By far, the best pub in town. Very nice ambience, friendly staff, the bartender makes a good hot toddy. Did I mention the great live band

Mini Club - Ferris wheel appetizer (assorted fried items)

3.5 stars; some hits and misses on food, average cocktails, but cool atmosphere and concept (albeit…read morea little gimmicky, but hey it makes for great photos). Actually a pretty nice place to go for a drink and hang out; may want to order some of the less gimmicky cocktails for stronger tasting cocktails. Also happy hour runs till 8pm and you get a 20% off the bill! Mini Club is located on the first floor of a building right across from the MTR station, so it is super convenient with a nice view of the bustling street below. Wasn't too crowded when we went for an early dinner on a Monday, and it's pretty well suited for hanging out and talking over drinks. Lights were dimmed and there is a huge upside down model of the Eiffel Tower in the middle of the room, which is interesting. Service was good, and the menu was presented on an iPad (whoo technology!). There is a huge selection of drinks, and a decent selection of food items that mainly consist of snack items but also has a few pizza and pasta choices. DRINKS: I got the What the Duck specialty cocktail; just couldn't resist the novelty of having my drink served in a toy bathtub with a rubber duck on the side. It definitely is a great photo op - taste wise though, it mainly tasted of pineapple juice and alcohol content was pretty low. My friend got the Strawberry ME, which came in a mason jar cup stuffed full of edible items (a chocolate, strawberry, pocky stick etc) with a slushie like drink in the cup itself. It tasted again pretty watery, although it is quite pretty. Their specialty cocktails are a delight to look at (they have some other creative ones), but tended to taste kinda weak. FOOD: We got the Ferris Wheel appetizer, baked chicken wings in cheese, pizza and a marshmallow dip. The food items are mostly bar food, with many fried and heavy items. The Ferris wheel is quite pretty to look at - they serve it up in a huge Ferris wheel model, with fried items in each of the baskets - fried calamari, oyster, fish, crabmeat etc. It came out hot and was pretty good, and the portion was pretty big too. The baked wings were amazing - very cheesy (so much guilt after eating it) and with a nice caramelized surface. The marshmallow dip was quite disappointing - kinda overly sweet and there weren't enough of the biscuit sticks that came with it, so it was hard to finish.

Prompt and friendly service, decent drinks selection and good games selection - from Jenga to dice…read moreto darts.

Overall, I was happy to find this place and give it a try. Nothing terribly special based on…read morebrunch and an awful "Smokey Mary" (I had to ask for pepper and Tabasco to add to the watery tomato juice). Probably 3.5 stars, but I'll (hesitantly) round up in hopes of the potential of the other dinner items and the outdoor terrace. Our group had the Everything breakfast, omelette, mac and cheese, cheese fries, eggs benedict, French toast, and a "jar" of mojito :) The food was ok: no exclamations of excellence nor complaints (other than a question about the uninvited red sauce over the omelette that tasted like a plain marinara). Sadly and confusingly though, 2 dishes our group wanted to order for brunch were already "sold out for the morning". They explained that a certain amount of that dish were allotted for brunch and those had already been ordered, but we could order the dishes in a hour (at 2.30pm) when they would allow the next ration of that dish to be available. I don't work in F&B, but that doesn't make any sense to me: they have the food available in the kitchen and refuse to serve it to someone who has asked for it, but tell them they can have it in an hour?!?! I'm questioning whether it was appropriate to round up on this 4-star rating....

They also have a balcony where we can choose to sit outside on chilling day. The food is average but i love their dessert. The hot chocolate with marshmallows on top!! Yummy!! I must come back again!
