Sing Sing is like a fever dream, you're not really sure what's going on and it doesn't seem like reality. Someone randomly decided to add karaoke as an afterthought above the restaurant and it shows. From the outside of the building, you couldn't even tell that you were in the right location. The karaoke section is located on the second floor in a medium/large room. As other reviews described, it was ice cold and uncomfortable. The room itself was clean and the song selections were pretty good. We did end up having a fun time singing and goofing off, but towards the end, the staff repeatedly kept coming to the room to get us to leave exactly at closing. We had no issue with finishing up and leaving, but they were all over us to get out of the building. As soon as we were outside, they locked the door behind us. I understand wanting to close up shop, but it could have been done in a more professional and courteous way. read more

MUSIC Decent music selection, easy to navigate via iPad (not the asian system of looking through a binder and typing in a number). There were a few more songs that I found in this system that haven't been available in Virginia karaoke spots (Fugees- Killing me softly and Semisonic- closing time) SPACE HUGE rooms. There were 6 of us in the larger room and it's supposed to fit 18 people. As a result though, its rate is $65/hr. Definitely worth it if you get more people to go. Bathroom was close and it was always available since there's only 2 rooms. SERVICE Service was pretty quick when we asked for it. Automatic 20% gratuity on all purchases though. I also kind of appreciate the payment on the spot thing... the pay-as-you-go ended in less hassle of figuring out a huge check at the end. We had some technical difficulty near the end that required a system restart and staff gave us an extra 15 minutes. FOOD You can order anything from the Sticky Rice menu. The tater tots probably the best option... the table was low and the noodle bowl was hot so it was awkward to eat and the sushi wasn't that great. I really wanted to like this place! We went as a big group for a colleagues going away party. On the good side, you can order from the Sticky Rice menu, So great food! Also, the space is nice and it's at a great location. On the bad side: their system is totaly non-functional. The system crashed at least five times. The manager came out to try babysitting it for us which ended up meaning he picked all the songs for a while, which is not really what you want with karaoke. Eventually the whole thhing totaly died and they had us sync one of our phones Spotify accounts over Bluetooth to the speakers to just sing along with our own music. Also while doing this we had to hold the phone near the door to keep it connected to the Bluetooth. For the trouble we got a round of shots for free but in all honestly for how nonfunctional the system was they should have comped the whole thing. We made the best of it, and I'll give the staff an B+ for effort, but bottom line line their set up was non functional and they should not book anyone in their until if is replaced. Would gladly go back and revise this review when they do but I would not pay for that experience given that wIth the state of the equipment they should not have booked us in the first place. read more

Sing a song here if it WORKS. First, they didn't set up the room before arrival. That was my first sign... and well you guessed it! Absolutely nothing was working. Third, my friend fixed THE WHOLE THING and made it work. S He was offered a position for he services. Kid you not! Staff couldn't even get there own equipment working, that or laziness. They told us to plug up our phone and play music then just use one mic that was working. Fourth, only one mic was WORKING, my friend also fixed this. Fifth,we started an HOUR LATE BC technically difficulty's. Did we get an refund? You guessed it. Ps - waited for drinks...the manager on duty that night was pacing back and forth on the phone with his ex girlfriend. That's why I went downstairs to get a drink... waited 5 minutes for you to notice or hell put up one finger - FYI And a FULL REFUND! Thanks for nothing Groupon. My friend took the time and consideration into her birthday party. She called many places and after much thought, consideration, and conversation she chose this one. I decided to give sing sing another chance after a subpar experience there. I'm really glad i did! This time my group and i tried out to geisha room, it was huge (a great place to throw large parties). The sound system was also very nice & the layout made it easy for everyone to sing along. A group of 20 friends came here to celebrate my bachelorette party, and we were all a little disappointed. The room was not clean when we arrived so my friends had to clean it up. And the music selection SUCKS. It's like they included only the free songs that come with a karaoke system. For example, I think the only Ariana Grande song was from when she was 14 and on Disney. Also the other room was singing Confessions by Usher but it wasn't available in our room--very disappointing and confusing. They really need to invest a little more in current music--it's a karaoke bar after all. Just had a group there for a birthday and the service was amazing! Our hostess/server was super patient with us, accommodating, and got the orders and food out rapidly (I've been to karaoke spots where that was NOT the case). The rooms were also set up well and the system was very intuitive. I also got a call from Sing Sing a few days prior about any special requests, which is next level customer service. I would not go back here for karaoke. We went here for my bachelorette party. The room was blasting cold air and when we asked if it could be changed, the hostess looked at us blankly, left the room, and never came back, so we froze to death the whole time. We didn't get an explanation of how to use the song selector to pull up a queue. I asked an employee who said, "go on YouTube and look up the songs." Then why do you have an ENTIRE SYSTEM in the rooms?!? The second employee said to press the arrow to put it in the queue. This worked, but the problem is that the songs aren't put in sequential order. Let's say someone's currently singing Song A. Someone else puts in Song B to go next, and then a third person puts in Song C. You'd think that once Song A finishes, it would move to Song B. Nope! It moves to Song C. And if someone then puts in Song D? That gets played next. The poor person who put in Song B is never going to get it to queue up unless you go back and do it manually. My point is, the system is totally whacky. Lastly, at one point the bartender stepped out to take his break (and rightfully so), but nobody else was over 21 so we had to wait 15 minutes to get a drink! Understaffed. The food we ordered was fine - I wanted sushi over Korean which is why I picked SingSing over Muzette but I won't be back to SingSing ever again. I'll suck it up and get Korean anyway at Muzette. In sum: the karaoke system is whacky, hard to use, the room was absolutely freezing with no relief, and the staff couldn't have cared less about us. You couldn't pay me to go back. read more

