an American rib joint or even a chain restaurant but they were good enough. Honestly,​ I didn't expect them to be fall off the bone, 12 hour smoked ribs. Next was the Salmon and it was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Finally, the herb roasted chicken. Chicken is such a staple and is generally​ either good or just average, but not here. The herb roasted chicken was the standout of the meal we ate. The vibe is funky, cool and the place was very full while I was there. I will say, if you are tall watch your head walking around or you'll find the lights with the top of your head. Service is good but not super fast, you wait a long time between courses and drinks for someone to get back to you and for that reason I'm taking away a star, it was slow enough that I was constantly aware of the lack of service. This is a very good place to eat and I'd definitely go again, it wasn't exactly what I expected to find in Hong Kong but I'm glad I​ did.

I would have been a bit happier with regular vegetables, but you live and you learn. They also have a very extensive menu with a wide variety of dishes, including Western dishes and soup-vide dishes. The variety of dishes meant that there were families that seemed to live in the area that went to eat there, and groups of 20-somethings who went to have different platters or steak and fries. Service: The staff were very friendly. It felt like it was a family-run restaurant. They provided great suggestions, weren't pushy, and were very friendly. Environment: It's a simple environment with no frills, but it was clean and does its job. Would I return? Yes!

Dal, kadhi, one vegetable (potato tomato or aalu tamatar), rice, roti, dhokla, yogurt and dessert were the same on both times. Two vegetables were different and a vegetable fritter was different. They had potato one time and The first time, they had chickpeas and cabbage. Today, they had kala chana (a thinner, smaller and darker version of chickpeas) and squash as the other. Preparations of the meal - on point, good and very home style. The dal was out of the park good. We've been living out of suitcases for over a month and a half now, hence, more appreciation for the home style food ;) Last time, the husband got chola bhatura (chickpeas curry fried leavened flatbread), which was good. A relatively small sized bhatura but nicely done. And we also got the medu vada (fried lentil dumplings for the lack of being able to explain it better), which was great. Perfectly fried, cooked inside, crisp outside. And a very very very nice sambhar - the kind I like, in terms of the taste and the tadka. It didn't have as many vegetables as we usually put at home, put it home run for me. This time, it was vada pav and capsicum paneer masala, also known as kadhai paneer. Both were good, again. The panner sabzi gravy wasn't the smooth ones like you usually get at the North Indian restaurants, but was more chunky. And with abundant garlic, it tasted very good. The vada pav wasn't as expected. They served the vadas and the pav breads separately, with a side of sambhar and coconut chutney. It was missing the quintessential dry garlic chutney. And I like green chutney as well with it. The besan (chickpea flour batter) layer could've been thicker.

The dishes mainly consisted of some beans and some tofu kind of stuff. There was also a spicy rice that was quite yummy. For drinks, I highly recommend the mango lassi. I order mango lassi every time I dine at an indian restaurant and I must say Branto's was one of the best I've had... not too sour as I don't like it with a strong yogurt taste. Overall, I'd recommend this place if you are a vegetarian. For Indian cuisine, I still like it with meat like lamb or chicken.