Great place to come in a big group for a birthday, celebration, or night out. Came here a few weeks ago for a friend's birthday - we rented out the back room and had a great time with ample space for a group of 20. The music selection was decent - though the iPad interface glitched out frequently. The staff, however, was helpful when these glitches happened and we mostly were able to go along smoothly. However, one of my FAVORITE things about this place is that it's above Sticky Rice! Ordered food directly from sticky rice upstairs, which was perfect and convenient (and delicious). Our karaoke machine stop working after 15 minutes and then we got placed into an even bigger room with neat artwork. Sing Sing is a lot of fun! My friends rented out a room for 3 hours and we belted everything from Disney songs to Don't Stop Believing to Spice Girls. Our room had 2 TVs which was good because we had about 11 people. I didn't play with the iPad too much, but it was a bit laggy and finding artists/songs was difficult at times. For example, you couldn't find Ariana Grande through the Artists tab, but you could find her when you manually searched. Also, Timber by Kesha and Pitbull doesn't work (and apparently never works in any of the rooms). My friends ordered a sushi boat/platter, which was just ok. I really couldn't tell what fish were in the rolls, but there were vegetarian options included. We also had champagne, cucumber soju, and Kirin beer. I don't know how much everyone was, but I do remember seeing the drink prices taped on the wall and noting that it was expensive to buy bottles. The lady checked in on us often and brought out carafes of water consistently. The space of our room was very open, which is good for dancing/performing during singing I guess, even though I personally would not be able to entertain in that way. There were seats along one wall and windows, which was a bit oddly spaced (mostly by the window nook area) and just a different layout than the regular U-shaped seating at other private karaoke places. I loved SingSing! We went here last Friday for a friends birthday party. You can rent a room that comfortably holds 11 to 15 people, for a few hours. We booked the room for 3 hours. Most karaoke nights, I am used to spending an entire night jammed into a bar waiting for what feels like hours for a friend to get a turn, but SingSing is like having a karaoke party at home (but in venue for just your friends!) The bartenders were great too. I don't drink, and they went above and beyond and made "mocktails" for me, so I highly recommend this place. read more

Buyer beware. We booked using a Groupon, and the staff re-negged on their offer because it was going to be busy. They made us pay full price instead for 3 people, put us in the biggest, most expensive room (Geisha), and charged us a 30% gratuity without warning. The "karaoke system" was awful, non-legit, basically an iPad loaded with YouTube ripped videos. When we asked about a larger selection, staff turned it around on us and said "Most people put in their requests a week in advance." Uh sorry, that's not how real karaoke systems work?? The speakers popped in and out and the system crapped out half a dozen times. Please note we alerted the staff each time the system restarted mid-song or just stopped working. Staff made no effort to repair, just said that's the way it is. I was also stunned they kept us in the larger geisha room when only 3 of our party showed up. A much larger party was booked in the oni room at the same time and arrived late. I feel if the staff had any tact and common sense they would have switched us for the comfort of both parties. Since only 3 of our party showed up, we asked to reduce our reservation to one hour and the staff brutally told us "No." There was no explanation or room for negotiation. It was all just really unprofessional. I ordered a drink and they never brought it. At time of booking they promised my husband a free dessert for his birthday and they never brought it. Rip off. Would not recommend to anyone. $170 total for an experience we could have had in our own living room at home. Oh, and the microphones only work about 30% of the time. read more

This was too much fun. I get the television/iPad on a stick complaint. It did make the night start a bit slow, but frankly, no one should be trusted with Ipads when you're drinking that much sake. This is honestly the worst karaoke place I have ever visited. Rooms are uncomfortable, and the interior is cheap (hard benches, tables, and walls are shabby). The sound is awful, just very very bad. Poor songs collection, actually I could not find a lot of my songs and usually, they are everywhere! The day before my reservation I had received the email from karaoke asking me to provide the list of songs that I wanted to sing, so I did it. It didn't help. Such a fun place! My friend rented a room to celebrate her birthday. It was awesome - we had a great time. I love that the room is soundproof so that the shy singers feel 100% comfortable. The room had a great view of the street. We had 2 working microphones. Lots of bench seating. We ordered food. Only options are Asian. You can order champagne for the room too. Upstairs has two rooms for rent and one bathroom. Definitely a great activity for a group event. Parking is difficult so you may need to get a ride. read more

I went here to celebrate my wife's birthday. I reserved the small room for three hours and we had a blast. The food was bomb.com . Shout to the chef. The sound system was awesome and the music selection was cool. Me and an employee was playing phone tag so I didn't have some of the songs I wanted. Maybe if I wasn't called from three didn't numbers I would have answered. Only one complaint was the $30 gratuity tak onto my check because he "forgot", how sway how?? He said, it's mandatory to charge so that should be second nature to him, or nah? Although he charged everyone gratuity on their individual checks. I guess its wasn't good enough. Awesome Private-Room Karaoke Spot! I celebrated my 40th birthday with a bunch of friends at Sing Sing this weekend -- it was awesome! The Geisha Room was plenty big to host my party of 18 -- we probably could have fit a few more just fine -- and everyone had a fabulous time. The room is large enough that many can sit and others can dance. Really good song selection, the booze prices don't break the bank, and it's a fun neighborhood. I will likely never return to Wok N Roll in Chinatown now that I know this places exists! Special thanks to Shannon for being our gracious host for the night. =) read more

One of the worst karaoke bars to go to. Save your money. My friend had her birthday celebration here and had this booked this place a month in advance. We show up at 9 pm to make sure the room would be ready and set by 9:15 pm but nope. We enter the room and the tv that displays the lyrics is broken, the mics don't work, and their iPad that plays the music does not work. How do you not have your main stuff set up before your party arrives??? After complaining for over an hour the karaoke stuff got set up by 10:30 NOT by the staff, but by our friend. The staff had given up on us so my friend sat there and figured the whole thing out and fixed it. The mics then ran out of battery so we had one mic the entire time. When we tried to get drinks at the bar no one would be available or the assistant manager would be on the phone and tell us to wait. Even if we did order a drink you had to keep reminding them and asking them where it was. There is sooo much more wrong with this establishment. I could go on and on but all I can say is watch out before coming to this place. read more

Singsing karaoke helped our group have a great time and exceeded my expectations on multiple fronts! I signed up for the Groupon and at $25/hr for a room that fits 10-15 people, it's an incredible deal. The host was very welcoming, showed us to a room with our name on it, and walked us through the system that is all run on an iPad and fairly seamless to use. We ordered some snacks and they arrived promptly, and we could have ordered anything from the neighboring sushi restaurant, which looked like pretty good food. They also had a short but well rounded drink list of beer, wine, cocktails and bottle service, and the woman outside the room had access to the full bar and could quickly provide drinks. The staff was perfectly attentive - available whenever we had a question but otherwise left us alone to have a good time. The song selection never disappointed and the room was well equipped with screens and seating and plenty of room to stand and sing. I can't recommend this place more, thank you singsing! read more

Came here to celebrate my birthday with friends and we had an amazing time! Our room was so cute and we immediately got excited once we walked in. Love that we were able to order food and drinks directly to the room. My only gripe was that the iPad system to choose songs was very slow, definitely uses an earlier version of iOS. This is a good place to come hang out and have a nice karaoke party with friends. The bathrooms are nasty and the drinks are overpriced but if you can look past that you'll have an excellent time. Came out with a couple of friends for a nice birthday karaoke and we did have a blast we were in the front room and were able to open the windows to get a nice breeze after he got a little too stuffy inside. Not much customer service I think that the cost is pretty decent and comparable to other karaoke bar that you can have a private room in DC. read more
